PAUL HOGAN is planning to fight for compensation from Australian authorities who investigated him for alleged tax fraud - because he spent millions of dollars defending his name.
The Crocodile Dundee star was accused of using offshore bank accounts to conceal his earnings, but a long criminal investigation into his financial dealings was dropped this week (beg22Nov10).
Hogan’s lawyer admits the actor is "relieved" he has been cleared, and is now weighing up his options about recouping the money he spent attempting to protect his reputation during the case.
His attorney, Andrew Robinson, tells the AAP, "This has generated more than a million press articles here and overseas. It’s been front page in Ecuador, Romania, Ireland, all sorts of extraordinary places, and the difficulty is that when these reports were made they tended to refer to (Hogan and his business partner, John Cornell) as the Australian tax cheats.
"That’s the trashing of a reputation that is going to be hard to get back… Paul’s initial reaction is that he wants to talk to people about what they are going to do about the millions of dollars he spent defending his name… Given these proceedings were dropped in the way they were, I think he will be instructing us about the possibility of making some submission in regard to compensation." Australian Taxation Office (ATO) officials are still pursuing the 70 year old for the reported $32.1 million (£21.4 million) tax bill he allegedly still owes. Hogan admitted in August (10) that he couldn’t afford to pay even 10 per cent of that sum.

EWAN MCGREGOR was forced to miss a movie screening in New York this week (beg22Nov10) after he was trapped in Thailand during a monsoon, according to a U.S. report.
The Scottish actor was due to attend the I Love You Phillip Morris showing on Monday (22Nov10) but heavy rain left him grounded in Asia.
McGregor is currently in Thailand filming forthcoming tsunami disaster movie The Impossible, reports New York Post gossip column Page Six.
His co-star Jim Carrey - who plays McGregor’s onscreen lover in the comedy - was in attendance at the event, as well as the real Phillip Morris, whose life story inspired the film.

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN star RANDY QUAID is facing yet another delay before officials decide whether to grant him refugee status in Canada.
Quaid turned up for a hearing at the Immigration and Refugee Board in Vancouver on Tuesday (23Nov10) to state his case for sanctuary.
But the actor’s hearing was delayed after his lawyer asked for more time to review documents, reports Eonline.com.
It’s the second time this month (Nov10) that attorney Catherine Sas requested and received a continuance to allow further preparation.
A new refugee hearing has not been scheduled but a pre-hearing is set for 22 December (10).
Quaid and his wife Evi were arrested in Vancouver last month (Oct10) on outstanding U.S. warrants related to vandalism charges.
They are wanted in Santa Barbara, California, where they missed a third court hearing in as many weeks earlier this month (Nov10).
The couple fled to Canada after alleging they were being persecuted by "Hollywood star whackers" and that their lives were in danger.

Actor MICHAEL L. BREA has been charged with murder after his mother was allegedly stabbed to death with a Samurai sword.
Brea, who has appeared in Ugly Betty and Step Up 3D, was arrested on Tuesday (23Nov10) on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon after an alleged fight with his mum Yannick in her New York City apartment.
Cops responding to neighbours’ alerts found the 55-year-old mum in the bathroom with cuts to her head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly tells the Associated Press, "In a bedroom was her son… with a three-foot sword." Brea, who has no prior convictions, was taken to a nearby hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
It is not known what caused the alleged domestic dispute but residents in the Brooklyn neighbourhood claim they heard the star repeatedly screaming, "Repent, repent, sinner, sinner" and "You never accepted Jesus!"

