KEITH URBAN has opened up about the moment his marriage to NICOLE KIDMAN almost collapsed - insisting he would have understood if the actress had walked out on him when he was admitted to rehab.
The country superstar has long battled drink and drug addiction and he reached breaking point four months after his marriage to the Moulin Rouge! star in 2006.
Kidman helped stage an intervention and Urban checked into California’s Betty Ford Center in a bid to kick his bad habits for good.
During an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Monday (29Nov10), Urban revealed he thought his addictions would "tear" the couple apart and "destroy" their marriage.
And the singer insists he would have understood if Kidman had left left him, telling the TV host, "Well that’s the point right there where she should have just walked. Not should have, that’s not the right word, but I (would have understood if she had). Of course… I’m just glad she didn’t." He also praised Kidman for the way she handled the situation, adding, "It was really a profound moment in so many ways. The way in which Nic handled that moment was just perfect… Everything was just designed, I believe, for that moment to fuse us together." Kidman was also interviewed on the show and told Winfrey the tough times made their relationship stronger: "I think marriage is about, every day, trying to make it better and working through things and when things are tough, saying, ‘I’m going to come to you and talk.’ We’re just very tight, and we stay really tight." The actress was also reduced to tears during the chat when Winfrey read out Urban’s dedication to her in the sleeve notes of his new album, Get Closer.
When the host read the line, "No one has ever, or will ever, love you as much I do", the actress began to cry and said, "Stop. Ok. It gets me."

GEORGE CLOONEY can’t understand why anyone under the age of 30 would sign up for cosmetic surgery, insisting they must be extremely "unhappy" to want to change their looks at such a young age.
The Ocean’s Eleven star, 49, went under the knife several years ago to remove excess skin around his eyes and he owned up to the procedure in a 2007 interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, admitting, "It’s important to look awake." But Clooney is convinced people in their twenties shouldn’t be using surgery to boost their self-esteem.
He tells Britain’s Hello magazine, "It’s fine for other people and if people want to do something that makes them feel better, good luck to them.
"The times I worry are when I see some of the younger people out there messing with their faces because I think that’s a mistake. I worry about people who are so unhappy with the way they look that they start trying to look younger at 25."

NICOLE RICHIE is stepping up her fight against a paparazzo she has accused of harassing her daughter HARLOW - the socialite is heading back to court to seek a permanent restraining order.
Richie was granted a temporary injunction in November (10) ordering Fabricio Luis Mariotto to stay 100 yards (91 metres) away from her, her fiance Joel Madden and their two children Harlow and Sparrow, and to keep his distance from Harlow’s Los Angeles school.
The court ruling is only valid for three weeks, and now it’s emerged Richie will be heading back to court in December (10) in a bid to have the order made permanent.
A source tells GossipCop.com that Richie will attend the court hearing and plans to testify against Mariotto.

JOHNNY DEPP initially confused Disney bosses with his PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN rogue JACK SPARROW - they assumed the character was gay or drunk.
Depp was confronted by movie executives after his first performances as the flamboyant pirate, who the actor has admitted was inspired by Rolling Stones rocker Keith Richards.
He tells Vanity Fair magazine, "They just couldn’t stand him. (I got calls from) upper-Disney-ites, going, ‘Is he, you know, like some kind of weird simpleton? Is he drunk? By the way, is he gay?’" But Depp refused to change the eccentric Sparrow, who has since helped turn the films into a hit franchise.
He adds: "I actually told this woman who was the Disney-ite that called me about all that stuff, and asked me the questions, I said to her, ‘But didn’t you know that all my characters are gay?’ Which really made her nervous."

GREEN DAY bassist MIKE DIRNT has added another child to his brood - the rocker’s wife gave birth to a little girl on Sunday (28Nov10).
The musician already has a daughter, Estelle, from his first marriage and a son, Brixton, with his third and current wife Brittney Cade.
Dirnt, who married Cade last year (09), admits he is "super happy" after welcoming a second daughter at the weekend.
However, the star is yet to choose the perfect name for the tot, telling TMZ.com, "Lots of special names… but I’m not gonna let people Google them yet."

