Pop superstar SHAKIRA will be helping fans to raise a toast over the holidays after filming a TV advertisement for a Spanish sparkling wine company in exchange for a big donation to her charity.
The Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker shot the Freixenet cava promo in Barcelona last weekend (20Nov10) and she admits she only agreed to the job after drinks bosses pledged to donate 500,000 Euros ($660,000/£440,000) to her Pies Descalzos organisation.
The money will be used to build one school in Haiti and another in her native Colombia, where charity heads have already established six schools.
She says, "Education is a birthright and a quality education is the only tool that a child has to turn dreams into reality.
"Since I was a girl I have been aware of the tough reality faced by many children."

JOHN TRAVOLTA’s high-powered attorney MARTY SINGER has fired off a five-page letter to website bosses at Gawker.com, demanding they pull a "false and outrageous" post about his client’s alleged secret sex life.
The missive was sent hours before Travolta became a dad again when his wife Kelly Preston gave birth to baby Benjamin on Tuesday (23Nov10).
Gawker.com has published claims made by Robert Randolph, suggesting Travolta has a salacious secret sex life in Los Angeles spas, and he’s set to reveal all in a self-published book.
According to Gossipcop.com, which has posted the letter from Singer online, Randolph claims he has witnessed Travolta in steam rooms engaging in sexual acts with men.
The lawyer calls the claims "blatant defamatory lies" from a "patently unreliable source", pointing out the author previously suffered permanent brain damage, which he has acknowledged on his own website.
Singer also notes the claims "go back fifteen years, yet inexplicably, he (Randolph) has waited until now to peddle these phony tall tales." Travolta’s lawyer is demanding the immediate and permanent removal of the Randolph post and "the publication of an unequivocal and prominent retraction of the false and defamatory statements."

NEIL DIAMOND is working on an uplifting new anthem for America to help those struggling with the fall-out from the recession.
The crooner is responsible for some of America’s most inspiring songs, like Sweet Caroline and America, which have been adopted as unofficial anthems - and he feels it’s time to come up with another.
He tells Parade magazine, "We’re so inundated with bad news, and I would like to write a song that’s an optimistic, uplifting view of what America can and will be. That would be a challenge. I don’t even know if I could do it."

HAPPY MONDAYS star BEZ has been fined $210 (£140) after pleading guilty to breaching a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend.
The dancer/percussionist was arrested on Tuesday (23Nov10) for failing to answer bail following allegations he harassed former partner Monica Ward.
Bez, real name Mark Berry, was jailed for a month and banned from contacting Ward for two years after he refused to carry out his community service sentence when he was found guilty of attacking her during a domestic dispute in August (10).
Police officers launched a search for the star earlier this week (beg22Nov10) after he missed his last scheduled bail appointment on 17 November (10) and they were unable to contact him.
British Transport Police officers found him trespassing at Euston train station in London on Tuesday (23Nov10) and took him into custody.
After appearing at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (24Nov10), Bez was fined $210 (£140) after admitting to sending Ward numerous text messages, which broke the terms of the order. He was also ordered to pay $128 (£85) in costs.

BEYONCE’s mum has fuelled ongoing reports suggesting the R&B superstar is expecting her first child by cooing about the singer’s mothering skills.
Designer Tina Knowles denied reports Beyonce is with child a month ago (Oct10), but she seems sure she’ll be a grandmother again soon - and insists her eldest daughter and husband Jay-Z will make great parents.
Knowles tells People.com, "They have what it takes to be great parents. They’re good people and they’re really positive and they’re talented and they’ve had a lot of practice with my grandson - their nephew. So I know they’re going to make great parents.

Former child star MELISSA GILBERT is adjusting to having a little extra height after undergoing surgery on her spine - the operation made her half an inch (2.54 centimetres) taller.
The Little House on the Prairie actress went under the knife over the summer (10) to replace a disc and fuse a vertebra in her lower spine after performing in a touring musical of the popular drama series with a broken back.
She has now returned to full health and is getting used to standing that tiny bit taller.
Gilbert tells U.S. TV’s The Talk, "I had surgery three months ago. (Now my back’s) perfect.
"The crazy thing is I’m almost five foot five, and I was only five foot four and a half, so they actually gave me height. It’s really weird."

Reality TV star HEIDI MONTAG is blaming a dead doctor for her plastic surgery addiction, insisting he should have warned her about the dangers of cosmetic enhancements.
The Hills star famously went under the knife to have 10 surgeries in one day, including a chin reduction, a boob job and a rhinoplasty - all at the hands of tragic surgeon Frank Ryan, who died in a car crash earlier this year (10).
But now, in a candid and emotional TV special, Montag insists she wasn’t properly prepared for the procedures.
In the Primetime news special, she says, "Maybe I should have known, but how can you know when your doctor’s saying, ‘It’s just a little of this, it’s just a little of that?’ "I definitely think I should have been way more informed… I think that doctors should really walk you through all aspects of it, not just the glamorous side of it.
"It’s like they’re selling you cookies or something." Montag recently revealed she regretted the massive makeover and is already considering reducing her enhanced boobs.

