JOE JACKSON SEEKING UP TO $500 MILLION FOR WRONGFUL DEATH SUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:20 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON’s father is demanding upto $500 million (£333.3 million) in compensation in his wrongful death lawsuit against the King of Pop’s personal physician DR. CONRAD MURRAY.
Joe Jackson launched legal action against Murray in August (10), accusing him of administering the fatal dose of anaesthetic Propofol, which led to the singer’s death in June 2009.
The family patriarch alleges he was being supported by the Thriller hitmaker at the time of his passing - a claim which gives him the necessary legal standing to pursue a wrongful death suit.
And, in new documents obtained by TMZ.com, Jackson is said to be seeking damages in the region of $10 million (£6.7 million) and $500 million (£333.3 million) - an amount he claims is in "the realistic range of provable damages".
Jackson attributes 20 per cent of the compensation for loss of support, 40 per cent for emotional distress, and 40 per cent for "loss of comfort, aid, society and companionship".
However, he may struggle to win the cash from Murray - the medic insists he is penniless and can’t afford to settle the case because insurance company bosses refuse to cover him.
Murray has pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter stemming from Jackson’s death and is awaiting a preliminary hearing in January (11) to determine if he will face trial.

JOLIE CONNED IN RENT SCAM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:16 pm

ANGELINA JOLIE has found herself at the centre of a rent scam controversy in Hungary after a security guard allegedly conned the star out of $2,750 (£1,830) to let her film in a building he didn’t own.
The Hollywood actress is currently shooting an as-yet-untitled Bosnian war drama in the country and had reportedly scouted out a warehouse in Budapest to use in the production.
She negotiated a fee with the onsite guard, who had posed as the property owner, and handed over the sum - only to discover the lease was illegal.
One of the warehouse owners tells AFP, "My partner called to ask if I knew about a film shoot in our building. And he said, ‘You’ll never guess (which star is involved) - it’s Angelina Jolie!’ "(The guard) thought we wouldn’t find out about it, because we hardly ever go to the building." It’s the second scandal to hit Jolie’s project - she recently won back permission to film in Bosnia following confusion about the movie’s plot.
The film will tell the story of a Serbian man and Bosnian woman who fall in love during the middle of the Bosnian war.

LIL WAYNE CELEBRATING AS NEW ALBUM CLIMBS BACK TO NUMBER ONE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:13 pm

Rapper LIL WAYNE has taken over at the top of the U.S. album charts two weeks after he debuted new album I AM NOT A HUMAN BEING at number two on the countdown.
The album jumps up 15 spots to claim the Billboard 200’s number one spot, and becomes the first release in a year to climb to the top of the charts, as opposed to debuting there.
Its 16-1 jump on the chart is also the largest leap to the top since a retail error sent Radiohead’s In Rainbows rocketing up from 156 to number one in 2008.
The chart success gives the incarcerated rapper something to celebrate as he serves out the final weeks of his sentence at New York’s Rikers Island prison.
Meanwhile, former Hootie & the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker debuts Charleston, SC 1966 at number two and kids TV band Big Time Rush enter the chart at three with B.T.R.
The Band Perry’s self-titled debut is a new entry at four and Eminem’s Recovery rounds out the new top five.
Last week’s number one album, Bullets in the Gun by Toby Keith, drops to nine.

MICHAEL LOHAN: ‘NO MORE PRESS CO-OPERATION’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:35 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN’s estranged father MICHAEL has vowed to turn his back on the press and fight all his future family battles in private.
Born-again Christian Michael Lohan has frequently used the media to voice his opinions about his troubled daughter and his legal disputes with his ex-wife Dina in recent years, often staging press conferences and photo opportunities after court appearances.
But the Lohan patriarch has now had a change of heart and has released his last statement to the press, expressing his desire to live in "peace" for the sake of his loved ones.
In the press release, he says, "I want to make a public statement that I will not be commenting on ANYTHING relating to my daughter Lindsay, or ANYTHING my ex-wife Dina, or any ’sources’ related to her, might say.
"NO MATTER what accusations, lies or conjecture are disseminated to the public about me, for the sake of the ones I love and with hope of creating peace, I WILL NOT respond, in ANY way, to what is said or done, to me.
"For the sake of those I offended, I apologise and ask their forgiveness… So please refrain from calling or contacting me." Michael’s last post-court press conference took place moments after the Mean Girls actress was sentenced to 30-days behind bars without bail in September (10) for violating her probation and failing two mandatory drug tests. She subsequently walked free after posting $300,000 (£200,000) bail and is now seeking treatment in a drug rehab clinic.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:35 pm

