MOORE EMAILED BENING FOR KIDS ROLE
JULIANNE MOORE was so determined to cast ANNETTE BENING as her onscreen lover in THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, she emailed the actress directly to personally offer her the role.
The actresses come together in the film about a lesbian couple and their kids’ search for their sperm donor dad.
Director Lisa Cholodenko suggested Bening as a co-star for Moore, and the redhead loved the idea of working with the American Beauty icon.
And Moore was so anxious to sign Bening up, she took the unusual step of bypassing her agent and contacting the star herself.
She tells TheWrap.com, "She (Cholodenko) very generously said, ‘Let’s talk about who should play opposite you.’ And she said, ‘What do you think of Annette Bening?’ "I said, ‘I think that’s a great idea. I don’t know her, but let me email her.’ Because it’s so much faster. As great as our agents are, if you wait for an offer for an independent film to go through, it takes a long time to go through the channels. But if you get an email from an actor that you know even casually, I’ll read something right away.
"I wrote her a nice email saying how much Lisa and I wanted her to do it, and she responded right away and then she was in."