Sports bad boy and recovering alcoholic DENNIS RODMAN has apologised to family, friends and fans after phoning in to a radio station while intoxicated and chatting to the host while apparently having sex.
The basketball hero-turned-reality TV star called up Miami, Florida DJ Jorge Sedano live on air on Tuesday morning (23Nov10) to chat about local team the Miami Heat.
But Sedano and listeners got more than they’d bargained for when the woman Rodman was with started audibly moaning and giggling in the background.
Rodman’s representative tells TMZ.com, "Dennis was clearly intoxicated and doesn’t remember much (of what happened). Dennis wants to apologise to his family, friends, and fans."

Winfrey quizzed the star about why he sent her a bouquet of flowers recently for no apparent reason when Brooks appeared on her show on Wednesday (24Nov10) - and he revealed he owes the talk show queen a huge debt of gratitude.
He said, "One of my best buddies, Kent Blazy, is a songwriter; he wrote a song called If Tomorrow Never Comes… His wife worshipped you… She dealt with brain tumours most of the adult life that I knew Kent, and you were very sweet to let her come and be here at this show.

JENNIFER LOPEZ has parted ways with her longtime publicists after an alleged dispute over her manager BENNY MEDINA.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the singer/actress is no longer represented by top publicist Leslie Sloan and her BWR colleague Nanci Ryder, who have provided the star with good PR since 2004.
The trade magazine reports the split came about because of a falling out between the BWR heavyweights and Lopez’s management team.
Ryder refuses to go into details about the split, but tells the publication the news is true, stating, "I think Jennifer is fantastic and I’m very sad that we’re not going to be representing her anymore." Medina adds, "Artists and PR companies parting ways happens all the time. This is as much news as me re-doing my furniture."

ROD STEWART is searching for the U.S. World War Two veteran who inspired his latest standards album, so he can fly him and his sister to England as a thank you.
Stewart is planning to break the myth he’s famously tight with his money by treating the old-timer he met while shopping in Sherman Oaks to an all-expenses-paid trip to the U.K.
The rocker reveals the unnamed fan told him how much he loved his classic covers albums, all released under the banner The Great American Songbook.
Stewart wasn’t planning to record a fifth album at the time but the veteran’s high praise made him realise there was a generation of fans who loved hearing the standards again.
He tells news show Access Hollywood, "He said, ‘Are you gonna record one of those American Songbooks again…? ‘Cos you make those old songs sound brand new, boy.’" Stewart is now appealing for the man to come forward, so he can reward him for being his muse: "He was the sweetest man… and he said he’d never been back to England since the war and if I do find you, if you’re watching this show, I’ll pay for a ticket for you and your sister… to go back and visit England."

ANGELINA JOLIE has been handed a major unofficial honour in her adopted son MADDOX’s native Cambodia - a world-famous Hindu temple has been named after her.
Rajan Zed, the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, tells WENN the movie star is so beloved in Cambodia one religious site in Angkor has been renamed the Angelina Jolie Temple.
He says, "It’s a 12th century site called Ta Prohm; it is otherwise known as Old Brahma and was initially named Rajavihara or the royal monastery. Now it’s popularly called the Angelina Jolie Temple.
"It was said to be the setting for various scenes in the first Tomb Raider film… Local restaurants sell Tomb Raider cocktails and she appears to be the patron saint of Cambodia." Zed insists the unofficial renaming comes with a great responsibility - and he’d like the actress to consider helping to maintain the ancient site.
He adds, "I’d urge Angelina Jolie to raise awareness about better preservation of this world heritage as more needs to be done to safeguard the temple complex and its surroundings, save it from vandalism and looting."

Socialite PARIS HILTON has filed a countersuit against the bosses of a hair extension company in an ongoing breach of contract dispute.
The hotel heiress was paid $3.5 million (£2.3 million) in 2007 to endorse Hairtech’s Dream Catchers range, but Hairtech International executives slapped her with legal papers in August (10), accusing Hilton of reneging on her contract by allegedly wearing competitors’ pieces.
Hilton’s attorneys vowed to fight the $35 million (£23.3 million) suit, insisting it lacked merit, and last Friday (19Nov10) they followed through on the promise by challenging the charges in Los Angeles Superior Court.
In the countersuit, obtained by TMZ.com, Hilton claims she was "professional and honourable" in her promotion of the Hairtech product, and she was even praised by the company’s boss in an email after a promo shoot.
She is demanding $3 million (£2 million) in compensation, in addition to punitive damages.

SUSAN BOYLE remains the queen of the U.S. album charts - her new album THE GIFT has scored a second week at number one.
The singing Scot also lands a rare second-week sales increase from her number one debut a week ago (17Nov10).
The album rocketed to the top with 318,000 sales last week, but it has since shifted 335,000 copies.

Former female boxing champ CHRISTY MARTIN has been hospitalised in Florida after she was reportedly shot and stabbed by her husband.
The sportswoman stumbled out onto the street, where she managed to flag down a passing motorist who took her to an Orange County medical centre to seek treatment.
She spoke to police and identified trainer James Martin as the attacker and cops are now on the hunt for the 66 year old.
Martin, who held the World Boxing Council Women’s Jr. Welterweight world championship title in the early 1990s, is widely regarded as one of the most successful and prominent female boxers of all time.
Her one-time promoter Don King has sent his best wishes to the 42 year old as she recovers from her injuries.
He tells TMZ.com, "I am shocked and saddened to see this happen to Christie. I send my prayers and well wishes."
