DYRDEK’S SHOW HIT WITH LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:29 pm

MTV bosses are facing a $25,000 (£16,666) lawsuit from a viewer who claims he was mocked as a "smelly, old man" on reality show ROB DYRDEK’S FANTASY FACTORY.
In an episode of the show which aired in August (10), celebrity skateboarder Dyrdek and a pal were seen trying to locate the source of a nasty odour before pointing at a man in a street.
The man, who has not been identified, has now filed papers alleging he did not give permission for his image to be used, and claiming that after the broadcast "friends and relatives began teasing or mocking (him), buying him air freshener." He also accuses Dyrdek of mocking his "gait", which he insists is caused by a medical condition called "spinal stenosis", according to TMZ.com.
In documents filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court, the man is demanding $25,000 compensation for the embarrassment suffered since the skit aired.

BARR’S EX-HUSBAND SUES OVER CANCELLED HAWAII TRIP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:28 pm

ROSEANNE BARR’s ex-husband is taking her to court over allegations she agreed to fly him out to Hawaii to visit their son and then reneged on the deal.
The actress was married to Ben Thomas from 1995 to 2000 and they are parents to a 15-year-old son, Buck.
Barr relocated to Hawaii with the teenager earlier this year (10) and Thomas claims he only sanctioned the move after the star agreed to fly him out there once a month.
Thomas alleges Barr agreed to pay for his flights and accommodation, but called off the deal shortly before he was due to make his first visit. He claims Barr cancelled his flight and sent him an email which read, "I decided that I’m no longer interested in abiding by this ridiculous arrangement. You want to visit (our son)? Buy yourself a ticket, book a room… See you in court." Thomas has now filed legal documents at Los Angeles County Superior Court asking a judge to force Barr to honour the deal and reimburse him for the trip because his wealth "pales in comparison" to his former partner’s, according to TMZ.com.

STONE’S CONTROVERSIAL ADVERT BANNED IN AUSTRALIA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

Supermodel LARA STONE is at the centre of a storm in Australia after officials banned her latest Calvin Klein advert over allegations the photographs promote "violence and rape".
The Dutch beauty, who is married to British funnyman David Walliams, is pictured in her underwear lying among a group of men, with one male model straddling her suggestively while another pulls her hair.
The promo has drawn a number of complaints since it was plastered over billboards in Australia and now officials at the country’s Advertising Standards Bureau have branded the ads "demeaning to women" and ruled the campaign must be scrapped.
A statement from the organisation reads, "The Board considered that whilst the act depicted could be consensual, the overall impact and most likely takeout is that the scene is suggestive of violence and rape. The Board considered that the image was demeaning to women by suggesting that she is a plaything of these men. It also demeans men by implying sexualised violence against women."

MAN ADMITS THREATENING SOUTH PARK BOSSES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

A man is facing up to 30 years in jail for making threats against SOUTH PARK bosses after they poked fun at Islamic prophet Mohammed in a controversial episode of the show.
Zachary Adam Chessers, 20, pleaded guilty on Wednesday (20Oct10) to urging viewers to attack producers of the show by posting their home addresses online and adding: "Pay them a visit." Chessers, from Virginia, is said to have been infuriated by an episode aired in April (10) in which Mohammed was depicted dressed in a bear suit.
The cartoon was censored before broadcast following threats from a radical Islamic group, but it still caused anger among many devout Muslims.
In a statement issued by the U.S. Justice Department, officials confirmed Chessers pleaded guilty to "taking repeated steps in April 2010 to encourage violent jihadists to attack the writers of South Park for their depiction of Mohammed, including highlighting their residence and urging online readers to ‘pay them a visit’." Chessers also admitted providing material support to a terrorist group and inciting violent attacks in the U.S. - charges stemming from comments made on jihadist websites unrelated to the South Park broadcast.
He is due to be sentenced in February (11).

GRIGORIEVA’S LAWYER WANTS COMPUTER EVIDENCE DISCARDED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:25 pm

A lawyer representing MEL GIBSON’s ex-girlfriend OKSANA GRIGORIEVA has vowed to fight a search warrant which will allow cops to seize the singer’s computer - insisting the device contains files of a personal nature.
The Braveheart star has been locked in a bitter fight with his former partner over custody of their baby daughter Lucia, following their split earlier this year (10).
Cops are also investigating allegations Grigorieva attempted to blackmail the star by asking for money to keep explosive tapes of their bitter arguments private.
The judge presiding over the case has now signed a search warrant which will allow members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department access to Grigorieva’s personal computer.
But an attorney representing the singer is determined to fight the order, because the computer contains personal pictures of Grigorieva breastfeeding her baby daughter, as well as her unheard music recordings.
Grigorieva’s attorney Daniel Horowitz has scheduled a court hearing for Thursday (21Oct10) and will ask Judge Scott Gordon to limit the warrant to include only audio recordings, photos, emails and text messages which are linked to Gibson.
In legal papers, obtained by TMZ.com, Horowitz states, "These are communications between Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva that are rather normal, civilised and reflect discussions between adults who are genuinely attempting to provide for the financial welfare of their child." Grigorieva denies attempting to extort money from Gibson in any way.

