Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

TAYLOR SWIFT has fuelled speculation she is dating Hollywood actor JAKE GYLLENHAAL after talk show host ELLEN DEGENERES grilled the young star about her "handsome" new "boyfriend".
The country singer sparked rumours of a new romance when she was spotted holding hands with Gyllenhaal during a stroll through Brooklyn, New York on Sunday (24Oct10).
Swift recorded an appearance on DeGeneres’ U.S. TV show this week (beg25Oct10) and the presenter took the opportunity to ask the 20 year old about her relationship with the actor.
DeGeneres asked Swift if she is feeling optimistic about love, and she replied, "Well, why wouldn’t anyone be?" and the host countered, "Especially if your boyfriend is Jake Gyllenhaal, because he is very handsome. Y’all are just hanging out though right?" Swift refused to deny a romance with Gyllenhaal, simply asking, "You have a picture of us on the screen, don’t you?" The singer has previously been linked to stars including Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner.

MADNESS COMEBACK MARRED BY $900,000 ROBBERY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

MADNESS’ legendary comeback show in London was almost axed hours before the band was due onstage - after a robber stole the group’s $900,000 (£600,000) advance.
The British band reformed six years after splitting up in 1986, and they celebrated the reunion with two huge concerts - dubbed ‘Madstock’ - at London’s Finsbury Park in August 1992.
But a new tell-all book on the ska-pop group reveals the hotly-anticipated weekend shows - attended by more than 75,000 fans - were in danger of being cancelled when organisers were faced with telling the band their payment had gone missing.
Steve Finan, manager of Madness at the time, was shocked when promoter Vince Power informed him hours before showtime that a robbery had taken place.
Finan tells author John Reed in House of Fun: The Story of Madness, "What happened was the big drama. Vince comes up to me and says, ‘We’ve got a problem with the bank drafts for the advance,’ which they’d gotten from the bank on the Friday. Someone had followed Maureen, his accountant, home… and robbed her.
"Let’s say the advance was maybe £600,000. A lot of money. Vince is like, ‘I haven’t got any money to pay you but it’ll be OK, I’ll give it to you on Monday.’ This was my worst fears come true…
"I knew that if the band realised there was no money there, they wouldn’t go on. This is midday on Saturday… So I said to Vince, ‘I know it’s a problem but if I don’t have the £300,000, half of the advance, before they go on, I know they won’t perform." With the outdoor concerts under threat, Power rallied round and managed to raise the cash from his personal funds and business contacts, handing the money over just an hour before Madness was due to take the stage.
Finan adds, "Giving Vince his due, he got the £300,000 together by a quarter to eight… We get to the Securicor van, the guy lifts the hatch up, I throw the money in, kiss everybody, sign the bit of paper, then off we go! Now we’re going to do the gig!"

THE GOONIES HEADING TO THE STAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

THE GOONIES director RICHARD DONNER has confirmed he’s in talks to bring the popular 1985 film to Broadway in a new musical.
The movie, starring Sean Astin, Josh Brolin and Corey Feldman, tells the story of a group of children who go in search of a pirate’s treasure and the story has now been re-written as a song-and-dance stage show.
Donner admits transforming the film into a musical has been a long, arduous process, but he’s convinced the show will be a hit.
He tells Empire, "It’s been taking forever, but that long process just got a lot shorter. There’s a great writer/producer called Tim Long who does musicals on The Simpsons which are classic. He just delivered a treatment of The Goonies as a musical, and it’s friggin’ great!"

DION NAMES TWINS AFTER MANDELA AND MARNAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

CELINE DION has named her newborn twin boys after former South African president NELSON MANDELA and her late songwriting partner EDDY MARNAY.
The 42-year-old singer gave birth to the tots in Florida on Saturday (23Oct10), marking the end of a long struggle with in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments as she strived to expand her family with husband Rene Angelil.
The baby boys were discharged from hospital on Thursday (28Oct10) and Dion has now revealed the names of her newborns.
One baby has been named Nelson, after Mandela, and the other Eddy, in memory of the Algerian songwriter who died in 2003.
A representative for the couple tells People.com, "(Marnay) was like a father to her. Eddy is a major influence in both Celine and Rene’s lives." The couple chose the name Nelson after an influential meeting with the former leader in South Africa two years ago.
The rep adds, "Rene said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is. Celine and Rene want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men." The couple is also parents to a nine-year-old son, Rene-Charles.

PROTESTERS INVADE RED CARPET AT ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

The red carpet premiere of KEIRA KNIGHTLEY and EVA MENDES’ new movie LAST NIGHT was called off at the Rome Film Festival in Italy after hundreds of workers gathered to protest against cuts to the film and TV industry.
The actresses were forced to use a side entrance for the opening celebrations after approximately 2,000 demonstrators invaded the event on Thursday (28Oct10).
Screenwriters, actors and directors carried banners and marched together against the government’s decision to cut its art budget.
The Last Night screening began almost two hours late but director Massy Tadjedin backed the Italians, insisting, "We are pleased to renounce the red carpet and support you." Rain Man actress Valeria Golino, one of the Italian stars who joined the cause, claims workers had no choice but to protest.
She says, "The government disrespects our industry, which means culture, entertainment. They disrespect the people who work in the industry - it would be enough to protest about that. They call us names, that would be enough to protest. But that’s not (the) only (thing) - they’ve cut our funds for (the) film industry. They’ve cut tax shelter, tax credit, which was our only hope for independent movies to be made. It’s a farce."

LABRIE’S TOUR CANCELLED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

Canadian rocker JAMES LABRIE has cancelled his upcoming solo tour of America due to "unforeseen difficulties" over visa issues.
The Dream Theater frontman was scheduled to kick off the trek on 26 November (10) in Charlotte, North Carolina, before wrapping up in December (10) in Texas.
But LaBrie has now been forced to scrap the Static Impulse shows because of immigration issues - and he has been left in "shock" at having to pull the tour.
In a statement he says, "The Static Impulse tour has been cancelled due to some unfortunate, unforeseen difficulties with securing work visas for a couple of the guys. It would be virtually impossible for us to have these visas processed on time to begin the tour let alone the rehearsals which were scheduled for the week prior to the first show.
"I don’t know what to say other than we are all in shock and can only hope we can make this a reality at some point in the near future.
"I am really sorry… This totally sucks and I’m sure you’re all quite upset and have every right to be. I can only ask for your understanding and forgiveness and assure you that when we are in a position (hopefully in the near future) to tour, all of this will have been taken care of well in advance or it just won’t happen."