Rap superstar KANYE WEST treated a select group of fans to a surprise, star-studded concert in New York on Tuesday night (23Nov10) when he performed his new album MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY in its entirety.
The Stronger hitmaker announced the Bowery Ballroom show on Tuesday morning, just a couple of hours before tickets went onsale online. The $100 (£67) tickets, which were limited to two per person, sold out within minutes.
Those lucky enough to gain entrance to the late gig were sent into a frenzy when West stepped onstage just after midnight and began to perform his latest release from start to finish.
The setlist included his hit single Power, Runaway, and the all-star collaboration Monster, for which he was joined onstage by Nicki Minaj.
Celebrity fans at the intimate venue, which has a capacity of just 550, included The Roots drummer Ahmir ‘?uestlove’ Thompson, music executive Lyor Cohen and comedian Aziz Ansari.
A thrilled Thompson took to his Twitter.com page to congratulate West on the gig, writing: "5 star night. Whole album executed nice… Kanye killed tonight."

COLIN FARRELL is desperate to land another project with KEIRA KNIGHTLEY after their turn in LONDON BOULEVARD - insisting it was easy to work with her because she is so "gorgeous and lovely".

JOHN TRAVOLTA and KELLY PRESTON have a new addition to their family - baby boy BENJAMIN.
The actress gave birth in a Florida hospital on Tuesday (23Nov10). The tot, who weighed in at eight pounds (3.7 kilograms), will be a little brother to the couple’s 10-year-old daughter Ella Bleu.
A statement from the family reads: "John, Kelly and their daughter Ella Bleu are ecstatic and very happy about the newest member of the family.
"Both mother and baby are healthy and doing beautifully." The stars’ baby joy comes less than two years after their 16-year-old son Jett suffered a fatal seizure at their holiday home in the Bahamas in January 2009.

JAMIROQUAI frontman JAY KAY has blasted SEX PISTOLS rocker JOHN LYDON, accusing him of becoming a "nuisance" during a long-haul flight to Australia.
The singer was sitting next to Lydon, also known as Johnny Rotten, when he was flying Down Under - and he was infuriated when the controversial star repeatedly passed gas throughout the entire journey.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "He is a f**king nuisance. I was seated next to him on a flight and the whole trip he just kept farting. It was totally foul. He kept saying, ‘Oh, that wasn’t me’ or ‘The meal smells a bit off, don’t you think?’ He drove me insane." The experience was so bad Jay Kay insists he’d prefer to move to economy class rather than be seated next to Lydon again, adding: "At least I’d be able to breathe a bit. They banned smoking in the air and they should ban farting."

Grammy-winner BEN HARPER has altered the date of his separation from LAURA DERN on his divorce papers - pushing it back by six months.
The singer-songwriter filed for divorce in Los Angeles last month (08Oct10) citing irreconcilable differences after five years of marriage.
Harper originally claimed in the petition that he split from the Jurassic Park actress in January (10), but on Friday (19Nov10) the star’s lawyer changed the date to state the couple broke up on 1 July (10) instead.
No reason was given for the alteration.

HAPPY MONDAYS star BEZ has been arrested for failing to answer bail following allegations he harassed his ex-girlfriend.
The dancer/percussionist’s former partner Monica Ward accused him of breaching his restraining order by calling and sending her text messages after he was found guilty in August (10) of attacking her during a domestic dispute.
Bez, real name Mark Berry, was jailed for a month and banned from contacting Ward for two years after he refused to carry out his community service sentence.
Police officers launched a search for the star earlier this week (beg22Nov10) after he missed his last scheduled bail appointment on 17 November (10) and they were unable to contact him.
He was discovered by officers from British Transport Police at Euston train station in London on Tuesday (23Nov10) and taken into custody.
A police spokesperson says, "Mark Berry has been charged with breach of a restraining order and trespass on a railway. He has also been given a warning under the Harassment Act 1997." Bez is due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (24Nov10).

Rocker JON BON JOVI’s charity restaurant in his native New Jersey has become an instant hit as those hit hard by the recession dine out to help each other through tough times.
The singer’s Soul Kitchen initiative was inspired by a news item Bon Jovi saw on TV about how dining out gave struggling families a real lift.
And the rock star decided to set up a "food bank" linked to a New Jersey soup kitchen, where families could eat for free in return for volunteer work.
He explains, "You come and there’s no prices on the menu, so the dignity of a family having this wonderful experience together (is restored)… and if you can’t pay, you volunteer… either in the food pantry or in the kitchen or prepping.
"And if you can pay, you wanna see effective change, put a $20 (dollar bill) in the envelope because you’ve just paid for the meal for the family next to you." And he insists he’s no absentee boss - he, his wife, daughter and father all help out at The Soul Kitchen.
He adds, "If you ever wanna come and see me washing dishes, I’m really good at it."

