LADY GAGA has been forced to scrap her upcoming gigs in Paris at the weekend (22-24Oct10) due to strikes which have crippled the French capital.
Over one million citizens have taken to the streets in protest of President Nicolas Sarkozy’s plans to raise the nation’s retirement age from 60 to 62, and the demonstrations have led to severe public transport delays and petrol shortages.
The disruption has now caused the Poker Face hitmaker to postpone her Monster Ball shows in France until December (10).
A statement posted on her website reads, "Unfortunately, as there is no certainty that the trucks can make it to the Bercy (area in Paris) for this weekend’s shows, the Lady Gaga performances are now postponed. Lady Gaga apologises to her fans for any inconvenience." The shows have been rescheduled for 19 and 20 December (10).

Movie star JAMES FRANCO will always make sure his family and friends know his whereabouts whenever he goes hiking after living through adventurer ARON RALSTON’s nightmare in Utah’s Moab Desert for his latest film role.
Ralston spent 127 hours with his arm trapped behind a boulder after falling down a canyon crevice in 2003 and had to amputate the limb to escape.
Franco recreates the brave outdoorsman’s story of survival in harrowing new film 127 Hours, and he admits he’s learned a few expert hiking tips in the process.
The actor tells WENN, "If I hike I’ll be sure to tell people where I go. It’s given me an appreciation for my life and people in my life, certainly.
"Aron asked me why I wanted to play this role. I love the way it strips down everything that is familiar in our day to day lives. That we can get food from a restaurant or a store, emotional independence and also the daily activities that keep us from looking at ourselves in a very intimate way; all of that is taken away and it’s a man alone facing death.
"I imagined in a real way to study what it is to be human, what’s important in our lives, and what really gives us strength. I also said to Aron, ‘I liked that you had the will inside you to get out,’ and he said one of the main things that gave him the strength to get out was his connection to the outside world and his friends and family.
"That gave him the strength to survive so it’s given me an appreciation for people in my life."

Publishing mogul BOB GUCCIONE has died at the age of 79.
The New Yorker, who famously first introduced full frontal nudity to the men’s magazines market, passed away in hospital in Texas on Wednesday (20Oct10) following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Guccione made his name after launching the provocative Penthouse magazine in 1969, competing with rival Hugh Hefner by publishing explicit pictures of naked women.
His raunchy release led him to build a billion-dollar publishing empire in the mainstream market.
Guccione’s most famous scoops included printing naked snaps of Madonna in 1985 and then-Miss America, Vanessa Williams.
He lost his publishing business to bankruptcy in 2003.

Union bosses at New Zealand Actors Equity appear to have broken their deadlock with filmmaker PETER JACKSON and the producers of THE HOBBIT, urging foreign guilds to lift their do-not-work order on the LORD OF THE RINGS prequel.
An angry Jackson threatened to re-locate the movie from his native New Zealand if local actors didn’t end their boycott of the film over a contract dispute with studio bosses.
And, after a month-long stand-off, it appears the tense situation is cooling.
Officials at America’s Screen Actors Guild broke the latest news in the ongoing union battle, stating, "Our sister union New Zealand Actors Equity issued a statement recommending all international performers’ unions rescind their member advisories on the feature film production The Hobbit.
"In light of this recommendation, Screen Actors Guild will be alerting its members that they are now free to accept engagements, under Screen Actors Guild contract terms and conditions, on The Hobbit." Jackson and his fellow producers recently announced that the delayed film will start shooting in February (11).

LISA MARIE PRESLEY is haunted by the death of her ex-husband MICHAEL JACKSON - because she believes she could have helped him turn his life around if she had known the King of Pop was so ill.
In her first in-depth interview since Jackson lost his life last summer (Jun09), Presley, who was married to the pop superstar from 1994 to 1996, tells Oprah Winfrey in a TV special to air on Thursday (21Oct10) she feels she could have done more for the Thriller singer in the final months of his life.
She says, "I know that it’s naive to think that I could have (saved him) but I wanted to. Had I made a call, had I stopped being so shut off from him, had I just said, ‘How are you?’ I really regret that I didn’t." But Presley fears that even if she had reached out to help Jackson, he would have refused her aid - and she knew the superstar was charting a course to destruction while she was married to him.
She adds, "I think that was a train headed in a certain direction that I don’t know if anyone could have stopped and I’ve had to really get my head around that in order to stop the pain."

RIHANNA is preparing for best pal KATY PERRY’s weekend (23Oct10) wedding in India in the knowledge she’ll return to the U.S. next week with a new company and management team.
The R&B superstar has parted ways with manager Marc Jordan and has signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Management.
A statement from the singer reads, "I am so excited to take this next step in my career." The move comes three years after Rihanna teamed up with Jay-Z on her biggest record Umbrella and a year after they collaborated on the hit Run This Town. Jay-Z signed the singer to Def Jam in 2005.
The 22-year-old star is also launching a new company called Rihanna Entertainment.

