FRIEL VISITS CAPE TOWN HOUSING SCHEME
Actress ANNA FRIEL took time out from filming new TV movie TREASURE GUARDS in South Africa to visit one of the country’s poorest townships, which has been revolutionised by a new charity scheme.
The Pushing Daisies star took her young daughter Gracie, five, with her as she headed to Wallacedene, Cape Town to see residents move into new homes as part of a housing initiative by the Niall Mellon Township Trust.
Many locals have been able to leave behind run-down sheds to live in two-bedroomed properties - and Friel admits the experience inspired her to do more to help the community.
She tells Britain’s Hello! magazine, "It really makes me want to volunteer."
