BUSH SUFFERS LEG CONDITION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:25 pm

Former U.S. President GEORGE BUSH has revealed he’s suffering from a balance and mobility condition known as "Parkinsonitis".
The 86 year old has been forced to cut down on physical activities because of the illness, which affects the lower limbs, but Bush is adamant he’s not letting the condition get him down.
He tells U.S. talk show host Larry King, "I’ve got a leg, you probably may have noticed how I limped in here. But it’s something called Parkinsonitis. It’s like Parkinson’s (disease) in the lower extremities. So you lose your balance. Nobody wants you on their team anymore." And the former president still hopes he will be able to fulfil his dream of completing a parachute jump on his 90th birthday in 2014.
He adds, "(I want to do) one more (jump), (on) my 90th birthday, June 12th, 2014… It’s all set."

HOGAN ESCAPES CRIMINAL CHARGES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:25 pm

CROCODILE DUNDEE star PAUL HOGAN is breathing a sigh of relief after Australian officials dropped a criminal investigation into his tax dealings.
The actor has been accused of using offshore bank accounts to conceal his earnings and is said to owe an estimated $32.1 million (£21.4 million) to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
But Australian Crime Commission Chief Executive John Lawler announced on Tuesday (23Nov10) that detectives will not pursue the case because of "insufficient prospects of securing convictions".
Hogan’s lawyer, Andrew Robinson, admitted the end of the criminal probe had provided his client with "immense relief".
However, ATO bosses are still pursuing the 70 year old over his tax bill - even though Hogan admitted in August (10) that he couldn’t afford to pay even 10 per cent of the amount.

APOLOGY GIVEN OVER BECKHAM PETA STORY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:21 am

Bosses at a British tabloid have made a public apology over an article which suggested animal rights activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) had threatened to douse VICTORIA BECKHAM in fake blood.
The Daily Mirror reported that campaigners were set to target the former Spice Girls star to protest against her new handbag line, which features items made from the skin of exotic animals.
The article, printed last month (Oct10), suggested Beckham’s aides were being forced to "bolster security" during a promotional trip to the U.K. to launch the accessories collection.
A spokesperson for Beckham defended the star over the story, declaring, "These skins sit strictly within the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) regulations", while heads at PETA told WENN they were seeking legal counsel over the fabricated story.
Now representatives at the publication have moved to make amends - on Tuesday (23Nov10) they printed a piece entitled, "Apology to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals", in which they pledged to pay PETA’s legal fees.
The article states, "On 19 October 2010, we published a story in the print and online editions of the Daily Mirror and on our 3am website stating that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals were planning a protest against Victoria Beckham’s new range of bags which would include pouring fake blood over Mrs Beckham.
"There was never any truth in this story which we retract completely. We apologise to PETA for the harm that our story has caused them. We have agreed to make a donation to PETA and to pay their legal costs."

SHEEN FILES EXTORTION LAWSUIT AGAINST ESCORT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:21 am

CHARLIE SHEEN is firing back at an actress/model who has filed a criminal complaint against him by suing her for extortion.
Capri Anderson was with the actor when he reportedly trashed a New York hotel room in October (10) - and now she’s going public with her tearful testimony as she officially accuses Sheen of battery and false imprisonment.
Anderson, 22, claims she locked herself in the bathroom of Sheen’s suite after he started hurling insults at her, throwing a lamp, grabbing her by the throat and threatening her with a shiny object she suspects was a knife.
In a TV interview on Monday morning (22Nov10), she recalled, "I saw him pick something up. I’m not sure if it was an envelope opener, maybe - a knife. I wasn’t at that point paying so much attention as much as I was trying to (get to the bathroom)." Anderson’s attorney also confirmed his client’s plans to file a criminal report with New York police, alleging battery and false imprisonment.
He added: "She (is) going (to) police today. She’s filing a police report against Mr. Sheen today - a criminal report. She’s going to the NYPD (New York Police Department) to report the action." Sheen’s lawyers have denied her claims and now the actor has filed a lawsuit against Anderson, according to TMZ.com, claiming she tried to extort him for $1 million (£666,000).

RADCLIFFE’S POTTER STUNTS HAVE HELPED HIS DYSPRAXIA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

DANIEL RADCLIFFE has credited the gruelling action scenes in the HARRY POTTER movie franchise with helping him deal with his learning difficulty.
The British actor suffers from dyspraxia, an impairment that leaves the star with movement and co-ordination problems.
But Radcliffe is adamant the intense training he has undertaken to film challenging scenes as the boy wizard have helped him cope with his condition.
He says, "If anything, the stunts and stuff has actually helped a lot because it deals with co-ordination and that’s the main thing that I’d say about dyspraxia is that it’s to do with co-ordination… Some people have it very badly and find it hard to, you know, catch a ball… I’ve never had it quite that badly - although you should see me throw - but it’s also a processing thing, so I take in information slightly slower than everyone else does.
"Through doing training and through doing bits of gymnastics when I was younger on Potter, that has absolutely stood me in very good stead and has made all the dyspraxia stuff kind of decrease a lot."