PAMELA ANDERSON has stripped for her 11th Playboy cover - channelling LA DOLCHE VITA siren ANITA EKBERG at the sexy shoot.
The Baywatch bombshell landed her first Playboy cover way back in 1989, and was named Playmate of the year in 1990. And now, 20 years later, Anderson is baring all again for the January 2011 issue, cavorting naked in a pool as an homage to Ekberg’s infamous scene in Rome, Italy’s Trevi Fountain with Marcello Mastroianni in the 1960 movie classic.

Sneering THE FALL rocker MARK E. SMITH literally took aim at folk band MUMFORD & SONS during a recent music festival in Ireland - he launched a bottle at the stage during their set because he didn’t like their music.
The Fall shared the bill with Mumford & Sons at the Electric Prom event, which took place near Dublin, in September (10), and the veteran singer admits he hated what he heard during the English quartet’s rehearsal sessions, and made his disdain clear by throwing a missile at them.
He tells Australia’s Brag magazine, "We were playing a festival in Dublin the other week. There was this other group warming up in the next sort of chalet, and they were terrible.
"I said, ‘Shut them c**ts up’, and they were still warming up, so I threw a bottle at them. The band said, ‘That’s the Sons of Mumford (sic) or something, they’re number five in the charts!’ I just thought they were a load of retarded Irish folk singers."

RONNIE WOOD and the guitarist he replaced in the ROLLING STONES are set to take the stage at London’s 100 Club in December (10) as part of a benefit to save the fabled venue, according to new reports.
Wood and Mick Taylor are secretly planning to team up at the 1 December charity show, which organisers hope will raise vital funds to keep the club open into 2011.
Rent rises in London have crippled the club’s bosses in recent months and owner Jeff Horton has threatened to close the 100 Club at Christmas (10) unless he gets aid to help him with the spiralling costs.
Former The Clash star Mick Jones is also expected to join the benefit line up - he recently offered to help anyone spearheading a campaign to save the venue.
He recently told Spinner.com, "I’m sorry to hear it might be closing. It will be greatly missed if it closes. Someone should start a campaign to save it. If someone’s going to do something and I’m available then I’d love to help."

Grammy Awards bosses have fixed JOHN LEGEND’s broken statuette after the R&B star performed an intimate show for the organisation’s staff.
The six-time Grammy winner was left heartbroken when a visiting nephew accidentally broke one of his prized trophies for the hit album Get Lifted.
Legend posted a photo of the damaged trophy on his Twitter.com page in August (10), lamenting, "Casualty of the nephews staying with me. I hope they send replacement grammys!" It’s not the norm for Grammy bosses to replace broken awards - but they made an exception for Legend.
He explains, "I did a favour for the Grammys; I did a show at their offices - and at the end of the show they surprised me with a replacement Grammy."

Rapper TINIE TEMPAH walked tall at Britain’s prestigious Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards on Wednesday night (20Oct10) after winning two of the night’s biggest honours.
The newcomer made his MOBO debut with four nominations, and was thrilled after scoring the Best Newcomer and Best Video prizes at the event in Liverpool, England.
The night’s other big winner was talent show The X Factor’s success story JLS, who were presented with trophies for Best Album and Best U.K. Act.
Rapper Eminem cemented his comeback by claiming the Best International Act honour and R&B legend Billy Ocean was presented with a Lifetime Achievement award.
U.K. chart favourites Plan B and Professor Green were also winners - actor/singer Plan B claimed the Best R&B/Soul Act accolade and Green was named the Best Hip Hop/Grime Act.
Rap trio N-Dubz and Kanye West’s protege Mr Hudson were awarded the Best Song honour for their track Playing With Fire.
This year’s (10) event, which celebrated British and international music with origins in black culture, was held at Liverpool’s Echo arena - the first time the ceremony has been hosted outside of London.

Survival hero ARON RALSTON has heaped praise on JAMES FRANCO’s new movie, which chronicles his desperate five days trapped by a boulder during a hike through the Moab Desert in Utah, revealing he’s grateful his story has been so well told.
Franco plays Ralston in the film, 127 Hours, and the real adventurer, who was forced to amputate his own arm to escape his crevice hell in 2003, insists no other actor could have given the film such honest intensity.
He tells WENN, "I was crying within moments from when the boulder falls on him and from that point all the way through. At the moment of liberation, where he cuts off his arm, I was sitting there snacking on my popcorn and everyone else was gripped in their seats.
"I was watching it and thinking, ‘Wow, that’s really well done.’ It’s very authentic to what I went through.
"You go through the entrapment and you want him to cut his arm off. This is a euphoric experience, as maniacal as it kind of was; I was smiling as I cut my arm off and I really lobbied for that smile, even just for a glimpse - that this is a happy thing. It’s an experience that the audience is grateful for and that I was grateful for to get out of there." But he’s not sure Franco was 100 per cent perfect as his movie self: "I think James is much more charming in the film than maybe I personally am."

