MONAGHAN SMASHES BUZZ ALDRIN’S SPEED RECORD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

LORD OF THE RINGS star DOMINIC MONAGHAN has shot to top of the leader board on American motor show TOP GEAR after racing round a track faster than astronaut BUZZ ALDRIN.
The producers of the U.S. spin-off of the hit British show invited the actor to test his driving skills on the programme even though he famously knows nothing about cars.
But Monaghan was more than pleasantly surprised when he found himself shattering Aldrin’s track time.
He says, "I’m not a big car fan at all… It’s my least favourite form of transport.
"My agent said, ‘Go on, have some fun’. We had a really great time. They do this thing called A Star in A Modest Car, so you drive a really rubbish car around a racetrack and I broke the record. I obliterated the record.
"I smashed it by about 20 seconds; it takes about a minute 40 to go around the track."

FONDA TO WED FOURTH HUSBAND IN 2011

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:28 pm

Veteran actress JANE FONDA is planning to walk down the aisle for the fourth time next year (11) after surviving a breast cancer scare, according to U.S. reports.
The Barbarella star, 72, underwent surgery earlier this month (Nov10) to remove a lump from her breast after doctors discovered a small "non-invasive" tumour during a routine check-up.
The Oscar winner is now cancer-free and the health crisis has prompted her to seal her romance with music producer Richard Perry, who supported Fonda throughout the traumatic experience.
The couple, which became engaged in 2009, was said to have called off its wedding plans earlier this year (10), with the actress telling TV talk show titan Oprah Winfrey in October (10), "I’m not going to get married again." But Fonda has been overwhelmed by Perry’s devotion to her during her health struggle and they are preparing to exchange vows in 2011, reports the National Enquirer.
A source tells the publication, "Richard has been a rock. He stuck by her side through the whole ordeal and promised to take care of her, no matter how serious the situation turned out to be.
"Seeing Richard step up to the plate made Jane realise he is truly the man for her… The cancer changed Jane’s priorities. He’s the man of her dreams, and Jane wants to be with him for the rest of her life." Fonda has been married three times before - to late French director Roger Vadim, former politician Tom Hayden and media mogul Ted Turner.

WEST: ‘SWIFT NEVER CAME TO MY DEFENCE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:28 pm

KANYE WEST has sparked fresh controversy over his fall-out with TAYLOR SWIFT following his stage invasion at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards - accusing the singer of using the incident to bolster her fame.
The pair hit the headlines after West stormed the stage at the VMAs to protest Swift’s win, declaring her Best Female Video prize belonged to his friend Beyonce.
He was forced to apologise to the country sweetheart after facing a public backlash for his antics and he stepped away from the spotlight for several months to reflect on his actions.
West made his comeback earlier this year (10) and even channelled his sorrow about the moment in his song Runaway.
But the rapper has risked alienating fans again - at a surprise performance of his acclaimed new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in New York City on Tuesday night (23Nov10), West launched into yet another tirade aimed at the 20-year-old star.
During his rant, West appeared to suggest the Love Story singer capitalised on the incident to boost her career as he was being attacked in the press.
He raged, "Taylor never came to my defence at any interview. And rode the waves and rode it and rode it."

RICHARDS WORKING WITH COPS IN SHEEN HOTEL CASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

DENISE RICHARDS is working with New York police detectives investigating a harassment complaint filed against her ex-husband CHARLIE SHEEN following an incident in a hotel room with adult actress CAPRI ANDERSON.
The Two and a Half Men star hit headlines in October (10) when cops were called to his suite at Manhattan’s plush Plaza Hotel over reports he had trashed his room during a night of passion with Anderson.
She claimed she was forced to lock herself in the bathroom after the actor accused her of taking his watch and began hurling insults at her and throwing items around the suite. The 22 year old subsequently filed a second-degree harassment charge against Sheen.
Richards had visited her ex-husband on the day of the alleged incident and is said to have been staying across the hall from Sheen’s hotel room when the fallout occurred.
Sources tell TMZ.com the former Bond girl went into Sheen’s room after the altercation to see if there was anything that could be gathered as evidence in a police investigation.
Richards’ representatives were contacted by investigators on Tuesday (23Nov10) and the actress has agreed to "fully co-operate" with the case.
Detectives have also contacted Sheen’s manager, Mark Burg, to ask for an interview in connection with Anderson’s criminal complaint, according to the website.
Initial reports suggested Anderson would file a complaint against Sheen for battery and false imprisonment, but the New York Post states the brunette made no claim that the TV star had injured her.
Sheen’s lawyers have strongly denied the accusations and filed their own lawsuit in Los Angeles on Monday (22Nov10), accusing Anderson of extortion.
His lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, as well as "compensatory damages" of at least $165,000 (£110,000) for the watch he claims Anderson took during their encounter.

And he credits his three children with keeping him focused on the road to sobriety.
He tells Fasterlouder.com.au, "If I could do drugs every once in a little while, I’d do the f**k out of them.
"(But) I know if I did (take drugs), I would be dead and I want to be with my children. It’s a deterrent." Davis has one son with his first wife Renee Perez, and two young boys with his second spouse, former porn star Deven.

