Rockers QUEENSRYCHE were left fearing for their lives after they were caught up in a bomb attack while visiting troops in Iraq.
The heavy metal band flew to the Middle East to play for U.S. soldiers and suffered minor injuries in an explosion near the base where they were staying.
Singer Geoff Tate tells BraveWords.com, "We got bombed. We had to spend a lot of hours in bunkers there, waiting for the insurgents to get under control. We all lived through it although we got injured - that was a scary situation.
"A mortar landed about a hundred yards from where I was standing - the ground just shook. It was amazingly powerful and scared the hell out of me. I’d just been standing there watching the sun come up, eating a little container of yoghurt and boom - the bomb goes off. It was pretty darn intense." But Tate refuses to let the scare keep him from venturing to another war zone - the rockers are already eyeing a trip to Afghanistan.
He adds, "It’s the least an entertainer can do. Every soldier we met said the same thing: ‘Our life is like Groundhog Day - it’s the same as the last day.’ The only break they have in the monotony is when they have entertainment come in, and it doesn’t happen all the time. I’d definitely go back. In fact, we’re planning on going to Afghanistan as soon as it cools down a little bit."

Pop star PINK feared she would be "paralysed" for life when a stage stunt went wrong at a concert in July (10).
The singer was forced to cut short a gig in Nuremberg, Germany when a harness she used for her acrobatic act malfunctioned and sent her crashing into a metal barrier.
The So What hitmaker was taken to a nearby hospital, and admits she was scared she had caused permanent damage because she had no feeling in her legs.
Pink tells the Associated Press, "It’s hard to complain (about pain) when you’re married to (motorcycle racer) Carey Hart. He basically crashes for a living.
"It hurt a lot and I was worried that I was going to be paralysed and break my back, and I couldn’t feel my legs, and then felt really embarrassed because an entire arena full of people were staring at me." But the brave pop star, who is now pregnant with her first child, insists she didn’t hesitate to return to the stage hours later: "I had a show the very next night, so if I wasn’t paralysed then I wasn’t cancelling because I don’t cancel shows."

T.I. turned to his pal EMINEM at the height of his drug addiction, revealing the reformed rapper helped him talk through his problems.
The Live Your Life star, real name Clifford Harris, Jr., was jailed earlier this month (Nov10) for parole violation after cops allegedly found drugs during a search of his car in September (10).
T.I. recently admitted he became hooked on prescription pills, but enrolled in therapy sessions to kick his habits following his arrest.
And the star has now revealed he opened up about his drug issues to Eminem, who spent years battling his own addictions.
T.I. tells Vibe magazine, "Sure (we talked). We got a record together, and we talked a lot. I asked him how he knew he was an addict. Basically if you put yourself in harm’s way… if you risk that, you’ve got to assume that there is something fundamentally wrong with your thought process."

MICHAEL BUBLE is planning to wed his fiancee twice, with marriage ceremonies in both their native countries.
The Canadian crooner, who previously dated actress Emily Blunt, is now engaged to actress/singer Luisana Lopilato.
Buble proposed last November (09) and has spent the last year planning the wedding.
The singer has now revealed they will exchange vows in April (11) and they have scheduled one wedding in Lopilato’s native Argentina, which will be followed by a second ceremony in Canada.
Buble tells ET Canada, "We are doing one in Argentina and that’s for her close family, and then we are doing one in Vancouver!" The kind-hearted couple will also forfeit a luxurious honeymoon in favour of a volunteering trip to Africa. Buble adds, "(We will) go help kids and do stuff like that… her idea."

T.I. has branded officials who sent him back to jail "petty" for punishing him over his recent arrest - because he had managed to turn his "life around" since his last prison stint.
The hip-hop star was jailed earlier this month (Nov10) for parole violation after he and his wife Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle were detained by police officers who allegedly found drugs during a search of the couple’s car.
The arrest came just months after he was freed from a previous stint behind bars on weapons possession charges.
The rapper is adamant court officials should have taken into consideration his efforts to mend his ways since his last incarceration, insisting he shouldn’t have been "crucified" for "three pills".
In an interview with Vibe magazine, given before he was jailed again, he says, "In all of this chaos and this mischief and lawlessness, the person who was just in jail for machine guns and silencers turns his life around. And now you want to crucify him for what? Three pills. I mean, of course it’s wrong and unacceptable and inexcusable. No problem. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s rather petty.
"It’s rather petty to hold someone’s feet to the fire for something so small when they have overcame (sic) things that were so big. All that could have been going wrong if I was riding with more guns, or if I had gotten into a shoot-out and killed somebody, then I could see that. But just think about it. I’ve gotten it down to this much." T.I. also compares himself to other victims of injustice, citing Jesus and Martin Luther King as examples, adding, "(Those in authority are) human… they can’t help themselves. They do that to people they know personally. So how can I expect them to treat me, only knowing me through television? They did that to Jesus. They did that to Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali. They did it to every great person you could possibly think of. When it was all good, they was (sic) with them. When things got bad, then they was (sic) against them."