Detectives investigating the death of Hollywood plastic surgeon FRANK RYAN have ruled out reports the skin doctor lost control of his car in Malibu, California in August (10) because he was driving while texting to his Twitter.com account.
The surgeon, who had worked on a series of stars including Heidi Montag, Janice Dickinson and Gene Simmons, died after driving his Jeep over a cliff while travelling back to his office after a hike with his dog.
His ex-girlfriend Charmaine Blake had suggested that Ryan was uploading a photo of his pet onto his Twitter site when he died, but a California Highway Patrol investigation has discovered evidence to the contrary.
A final report into the tragedy states that an "unsafe turning movement" led to Ryan drifting off a rocky embankment.
An official tells TMZ.com, "There was no evidence of any other contributing factors in the cause of this collision."

KELSEY GRAMMER’s estranged wife fought back tears of both joy and betrayal as she watched the premiere episode of her new reality TV show THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS - because it featured scenes of her marriage breakdown.
Camille Grammer was still happily married to the actor when she started shooting the show and was so busy with the new TV project she didn’t realise her union was falling apart.

Filmmaker TYLER PERRY first experienced sex with a woman when a friend’s mother seduced him after a playdate when he was just 10.
The Why Did I Get Married? director opened up about the molestation and abuse he suffered as a child growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana during an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, which aired in America on Wednesday (20Oct10) - and there’s one "disgusting" encounter he’ll never forget.
Perry told Oprah he had been playing with a neighbourhood friend at his house when his pal’s mum took advantage of him.
He recalled, "I hear arguing from the living room, she comes in… We were in the bedroom. She throws him in the bathroom and says, ‘You need to take a bath and go to bed,’ and she tells me to go home, and I go to the door to try and unlock the door… and I couldn’t unlock it.
"She lays on the sofa and spreads her legs - I didn’t know she was wearing lingerie at the time - and I said, ‘I have to go home…’ And she lights a cigarette and she takes the key… and I come over to get it and she puts it inside of herself (vagina) and she tells me to get it, so I get the key but I feel my body betraying me… because I felt an erection.
"She pulled me on top of her and I was inside of her, so my first sexual experience with a woman… that was it." The encounter left him scarred when he started to be intimate with women much later on in life.
He explains, "I was so awkward… I didn’t know there were these triggers… I was with this girl and we were about to get into it (have sex) and she locks the door - click, click, click - I wasn’t able to make the connection, so she’s wondering what is wrong with me; I’m wondering what is wrong with me… I could not perform. I went from being stimulated and ready to go to not being able to perform.
"There is this next situation, where I’m with another woman that I really, really cared about… and she comes in the roiom, one day sex is great, the next day lingerie… it’s, ‘What is this?’ And I never made the connection to this." Perry revealed he was also sexually molested by a male neighbour, a nurse and a priest when he was a child.

MICHAEL DOUGLAS’ publicist has shot down reports the movie star froze his sperm before undergoing treatment for cancer so he and wife CATHERINE ZETA-JONES could become parents again.
The Wall Street legend has recently completed ravaging radiation and chemotherapy treatment for throat cancer and is recovering at home in New York.
According to America’s Star magazine, the actor - who has a young son and daughter with Zeta-Jones - decided to have his sperm frozen in case his fertility was damaged by the radiation sessions.
But the ailing actor’s rep has denied the rumours, telling Gossip.com that the bizarre report is "not true".

KANYE WEST’s rapper pal RHYMEFEST has formally entered the race for political office in his native Chicago, Illinois.
The hip-hop star, real name Che Smith, is bidding to become an alderman for the 20th Ward at the Chicago City Council and he has now officially announced his candidacy.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he wrote, "It’s already starting! I talk about helping my community and the villains are attacking my character and family! I won’t stop! "The 20th Ward in Chicago needs help, shorties (women) are out here selling dope to pay the family bills. Grandmothers are raising their children’s children, people are unemployed and under employed & leadership is absent." Rhymefest, who co-wrote West’s chart hit Jesus Walks, is set to hold a press conference detailing his political run on Thursday (21Oct10).
He will go up against current alderman Willie Cochran, a former police officer with 26 years of service to his name, for the position when the elections take place in February 2011.
Rhymefest isn’t the only rapper to turn to politics this year (10) - Wyclef Jean attempted to run for President of Haiti this summer (10) but was eliminated from the race after failing to satisfy residency rules.
