STEWART’S SON ENGAGED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

ROD STEWART is "over the moon" after his son SEAN announced he is engaged to be married.
The singer’s 30-year-old son, with his ex-wife Alana Hamilton, has proposed to actress/model Chantel Kendall, who is nine years his senior.
Sean, who has suffered drug problems over the years, reportedly met his 39-year-old bride-to-be during a stint in rehab and they became close following Kendall’s divorce from Kansas City Royals baseball star Jason Kendall earlier his year (10).
He is said to have popped the question shortly after he was arrested for a driving offence in October (10).
A source tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "They decided to get married after his arrest a few weeks ago. Sean says Chantel is a good and calming influence over him. Meanwhile, she’s excited to be marrying into the family of music royalty and Sean has been supportive to her through her divorce." And Sean’s famous father Rod admits he is delighted with the news: "She’s a lovely person, they make a great couple and I’m over the moon that Sean has found happiness."

HATHAWAY’S NERVES AHEAD OF SNL SPOOF

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

ANNE HATHAWAY was wracked with nerves ahead of her recent appearance on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE - because she was worried viewers would misinterpret her spoofs of KATIE HOLMES and princess-to-be KATE MIDDLETON.
The Hollywood actress posed as Prince William’s new fiancee, opposite Andy Samberg as William, during a raucous sketch on Saturday’s (20Nov10) episode of the hit U.S. comedy show.
Later in the programme, she went on to portray fellow actress Katie Holmes, impersonating the Batman Begins star as she was questioned about her eventful life.
Hathaway admits she was wary of impersonating two big stars, and was delighted the sketches were well received.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "(It was) the first time, I’d never done anything like that, and so there wasn’t the pressure of expectation. So, I was a little more nervous going into it, with ‘Would they like it or wouldn’t they?’ But people seem really happy with the results. So I’m thrilled." And Hathaway admits her impersonation of Holmes was actually based on the actress’ Dawson’s Creek character, Joey Potter - because she was a huge follower of the show.
She adds, "I was a teenager when Dawson’s Creek was airing, and I was a pretty avid fan, so it just sort of came from that. It wasn’t really Katie Holmes; it was more Joey Potter."

DICAPRIO FLIES AGAIN AFTER AIR SCARE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO has refused to let a recent air scare keep him grounded - the actor took to the skies again hours after his plane broke down mid-flight on Sunday (21Nov10).
The Titanic star was flying to Moscow, Russia to attend a conservation event when an engine on the Delta aircraft shut down, forcing pilots to make an emergency landing at New York’s JFK International Airport.
But DiCaprio proved his determination to make it to the tiger summit when he promptly booked another flight, according to reports.
A source tells Eonline.com, "DiCaprio is on board a plane right now headed to St. Petersburg to attend the historic tiger summit hosted by (Russian Prime Minister) Vladimir Putin." The star has pledged to present a $1 million (£667,000) cheque to the World Wildlife Fund on behalf of his environmental organisation, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.
He says, "Illegal poaching of tigers for their parts and massive habitat loss due to palm oil, timber and paper production are driving this species to extinction. If we don’t take action now, one of the most iconic animals on our planet could be gone in just a few decades. By saving tigers, we can also protect some of our last remaining ancient forests and improve the lives of indigenous communities."

DUFFY DARED TO CHALLENGE HAMMOND

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:39 pm

Welsh singer DUFFY won over veteran songwriter ALBERT HAMMOND after daring to "rip apart" his ideas in collaborative sessions.
Hammond invited the Mercy hitmaker to join him in the studio and she snubbed invitations to the hottest parties in Los Angeles to record with the veteran musician.
And Duffy admits she shocked Hammond by offering her own take on his tracks.
She says, "Albert had asked to meet… He said, ‘I’ve got this song title Don’t Forsake Me. I said, ‘That sounds like the soundtrack of my life.’ "Around that time in L.A., there were always massive parties. So I had a choice: I could either go dancing with Hollywood or go and hang with Albert. So I went to Albert’s house, and his wife made me tea.
"He’s the most esteemed songwriter and I had the audacity to rip it apart. I look back and think, ‘How rude!’ But I knew this was a song that reflected elements of my life. Albert was like, ‘Brave kid. Well done.’"

