ACTOR BREA NAMED ‘PERSON OF INTEREST’ IN MOTHER’S STABBING DEATH
Police have confirmed actor MICHAEL L. BREA is a person of interest in the murder of his mother, who was stabbed to death on Tuesday (23Nov10) with a Samurai sword.
Brea’s New York City neighbours called police to the star’s Brooklyn apartment after hearing screams in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Detective Martin Speechley tells TVGuide.com 55 year old Yannick Brea was found with multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at 2:20am. Reports suggest she was decapitated.
Brea was reportedly found clutching a Bible and had to be subdued with a taser. He was taken to a nearby hospital for a psychiatric evaluation with a police escort.
A neighbour tells local TV station WPIX 11 News, "I hear the brother chasing her (his mother) through the house and he’s just saying a bunch of (Bible) passages like, ‘Repent, Repent, Repent.’" "I heard him chasing her through the house and I hear a loud scream and so I have my father call the cops, call 911." Brea, who has appeared on an episode of U.S. TV series Ugly Betty and in dance film Step-Up 3D, had not been formally arrested or charged as WENN went to press.