Troubled pop star GEORGE MICHAEL is eyeing a Christmas comeback following his stint in prison - he’s releasing a festive single in December (10).
The former Wham! singer was jailed for eight weeks in September (10) for possessing cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs.
Following his prison term, record company bosses at Sony confirmed plans to re-release Michael’s 1987 album Faith in January (11) - but it’s now emerged the star is back in the studio working on new songs and is planning an assault on the Christmas singles chart.
He will re-release last year’s (09) festive track, December Song (I Dreamed of Christmas), on 13 December.

The director of the upcoming LINDA LOVELACE biopic feels relieved after axing troubled actress LINDSAY LOHAN from the project - because the production can now move forward without "any distractions".
Moviemaker Matthew Wilder cast the Mean Girls star to play the porn legend in Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story, and stood by the actress as she was jailed for breaching her probation earlier this year (10).
However, the movie stalled once again in November (10) when Lohan was ordered to return to rehab until early 2011, and Wilder was forced to drop her from the project because of complications with insurance.
And Wilder admits he’s glad he no longer has to deal with the scandal surrounding the star.
He says, "I feel like 16 tons of weight are off my mind not having to deal with the Lindsay Lohan situation.
"We have not heard anything from Lindsay and her camp recently but we wish her and them well. I still think she has great talent and if she respects those gifts then she will go on to show people what she is capable of doing.
"We’re scheduled to start filming in February now and are really looking forward to moving forward without any distractions." Watchmen star Malin Akerman has been hired as Lohan’s replacement.

MADONNA launched her first fitness centre by teaching a dance class to lucky gym members in Mexico City on Monday (29Nov10).
The pop superstar drew a crowd of hundreds of screaming fans as she opened the doors of her first Hard Candy Fitness compound, where she gave a short lesson to welcome customers.
The Material Girl insists she is proud to choose the Mexican capital to launch her latest venture, which will offer fans a chance to attend dance classes and learn fitness routines inspired by her own.
She tells Reuters, "I have a history with Mexico. I have a connection that I have always felt anyways because of my love and interest in (Mexican painter) Frida Kahlo." Madonna plans to role out the venture worldwide by opening fitness centres in Argentina, Russia, Brazil and throughout Europe and Asia.

JOHN LYDON is refusing to undergo laser eye surgery to correct his sight because he’s terrified the procedure will go wrong.
The Sex Pistols singer has been fearful of doctors since he was hospitalised with a bout of meningitis as a child and even though his sight has been progressively worsening over the years, he’s still reluctant to sign up for the eye operation.
He tells Britain’s The Times, "My eyesight’s going. There’s nothing I can do. I’d rather go blind than chance treatment with a laser, a friend of mine had that and it went wrong. Now he’s almost blind in one eye. But if I lose my eyesight, I lose my life. I’d rather give up my ears than my eyes, which might sound unusual for a musician."

The landlord of the Broadway theatre housing SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK is reportedly looking for new tenants after the musical was hit by a slew of bad reviews.
Foxwoods Theatre manager Erich Jungwirth is said to have offered the space to a number of producers looking for a stage, according to the New York Post.
The publication reports that Jungwirth has not yet found another client interested in renting the venue if bosses choose to shut the Spider-Man production early.
The $65 million (£43.3 million) show, directed by Julie Taymor and featuring music by U2’s Bono and The Edge, has struggled through numerous setbacks, while a preview showing on Sunday (28Nov10) was branded an "epic flop".
The production is due to open officially in January (11).