ENO INVENTED GAGA’S FLESH DRESS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:36 pm

BRIAN ENO was stunned when he saw LADY GAGA’s headline-grabbing meat dress at an awards show earlier this year (10) - because he pioneered a "flesh" shirt 40 years ago.
The legendary music producer was an art student in England in the 1960s when he dreamed up the idea of clothing made from animal corpses, and fashioned a top from imitation meat.
And he admits he felt years ahead of his time when he saw the Poker Face hitmaker wearing a similar outfit at the MTV Video Music Awards in September (10).
Eno tells Britain’s Seven magazine, "I was a bit fed up about the meat dress, I have to say. When I was at art school in the late Sixties, I was at a college with a big textiles department.
"I took a picture of the back of a butcher’s van with all the meat hanging up, printed it on some cloth and had a shirt made, which was basically a flesh shirt. I must admit though, her garment was a bl**dy sight better than the one I made."

MASSIVE ATTACK RELEASE CHARITY ALBUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:36 pm

Dance music duo MASSIVE ATTACK are donating all the proceeds from their new mini-album to the War Child charity.
Robert Del Naja and Grant Marshall are longstanding supporters of the organisation, working with charity bosses to highlight the plight of needy kids in areas of conflict such as Bosnia and Sarajevo.
And they’ve pledged to boost the cause’s funds with their new release, Atlas Air.
Del Naja tells BBC 6 Music, "They do a lot of great work in different territories which aren’t really that newsworthy anymore maybe. When the glare of the camera is gone and the focus isn’t on that place obviously other people need to step in and help work on the ground with the kids out there, who are still in really awful environments and predicaments."

SCHERZINGER ADMITS ‘BROODY’ BLUNDER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:36 pm

Singer NICOLE SCHERZINGER has admitted she’s to blame for a series of reports she’s desperate for children - because she told journalists she is "broody" without realising what it meant.
The Pussycat Dolls star, who is dating British racing driver Lewis Hamilton, told in September (10) how she was eyeing marriage with the sports ace and wanted to start a family, adding: "I’m feeling broody." But the American singer now insists children are not on the horizon - and she gave reporters the wrong impression because she didn’t know the British word "broody" means longing for kids.
She tells Britain’s S magazine, "There was a lot of stuff in the British press about me being broody, but I didn’t even know what broody meant when I got there. Now I know what it means and I can tell you I’m not broody at all. All my attention is on the career at the moment. Babies may come later but a long, long way down the line."

LYDON FUMING OVER MONEY-MAKING FESTIVALS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:34 pm

Former SEX PISTOLS star JOHN LYDON laments the loss of "free will" at modern music festivals - insisting organisers only care about making money and selling tickets.
The rocker is gearing up to play a number of outdoor events with his band Public Image Ltd next summer (11) but admits the rock ‘n’ roll spirit of the gigs has vanished.
He says, "Next year’s gigs are booked. I love the festivals, although the spirit of free will just isn’t there which festivals used to have.
"Forty years ago, festivals were stunning and now it is just people with cash in hand, which is a little tough. It is all about headlining and half the bands are miming anyway."

MINAJ’S TEARS FOR LATE GRANDMOTHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:34 pm

NICKI MINAJ showed her softer side during the filming of her new documentary, weeping as she discussed her late grandmother and her troubled childhood.
The rapper was born in Trinidad and Tobago and she was raised by her grandmother when her parents moved to America to carve out a new life for the family.
She eventually joined her mother and father in New York, but admits she struggled to cope in the years without her parents and was deeply disappointed when she eventually saw where they were living.
Speaking in My Time Now, she says, "A lot of times, when you’re from the islands, your parents leave and then send for you because it’s easier when they have established themselves; when they have a place to stay, when they have a job. I thought it was gonna be for a few days, it turned into two years without my mother… (When I went to New York) I thought it was gonna be like a castle. Like white picket fence, like a fairy tale. I got off the plane and it was cold. I remember the smell. I could always remember the smell when I got out of the airport of the snow, and I had never seen snow. I remember the house. I remember that the furniture wasn’t put down. It was, like, piled up on each other, and I didn’t understand why, ’cause I thought it was gonna look like a big castle." Minaj was devastated when her beloved grandmother died seven years ago and she became overwhelmed with emotion when the painful subject was brought up in the interview for the new TV film.
When she was asked if her grandmother would be proud of her achievements, Minaj became choked up and was only able to nod her head as tears began to roll down her cheeks.
She attempted to hide her face as she fixed her make-up, but couldn’t control her sobs.
The show will air in America on 28 November (10) on MTV.