KATE HUDSON’s representative has laughed off reports the actress is growing "bored" with her romance with rocker MATT BELLAMY, dismissing the tabloid rumours as "ridiculous".
The Fool’s Gold star has been dating Muse frontman Bellamy since April (10), when they met at California’s Coachella Music Festival, and they went public with their romance in July (10).
But gossips have claimed the relationship is waning because the singer is not a people person.

GARRETT BLAMES EARLY FAME FOR ADDICTION ISSUES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:32 pm

Fallen pop star LEIF GARRETT blames his early fame on his decades-long battle with drug and alcohol addiction - because he had easy access to illegal substances as a teen celebrity.
The 48 year old began his career at the age of five and eventually became a teen addict - at 17, he crashed his car while high on alcohol and Quaalude, leaving a friend paralysed.
But the singer is adamant he could have avoided the pitfalls of fame if he had been properly supervised as a young star on the road.
He tells U.S. breakfast programme Good Morning America, "My mum didn’t understand, you know. It was partially her fault. You don’t allow a 14 or 15-year-old kid to go on the road without parental guidance. The bartenders knew who I was, knew how old I was, but no one said no.
"I think part of my drug use was that I didn’t want to get older. I wanted to stay that rebellious 18 year old, just thinking I was superman or, you know, indestructible. But things catch up to you. Fame is a drug not only to oneself but to others as well." Garrett admits he still suffers "hardcore nightmares and sleep issues" because of the teenage accident, which he claims led to his addiction to heroin. He has since been charged twice for possession of the drug, with his last arrest taking place earlier this year (10).
Garrett, who recently sought drug help on Dr. Drew Pinsky’s U.S. reality series Celebrity Rehab, will begin a court-ordered treatment programme next week (begs27Oct10), but the singer doubts the stint will help him kick his vices once and for all.
He says, "Since I have been out of rehab, I have had a cocktail. But I don’t go out and get drunk out of my mind. And I haven’t gone to use drugs so… some people say it is (a slippery slope). Some people say it’s not. I am going to live my life as me."

LEONE WAS DRENCHED IN BLOOD AFTER ATTACK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:31 pm

MADINA LAKE star MATTHEW LEONE has revealed the full horror of the vicious assault that left him close to death - insisting he looked like a character from the climax of bloodbath movie CARRIE.
The rocker underwent life-saving surgery after suffering a fractured skull and a brain haemorrhage when he was beaten unconscious as he attempted to break up a violent domestic dispute between two strangers.
Bass player Leone has now revealed why he intervened in the bust-up in his native Chicago, Illinois in July (10) - insisting he was following his "instinct" to protect a woman in danger but was "left to die on the street".
He tells Kerrang! magazine, "I heard a bloodcurdling scream. It was like the kind you hear in horror movies, so I ran across the street and down the block, where I saw a man holding a woman on her back against a chain link fence. I acted on instinct, so I charged into him and knocked him off the girl.
"I told them both to chill out and created a bit of distance between them. I called 911 and the next thing I know, he screamed something - I can’t discuss this for legal purposes - and bam! My lights went out. I was beyond cool to both of them, but was left to die on the street.
"I woke up when the detectives picked me off the street and took me to the ambulance. I managed to text (my girlfriend) Autumn and (bandmate and twin brother) Nathan, then said to the (paramedics), ‘I don’t have insurance, are you sure I have to go to the hospital?’. They held a mirror up; I looked like Carrie on prom night." Leone also thanked fans for giving him the strength to pull through his ordeal, adding: "I can’t tell you how much they truly saved my a**… You get to a point where you’re so vulnerable and weak that you almost wanna say ‘F**k it!’ and throw down your hand. But having that support kept me so happy and surrounded by love - there was no way I was going anywhere!" Justin Pivec, 33, has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery causing serious bodily harm in connection with the incident. He is due in court later this year (10).