British actor TOM FELTON was so nervous about playing opposite SIR MICHAEL GAMBON in HARRY POTTER, he forgot his rigorously-rehearsed lines The veteran actor took on the role of headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the third film of the wizard franchise, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, after Richard Harris passed away in 2002.
Felton, who was a young teenager at the time, admits he was starstruck when he filmed a scene with Gambon - and became tongue-tied as a result.
He recalls, "I was a youngster and Michael Gambon - who plays the fabulous Dumbledore - he’s quite a guy, he’s an amazing actor. I remember working with him for the very first time with his four foot beard and crazy hair.
"It was a very nervous time and I actually forgot every line I was supposed to say. I felt so bad at the time, it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I had been practising those lines for weeks. They should have been in my head! "I took him out and said ‘Michael, I’m so sorry, I can’t apologise enough’, and he insisted the amount of money he was on per week I could mess him up as much as I liked. He was a very sweet guy and made me feel very comfortable very quickly."

RACHEL MCADAMS tried to dissuade director ROGER MICHELL from casting her in his movie MORNING GLORY - because she was terrified she would "let him down" in the lead role.
The actress admits she was "nervous" about portraying an upstart TV producer in the comedy and even tried to convince Michell she wasn’t right for the project.
She tells MovieHole.net, "I tried to talk Roger out of it a few times, and thankfully he didn’t listen to me. I was very nervous about playing this character and taking on this part, and I didn’t want to let him down. I was very hesitant and we talked about it a little bit and he put my fears at bay." And McAdams insists she owes her performance to the filmmaker, who encouraged her to let loose on the set.
She recalls, "I think what Roger did for me which was so great was he got me out of my head and into my body. He said, ‘Just run around - wave your arms and something will happen.’ So that’s kind of how I got through this movie."

DAVID DUCHOVNY has received a slew of scathing reviews for his Broadway debut - his performance in THE BREAK OF NOON has been branded "bland", "dull" and "monotonous".
The X-Files star appears in the Neil LaBute play opposite Amanda Peet, who he previously shared the screen with in 2008 movie The X-Files: I Want To Believe.
But Duchovny’s turn in the production, which tells the story of a man who survives a horrific mass shooting, has failed to impress New York’s theatre critics, who have savaged his performance in a series of negative reviews.
Joe Dziemianowicz, of the New York Daily News, writes, "Duchovny’s performance is colourless and dull. His long opening monologue… has all the dynamism of bland hospital broth. He seems disengaged, even though, ironically, his presence is responsible for the production’s extended run." Ben Brantley, of the New York Times, describes the "monotony" of the production, adding, "Mr. Duchovny… does admirably by his opening monologue but then fails to find enough variation… to hold our attention, " while the New York Post’s Frank Scheck brands Duchovny’s performance "bland".
Jeremy Gerard, of Bloomberg, adds, "Duchovny leaves whatever sex appeal (he) might have in that Snuggi… It’s a subdued performance, lacking connection to the other characters or the audience…
"Whether that’s from a lack of stage experience or because even he can’t believe anybody is buying… the story is hard to say."

GORDON RAMSAY’s financial woes look set to worsen - the British chef is facing a lawsuit from a garbage disposal company over allegations he failed to pay for his rubbish to be collected.
The food guru has seen his international business empire plunged into financial turmoil in recent months after his restaurants were hit hard by the global economic downturn.
Ramsay has pumped $8 million (£5 million) of his own money into the company, but he’s faced mounting tax demands and allegations of unpaid bills from a number of suppliers.
The financial outlook for Ramsay’s firm is looking even more gloomy after executives at refuse collection company Daniello Carting Co. filed suit against the star, alleging he has failed to pay the bill for garbage which was removed from outside his New York eaterie.
The legal papers, obtained by TMZ.com, state the chef owes $24,766 (£16,511) for collections made from his Manhattan restaurant, Gordon Ramsay at The London.