WILLIAMS: ‘I’M TOO SKINNY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:15 am

Singer MICHELLE WILLIAMS is desperately trying to gain weight because she’s convinced she’s "too skinny".
The former Destiny’s Child star has always had a trim waistline but admits she has lost even more weight since competing on British TV show Strictly Come Dancing.
Williams now admits she has become too thin and is aiming to pile on the pounds so she can have a more shapely figure like Halle Berry.
She tells Britain’s Heat magazine, "I was hoping not to lose too much weight (on Strictly Come Dancing). I’ve toned up, though. Now there’s no more weight on me that I could lose! "My metabolism has changed. It burns food quicker these days. I’m 120 pounds, but yes, I’m too skinny. I’ve always been like that. Growing up, I was so skinny - I was always skinny, skinny, skinny.
"I’ve always wanted to be a little bigger, so now I’m eating lots of pasta and rice. I want to gain weight. I was on a leaner diet of fish, chicken and turkey. I need some steak! I’ve lost too much weight on my diet.
"I’d like to have a figure like Halle Berry’s. She’s in really good shape - not too muscular, but very feminine and sexy."

BEZ WANTED BY POLICE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:15 am

HAPPY MONDAYS star BEZ is a wanted man - police are seeking the star for failing to answer bail after allegedly breaking a restraining order by contacting his ex-girlfriend.
The dancer/percussionist’s former partner Monica Ward claimed he had been harassing her with phone calls and text messages since he was found guilty in August (10) of attacking her during a domestic dispute.
Bez, real name Mark Berry, was jailed for a month when he refused to carry out his community service sentence. He was also handed a restraining order preventing him from contacting Ward for two years.
He was reportedly questioned by cops earlier this month (Nov10) but Bez missed his last scheduled bail appointment on 17 November (10) and police officers have been unable to contact him since.
A police spokesperson says, "A man is wanted for breaching a restraining order. Mark Berry failed to answer police bail and has not made contact with the police. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police."

SIMMONS BLASTS COWELL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:13 am

GENE SIMMONS wants SIMON COWELL’s job - he’s convinced he would make a better judge on the TV mogul’s reality singing contests because he has real experience in the music industry.
The Kiss rocker has joined a string of stars, including Sir Elton John and The Who’s Roger Daltrey, who have taken aim at Cowell and his hit TV competitions.
Simmons insists he is "more qualified than anybody" to dole out advice on the programmes, which he claims will never discover any new music legends like Jimi Hendrix or Robert Plant.
He tells Britain’s Daily Star, "I think I could be the sole judge on The X Factor, I’m more qualified than anybody on the show. Nobody on the show has written songs, then been on stage, or had record companies and managed Liza Minnelli. Nobody can shine my shoes.
"Maybe Simon should talk to me, although he is the only one on television that tells the truth. Everybody is nice, but that’s not how life is. Life is: ‘You suck, get off the stage.’ Realistic is good.
"Part of the reason we like watching these shows is because there are people up there and you’re like, ‘Are you on crack? Do you actually believe that you belong on stage?’ The biggest superstars of all time would have never made it on The X Factor.
"Imagine if Jimi Hendrix or Mick Jagger or Robert Plant came out. I wouldn’t make it, and neither would they. We’re peculiar and that’s what makes stars interesting, not the fact that you can sing well. Broadway and pop is the place where people really sing correctly."

BUFFY BOSS HAS MIXED EMOTIONS ABOUT REVAMP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:12 am

The brains behind BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER has been left with mixed emotions about the news his hit TV franchise is to be revamped for the big screen - because, although he stands to make a fortune from the project, he’s not involved.
Joss Whedon heard the news of the revamp on Monday (22Nov10) when it hit the headlines and can’t decide whether to laugh or cry.
He tells Eonline.com, "This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own.
"Obviously I have strong, mixed emotions about something like this… I thought, ‘I’ll make a mint…!’ But seriously, are vampires even popular any more? "I always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, AFTER. I don’t love the idea of my creation in other hands, but I’m also well aware that many more hands than mine went into making that show what it was. And there is no legal grounds for doing anything other than sighing audibly.
"I can’t wish people who are passionate about my little myth ill. I can, however, take this time to announce that I’m making a Batman movie. Because there’s a franchise that truly needs updating. So look for The Dark Knight Rises Way Earlier Than That Other One And Also More Cheaply And In Toronto, rebooting into a theatre near you."

NO DECISION MADE IN GIBSON CUSTODY BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:10 am

MEL GIBSON will have to wait a little longer before ending his bitter custody battle with ex-girlfriend OKSANA GRIGORIEVA - a judge won’t make a ruling until December (10) at the earliest.
The former couple has been fighting over 12-month-old Lucia since they split earlier this year (10), with Grigorieva accusing the actor of attacking her during a heated argument in January (10).
Gibson’s legal advisors have been arguing that her public comments suggest she’s only interested in damaging his reputation, and they’ve requested the Braveheart star be given full custody of Lucia, with Grigorieva only allowed monitored visits during the day.
The case returned to court on Monday (22Nov10) but no decision was reached, reports TMZ.com.
Judge Scott Gordon will pick up the case again next month (Dec10).