AXL ROSE is suing the bosses behind popular game series GUITAR HERO for more than $20 million (£13.3 million) for alleged breach of contract and fraud.
The Guns N’ Roses frontman filed a lawsuit on Tuesday (23Nov10) at Los Angeles Superior Court claiming Activision Blizzard chiefs "fraudulently induced" him into authorising the band’s song Welcome to the Jungle in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
Rose claims bosses promised him the game wouldn’t feature any reference to his former bandmate Slash or the guitarist’s band Velvet Revolver, before releasing a cover featuring "an animated depiction of Slash, with his signature black top hat, long dark curly hair, dark sunglasses and nose-piercing".
The lawsuit states, "(Activision Blizzard) began spinning a web of lies and deception to conceal its true intentions to not only feature Slash and VR (Velvet Revolver) prominently in GH III, but also promote the game by emphasising and reinforcing an association between Slash and Guns N’ Roses and the band’s song Welcome to the Jungle." Rose’s lawyer, Skip Miller, adds, "This lawsuit is about protecting Guns N’ Roses and Welcome to the Jungle, and is about holding Activision accountable for its misuse of these incredibly valuable assets. The relief we are seeking is disgorgement of profits and compensatory and punitive damages." Rose is seeking $20 million (£13.3 million) in damages from sales of the hit game.

BILLY BOB THORNTON is set to return to directing after confessing lead roles are drying up for him.
The Oscar winner admits his movie star days might be behind him after struggling to find meaty roles following a two-year hiatus from Hollywood - and so he’s stepping back behind a camera for the first time in almost a decade.
The star tells Deadline.com, "My old writing partner Tom Epperson and I just wrote another script, we haven’t written together in years, 15 maybe. And we’re hoping to get that made in the spring, that’s what we’re working on right now." Thornton is also hoping to reprise his Bad Santa role for a sequel.
He adds, "Bad Santa’s become like a classic Christmas movie. People watch It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th St and Bad Santa.
"There’s been talk of making a sequel to it, which I actually would like to do. I’ve never done a sequel to one of my movies, but that one makes sense to me to do it."

The Pianist star announced she was expecting her first child with her actor boyfriend Jeremy Gilley earlier this year (10).

JENNIFER GREY has been crowned the new winner of U.S. TV competition DANCING WITH THE STARS.
The actress made her name in the 1987 classic Dirty Dancing, opposite Patrick Swayze, and she donned her dance shoes once again for the celebrity showdown after years away from the spotlight.
She saw off competition from actor Kyle Massey and politician Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol during the show’s finale on Tuesday night (23Nov10).
Palin came third in the competition after gaining the least amount of votes, leaving Grey and her dance partner Derek Hough to battle it out with Massey for the title.
Grey scored a perfect 30 for her Viennese Waltz and a 28 for her Cha Cha - her final dances on Tuesday’s show.
After winning, the star revealed she nearly pulled out of the finale after rupturing a disc in her spine on Monday night (22Nov10), prompting a brief hospital visit. Grey has been plagued with injuries throughout the competition after undergoing a string of spinal surgeries to repair torn ligaments in her neck.
With her actress pal Jamie Lee Curtis and Cabaret star dad Joel Grey looking on from the studio audience, she admitted, "I didn’t think I was going to compete tonight and I’m really glad I did." A source confirms to the website that Richie and Madden’s daughter, Harlow, will be the flower girl.
Richie was overheard chatting about the nuptials with best friend Aguilera at the Soho house in Los Angeles earlier this month (Nov10).
Richie and Madden have been dating for over four years and have two children together - Harlow, two, and Sparrow, one.