Reality TV star KHLOE KARDASHIAN felt "disgusted" with herself after losing her virginity as a teenager - and was so upset by the experience, she refused to have sex again for years afterwards.
The socialite, who is married to basketball star Lamar Odom, was just 14 years old when she spent the night with her then-boyfriend, who was four years older.
Kardashian admits she only slept with her partner so she could feel "cool" - but insists the experience taught her to wait before having sex again.
Speaking on U.S. TV show The View, the star said, "He was only I think, 18, but… looking back, I think that’s not a normal thing.
"I feel like I was almost conned - well, not conned, but persuaded - because he was older and I felt I wouldn’t be accepted or cool or whatever.
"(Afterwards) I felt, after two months of secretly dating this guy, I felt so disgusted with myself. I stopped talking to him and actually didn’t have sex for three years after that because I knew I was young and I knew I wasn’t ready." The 26 year old also warned her younger fans to wait until the right time before having sex, adding: "I should have listened to my parents. Don’t let anyone pressure you, it’s not worth it and how I felt afterwards."

The future of LESLIE NIELSEN’s final film is in doubt because the animated movie’s creator is still hunting for investors to finance the project’s completion.
The spoof movie legend, who passed away on Sunday (28Nov10) aged 84 following a short battle with pneumonia, voiced a character for low-budget venture The Waterman Movie last year (09).
However, the film’s creator Bryan Waterman admits the project is far from ready, telling TMZ.com that a "great deal" of production needs to be completed.
He is currently taking donations from sponsors in exchange for a "special thanks" at the end of the movie to be able to finance further work.
But Waterman insists the project will feature Nielsen when it is finally released, and on his website the animator remembers his time with the beloved star fondly.
He writes, "There is no word greater than ‘impossible’, to describe the anomaly I was fortunate enough to be a part of. If only for a little while, I was friends with a super hero. From a fan, to a legend, you will be deeply missed."

A casting manager working on THE HOBBIT has been sacked over allegations a British actress was turned down for a role in the film because of her skin colour.
Naz Humphreys, who has Pakistani heritage, auditioned in the New Zealand city of Hamilton last week (ends28Nov10) but alleged she was rejected because movie bosses only wanted "pale-skinned" actors.
She said, "It’s 2010 and I still can’t believe I’m being discriminated against because I have brown skin. The casting manager basically said they weren’t having anybody who wasn’t pale-skinned." A crew member also reportedly published a newspaper advert calling for extras with "light skin tones".
A spokesperson for Peter Jackson insisted no such instructions had come from the director’s Wingnut production company, and a representative has now confirmed a casting agent has been fired over the scandal.
The rep says, "No such instructions were given, the crew member in question took it upon themselves to do that and it’s not something we instructed or condoned… The crew member in question has been dismissed… It’s something we take very seriously."

STAR WARS creator GEORGE LUCAS has paid tribute to late director IRVIN KERSHNER, who helmed his classic movie THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.
Kershner died in November (10) following a long battle with ill health.
He made his name working on movies with A-list stars Sir Sean Connery, Barbra Streisand and Richard Harris in the 1960s and ’70s before Lucas asked him to take charge of the second film in his sci-fi franchise.
And the movie mogul has warmly remembered his late pal, revealing he needed a man he could "trust" to do the 1980 sequel justice.
Lucas says in a statement, "I needed someone I could trust, someone I really admired and whose work had maturity and humour. That was Kersh (sic) all over.
"(He) was a great director and one of the most genuine people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing."

CHRISTINA AGUILERA’s rumoured new romance appears to be getting serious - the singer met her boyfriend’s family over the Thanksgiving weekend (26-28Nov10), according to a U.S. report.

The Moulin Rouge! star scaled back her luxury lifestyle so film bosses could create the emotional movie on a $10 million (£6.6 million) budget.
Kidman, who also serves as a producer on the drama, reveals, "We lived in the house the movie was shot in, shared the bathroom and had blow-up beds to sleep on. When filming on location in a school, I got changed behind a curtain in the headmistress’ office." The film, which sees Kidman play a bereaved mother, is set for release next month (Dec10).

Former DESTINY’S CHILD singer KELLY ROWLAND is in trouble with U.S. tax officials after allegedly failing to hand over more than $98,000 (£65,300).
The Bills, Bills, Bills star was hit with a tax lien by bosses at America’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on 8 November (10).
The papers, filed with the New York City Register and obtained by The Detroit News, suggest Rowland owes payments totalling $98,634 (£65,756).