FIENNES’ HARRY POTTER HELL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

RALPH FIENNES suffered for his art on the set of the HARRY POTTER movies - the actor spent two and a half hours in make-up every day and was unable to eat once the prosthetics had been applied to his face.
The Brit plays villainous Lord Voldemort in the wizard franchise and he had to undergo a total transformation to take on the character’s creepy appearance.
Fiennes wore a prosthetic nose and fake teeth and the uncomfortable make-up meant he had to go hungry whenever he was working.
He tells the New York Post, "Every day I was shooting, I had to spend an extra two and a half hours just to get into make-up. It was difficult because on top of everything else I couldn’t get any break from it. Besides the actual prosthesis, my character also had a set of fake false teeth. When we broke for lunch, I couldn’t eat. I had to take them out each time I wanted anything." The Schindler’s List star also had to wear pantyhose under his long wizard robes and he struggled to stop them falling down.
He adds, "I also had to deal with suspenders because my wardrobe included tights which, as I moved about, kept working their way down. They kept falling all the time. (But) I could pee. The outfit was constructed so that there was room and I could actually pull out my friend."

WINSTONE TOO MELLOW TO WORRY ABOUT MONEY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

RAY WINSTONE has blamed his former money struggles on his laid-back attitude, insisting he could have secured his finances if he had bothered to keep track of his spending.
The Sexy Beast star’s career stalled in the 1980s and he was forced to file for bankruptcy twice as he spiralled into debt.
But the Brit takes full responsibility for his woes, admitting he enjoyed spending his cash too much to worry about it running out.
He says, "I just didn’t know how to handle money. It was my fault. I wasn’t earning a lot of money. When I worked, I was just spending it. It was a laugh, you know.
"But I’ve never really worried about anything, you know. That’s my trouble, I don’t get stressed. If I did, I’d have probably not got into that situation in the first place."

FELTON CLUELESS ABOUT POTTER AT FIRST AUDITION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:28 pm

TOM FELTON is convinced he won his role in the HARRY POTTER franchise because he knew nothing about the hit books.
The 23 year old plays fiendish schoolboy Draco Malfoy in the wizard movies and Felton admits his first audition set him aside from the rest of the acting wannabes.
He says, "It was open auditions to the whole of the country and I think I was the only child out of 20,000 that had no idea what Harry Potter was, which made it very hard as they were asking the children which scenes they were looking forward to seeing from the book come to the film.
"It got to two away from me when I realised I didn’t have an answer. The guy next to me said something about (Harry Potter bank) Gringotts and goblins so I was just like, ‘Yeah, those Gringotts sound awesome’, and the director saw straight through me. I think that helped me get the part of Draco!"

PELLETIER USED ‘STREET FIGHT’ TECHNIQUE TO ESCAPE ATTACKERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:28 pm

TWILIGHT star BRONSON PELLETIER used his "street background" to escape after he was attacked by a group of drunken men at a fan convention in England, according to his manager.
The actor, who plays werewolf Jared in the franchise, was confronted in the restroom of Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole Hotel while attending the Eternal Twilight 4 event earlier this month (Nov10).
The 24 year old was allegedly held in a headlock, but managed to free himself using fight skills he’s learned.
His manager Darren Boidman tells GossipCop.com, "(Pelletier was) signing autographs and taking pictures at an after-hours Twilight convention party (when men) who were at a wedding at the same venue thought it would be funny to put my client in a neck lock and threaten him. To their surprise, Bronson Pelletier, who has a ’street’ background elbowed and fought his way loose in true wolf pack spirit. When he came back with some other ‘wolves’ to even the odds, these drunk a**holes were long gone." Boidman has also dismissed reports the actor’s nose was broken in the altercation, adding, "(He) is fine and was not hospitalised as some other reports have stated."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

CAREY MULLIGAN was so desperate to land a role in the forthcoming movie DRIVE, she persuaded the director to rewrite the script and change her character’s Latin roots.
The porcelain-skinned star knew she wasn’t ideal to play a Mexican single mum in the action film, but managed to convince Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn to cast her anyway.
She recalls, "My agent said, ‘The role is a Latina woman in her late-20s but you should just read it.’ So I went and met the director and tried to persuade him that he should let me do it." Refn was so impressed after their meeting, he handed Mulligan the part and altered the character’s heritage.

FELTON’S SMASHING TIME ON LOPEZ’S SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:25 pm

Actor TOM FELTON showed off his golfing skills on U.S. TV on Monday (22Nov10) by aiming shots at photos of his HARRY POTTER co-stars.
The 23 year old was a guest on Lopez Tonight, and during the interview he revealed he has taken up golf as a hobby.
He explained, "Recently I’ve taken up the art, or the sport, of golf. I’ve tried to - I actually find it more infuriating than relaxing. I nearly ended up snapping the club on my knee a few times." And host George Lopez challenged him to show off his putting ability, handing him a club to hit balls into a bookcase filled with photographs of his Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, as well as ornaments and crockery.
Felton hit a number of shots during the 20-second time limit, and at the end of the segment Lopez presented him with a special edition club, christened the ‘Harry Putter’.