NATALIE PORTMAN was left in agony after she "dislocated a rib" on the set of new movie BLACK SWAN - because producers couldn’t afford an on-site medic.
The 29-year-old actress, who plays a ballerina in the Darren Aronofsky film, spent up to eight hours a day in dance training to make her portrayal believable.
Portman appeared on U.S. programme the Late Show with David Letterman on Monday night (22Nov10), revealing the sidesplitting pain she suffered after a lift went wrong.
She said, "I injured a rib, I like dislocated a rib, it sort of went under another one, when you get lifted it just sort of went under." But there was no one on set to tend to her injury - because the film’s budget didn’t stretch to include an on-call doctor.
She added: "It’s funny because when I got injured I called the producer, I was like ‘Could you get the medic? I need an ice pack or something right now,’ and he was like, ‘Oh, we don’t have a medic because it’s super low budget.’ "I have been working for like twenty years, I don’t even think that’s legal. I was like before you take away a medic, take away my trailer and the next day I didn’t have a trailer, I swear to God!"

ANGELINA JOLIE and BRAD PITT have been praised for "understanding the power of family" after donating $150,000 (£94,000) to promote adoption.
The generous Hollywood stars, who are parents to three adopted children, handed over the sum in recognition of America’s National Adoption Day on Saturday (20Nov10).
Their money will be used to benefit the world’s largest orphan charity, SOS Children’s Villages.

KANYE WEST is expanding his business empire with a string of new ventures, including a fashion collaboration and plans to launch his own fragrance.
The rapper has his sights set on building up his personal brand and is partnering with bosses at fragrance manufacturer Parlux to produce his own cologne, expected to hit stores next year (11).
The Stronger hitmaker is also said to be in talks with designers at French fashion house Lanvin about creating a high-end clothing range.
His manager Gee Roberson tells theDailyBeast.com, "It’s safe to say that we’ll be doing more strategic partnerships in areas like fashion and design.

The actress/model who was with CHARLIE SHEEN the night he reportedly trashed a hotel room in New York has filed a police complaint accusing the star of second-degree harassment.
The Two and a Half Men actor hit headlines in October (10) when police were called to his suite at the plush Plaza Hotel over reports he ransacked his room during a night of passion with Capri Anderson.
Anderson broke her silence about the incident in a series of TV interviews on Monday (22Nov10), alleging she locked herself in the bathroom in terror after the star accused her of taking his watch and began hurling insults at her and throwing items around the hotel room.
She likened the incident to a scene from "a horror film" and her lawyer announced Anderson would be taking her grievance to police.
The 22 year old met with detectives from the New York Police Department (NYPD) at her attorney’s Manhattan office on Monday (22Nov10) and she filed a second-degree harassment complaint against the star.
It was previously reported she would be accusing Sheen of battery and false imprisonment, but cops have told the New York Post Anderson made no claim that Sheen injured her.
The star’s lawyers vehemently deny Anderson’s allegations and they filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Monday accusing her of extortion.
In the legal papers, Sheen’s attorneys allege Anderson "fabricated a sensational tale about being assaulted, battered and held against her will, and used that fictional story as a basis for an extortion plot against Sheen, threatening that if he did not pay her at least one million dollars, she would… seek to embarrass him and attempt to damage his career by going to the media with her false tale." Sheen’s lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, as well as "compensatory damages" of at least $165,000 (£110,000) for the watch he claims Anderson took during their encounter.

ASHTON KUTCHER is urging his online fans to donate money to help build a new children’s hospital in California.
The Just Married star has set up a group on Facebook.com to campaign for funds to open a new facility to treat sick kids at San Francisco’s UCSF Medical Center.
And Kutcher is determined to get as much money as he can for the initiative, in a bid to beat other fundraising pages on the website.
In a post on the site, he writes, "The UCSF Medical Center is building a new children’s hospital in San Francisco that will offer world-class care for children and their families. I’m helping out and have created a team that’s competing against a bunch of others for the most donations.
"We’re in 2nd place, but I play to win. If you can spare $10, please visit my page on Facebook and donate to this great cause."

MARK WAHLBERG has credited director PENNY MARSHALL with changing his life by convincing him to pursue acting.
The Departed star spent time in prison for assault as a teen but he was determined to turn his life around after his release by becoming a rapper and a model.
Wahlberg admits he didn’t consider a career in movies until Marshall pointed him in the right direction and cast him in her 1994 comedy Renaissance Man.
He tells the Hollywood Reporter, "When I sat down with her, I was like, ‘Nah, I don’t wanna act.’ She goes, ‘What do you mean? You’re acting all the time, you’re acting right now. You know, you’re just acting like you’re cool, you act like a tough guy. You know, take the pages.