WYCLEF ACCUSED OF COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:22 pm

Hip-hop star WYCLEF JEAN is facing legal action from the members of 1990s rap group BLAHZAY BLAHZAY over a royalties dispute stemming from his 2007 album CARNIVAL.
The former Fugees frontman used a sample of the duo’s 1996 song Danger on his track Welcome to the East, without receiving the authorisation to do so.
Jean reached out to the band during the making of his tune seeking permission to use Danger, and Blahzay Blahzay agreed to approve the request on the condition they featured on his album and were credited for helping to write Welcome to the East.
But the duo claims Jean rejected the offer and pressed ahead with the sample anyway. He sent a royalties cheque to Blahzay Blahzay but they insist the amount was less than adequate and they "promptly rejected and returned" the payment, reports TMZ.com.
The pair originally filed suit against Jean in 2009, but were persuaded to call off the legal action after entering settlement talks with the rapper’s representatives.
However, the negotiations fell through and Blahzay Blahzay have now refiled their papers in a New York court, demanding $2 million (£1.3 million) in compensation.

He appeared in a Phoenix courtroom on Wednesday morning (24Nov10) and denied the claims, while his lawyer asked for bail.

MUNSTERS STAR PATRICK SUFFERS NEAR-FATAL OVERDOSE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:18 pm

Former child star BUTCH PATRICK is "lucky to be alive" after almost overdosing on drugs days after walking out of a rehabilitation centre in New Jersey earlier this month (Nov10).
The 57 year old, who played Eddie Munster on The Munsters, has long battled problems with cocaine, marijuana and alcohol, but he recently hit rock bottom after learning the velvet jacket he wore on the hit 1960s TV series had been stolen and put on sale online.
He voluntarily checked into a treatment centre in New Jersey to conquer his demons, but quit the programme shortly afterwards and embarked on a near-fatal drink and drugs binge last week (18Nov10).
His representative Jodi Ritzen tells Eonline.com, "(Patrick) not only continued with drugs and alcohol but started to black out and make rash decisions while under the influence, causing him to nearly overdose last Thursday evening." Patrick’s family and friends staged an intervention after the actor flew to Los Angeles, and they convinced him to enrol in a new substance abuse course to deal with his issues.
The troubled star agreed, and he will now stay at the Oasis centre in Orange County, California for "a minimum of 30 days with seven days in detox", according to Ritzen.
She adds, "With the amount of alcohol and drugs that Patrick was consuming, especially having only one kidney, he is lucky to be alive."

RADCLIFFE SPOOFS POTTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

DANIEL RADCLIFFE has spoofed HARRY POTTER in a new online video by declaring he really is the boy wizard.
The British star has been playing J.K. Rowling’s title character for the last decade, and he mocked his long involvement in the movie franchise by recording an internet video for Will Ferrell’s Funny Or Die website.
In the clip, Radcliffe admits the lines between fiction and reality have become blurred and he now really thinks he is the magical Potter.
He says, "It was probably around the time of the fourth film that I kind of started to realise that I was Harry. I thought I was an actor playing a wizard, but really I was a wizard playing an actor… Dan is a fantastic character… and I really enjoyed playing him." Radcliffe also jokes about using his ‘real’ identity as Potter to seduce girls, adding, "I talk to women and tell them that I’m Harry and see where that gets me."

British actor SIMON PEGG was stunned when TOM CRUISE performed a death-defying stunt for the new MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movie, insisting the Hollywood legend loved the danger and has "no fear".
Cruise impressed his critics when he was pictured earlier this month (Nov10) dangling from the top of the world’s tallest building during a daring sequence for the fourth installment of the action franchise.
Pegg, who has a role in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, was onset for the shoot at the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai - and he was full of admiration for Cruise’s bravery.
The Top Gun star dangled in a harness more than 2,717 feet (828 metres) in the air, and ran around the outside circumference of the building for a chase scene.
Pegg tells U.K. TV show Loose Women, "I was there watching him doing it, which was terrifying, because it was like being in a plane. (It was at the) top of the building. It’s extraordinary, and he has no fear. He just looked out and looked back in with a big smile on his face, like, ‘Here we go!’. And he was running round the side."

PALTROW’S WEIGHT-GAIN ‘NIGHTMARE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:37 pm

GWYNETH PALTROW struggled to give up her strict diet and exercise regime to gain weight for new movie COUNTRY STRONG, admitting she "panicked" and even lied to producers when she continued to exercise.
The normally-svelte Hollywood actress piled on the pounds to play a washed-up, alcoholic country singer in the film.
Paltrow was ordered to eat fattening foods and stop working-out, but the Iron Man star hated the idea of getting fat and hit the gym in secret.
She tells TV host Chelsea Handler, "The nightmare thing about it is I had to stop working out. At first I panicked so I would work out a little bit and then I had to lie and be like, ‘No I didn’t work out’. I’d be on the treadmill and be like, ‘I really have to stop this’." And Paltrow is still struggling to get back into her regular routine, months after filming wrapped.
She adds, "My body didn’t really fall apart until right after we finished the movie and now I’m having problems."

ANDERSON’S AIRPORT ADVERT GROUNDED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:37 pm

A racy animal rights advert featuring PAMELA ANDERSON has been banned from an airport in Boston, Massachusetts after officials deemed the promo too risque.
Anderson is seen posing as a scantily-clad member of airport security staff in the clip for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which was to be shown on Logan International Airport’s Wi-Fi internet network.
She is seen stripping passengers, including Jackass star Steve-O and comic Andy Dick, of their leather, fur and other animal products as they pass through security checks.
But officials at the airport have banned the clip, claiming it is unsuitable to be seen by passengers, according to the Boston Herald.
A PETA spokesperson says, "Given the groping that you see at security checkpoints - and the nudity that you see in body scans - we’re surprised that our lighthearted ad was deemed too risque." Last year (09), the same advert was banned from all three New York City airports by officials amid fears it would offend passengers with young children.
