BEZ FINED FOR BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER
HAPPY MONDAYS star BEZ has been fined $210 (£140) after pleading guilty to breaching a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend.
The dancer/percussionist was arrested on Tuesday (23Nov10) for failing to answer bail following allegations he harassed former partner Monica Ward.
Bez, real name Mark Berry, was jailed for a month and banned from contacting Ward for two years after he refused to carry out his community service sentence when he was found guilty of attacking her during a domestic dispute in August (10).
Police officers launched a search for the star earlier this week (beg22Nov10) after he missed his last scheduled bail appointment on 17 November (10) and they were unable to contact him.
British Transport Police officers found him trespassing at Euston train station in London on Tuesday (23Nov10) and took him into custody.
After appearing at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (24Nov10), Bez was fined $210 (£140) after admitting to sending Ward numerous text messages, which broke the terms of the order. He was also ordered to pay $128 (£85) in costs.