NELLY: ‘BROWN LEARNED HIS LESSON AFTER RIHANNA SCANDAL’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:20 am

Rapper NELLY hopes fans can forgive and forget CHRIS BROWN’s attack on ex-girlfriend RIHANNA, because he is adamant the singer has "learned his lesson".
Brown saw his popularity plummet after he viciously beat the Umbrella beauty in 2009. He was later convicted of felony assault and sentenced to five years probation.
But Nelly, who enlisted the Kiss Kiss singer for his new album 5.0, is adamant Brown is a different man from the "kid" he was at the time of the attack.
He tells Britain’s Daily Star, "What people seem to forget is that this was a kid, a kid that made a mistake that, sadly, grown men make every day. If we’re going to give anyone the benefit of the doubt, it should be a kid.
"Chris has been through a lot, he’s learned his lesson now. He’s such a talented kid, such a great singer and I always knew that would prevail."

PERRY THANKS OPRAH FOR HELPING HIM TURN HIS CHILDHOOD HELL INTO STORIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:19 am

Actor/director TYLER PERRY brought talk show host OPRAH WINFREY to tears during an appearance on her programme on Wednesday (20Oct10) when he thanked her for helping turn his life around when he was a confused, abused teenager.
The filmmaker opened up to Oprah about his hellish childhood, during which he was physically abused by his violent father and molested by neighbours.
And, at the end of their taped chat, Perry took a moment to thank Winfrey for giving him the spark to find a way out of the hell of his youth.
The Madea Goes To Jail director/star told the talk show queen, "I wanna say this to you… I’m going through all of this hell, all of this stuff is happening and nobody’s telling me I could fly, nobody’s telling me I’m special, nobody’s telling me what I can do - and here you are on television.
"This is what is so miraculous about this moment - I turn on the TV and I see you and you say, ‘It’s cathartic to start writing’. I didn’t even know what cathartic meant.
"I started writing down all of the things that had happened to me but I was using different characters’ names. It was a chain reaction… A friend of mine finds them (stories) and says, ‘Man, this is a really good play’.
"On behalf of the millions of people who will never get the chance to sit here and say to you how much you have changed their lives… I wanna say thank you on behalf of all of them and myself."

GIBB URGES YOUNG STARS TO CONCENTRATE ON SONGWRITING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:14 am

ROBIN GIBB is urging young British artists to forget about finding fame on TV talent shows and concentrate on their songwriting skills instead - because stellar tracks will help them conquer the lucrative American market.
The Bee Gees star found fame in the U.S. when he and his brothers, Barry and Maurice, wrote classic hits for movies Grease and Saturday Night Fever, with the band going on to sell a staggering 220 million records worldwide.
And Gibb insists wannabe superstars have to hone their craft rather than chasing immediate fame on shows such as Simon Cowell’s The X Factor if they want to become music legends.
He tells Britain’s Daily Express, “(Songs are) not being created by new people. There’s only a handful like ourselves that have got them.
“I just wish new songwriters would be following suit because a lot of new songwriters today think it’s just about The X Factor, showing up and singing, but there’s a lot more to it than that.
“Musicianship and composing are the backbone of the music industry and that’s not about The X Factor; that’s about hard work and knowing your stuff.
“A lot of new young British acts should do what the older generation were doing: get America. You can be big (in Britain) but if you haven’t got America… ourselves, Elton (John), The Beatles, Sting and others all made America but new British acts that are successful today don’t seem to explode beyond the white cliffs of Dover (southern England).”

FOLLOWILL DEFENDS HIS UNDERSTATED STYLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:14 am

KINGS OF LEON frontman CALEB FOLLOWILL makes no excuses for his shy demeanour on-stage - insisting he hates "corny" rock stars who create an outlandish persona for live performances.
The frontman constantly comes under fire for his understated performing style and lack of banter with the crowd.
But the rocker has defended his stage silence - insisting the band’s fans don’t pay to watch him "cracking jokes" at gigs.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "People expect me to go up there and be like a frontman, talk to them about politics and all this. I don’t have anything to say other than ‘Thank you’ and ‘Holy s**t, we can’t believe we are here.’ "We are very thankful on stage. I am not up there cracking jokes. Most I will do is a shot of tequila. I’ll do that six times. Then I’ll read the review and it was good but, ‘He doesn’t talk enough. He’s not a good frontman.’ Really? "I don’t want to go to a concert and watch some dude yapping the whole time. I want to hear the songs that I have paid for." And the singer is adamant fans will never see his outrageous side during gigs, adding, "I hate f**cking rock stars. I think it’s corny. If you are naturally a rock star that’s f**cking awesome. But if you are up there with contrived thinking (sic) ‘I am going to show these people how bada** I am’. No, I would rather do that behind closed doors."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:11 am

Former CREAM star GINGER BAKER is furious after his former assistant who was found guilty of stealing $47,400 (£31,300) from his accounts escaped a jail sentence in South Africa.
The British drummer, 71, accused Lindiwe Noko of defrauding him by using his pin number to make cash withdrawals after learning the code when she showed him how to use ATMs.
She was convicted on 23 counts of fraud at a South African court last month (Sep10).
But Baker is fuming after a judge decided against sending Noko to prison, handing her a correctional supervision sentence instead. This will see her remain at her home under strict conditions.
He says, "(It’s a) travesty of justice. She should have been in prison for what she did to me. I trusted her and took her into my life and she repaid me by stealing from me."

BEYONCE’S MOTHER DISMISSES PREGNANCY RUMOURS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:11 am

BEYONCE’s mother TINA KNOWLES has laughed off reports her superstar daughter is expecting her first child by joking about the pregnancy story on U.S. TV.
The Crazy In Love superstar is at the centre of fervid gossip she and rapper husband Jay-Z are preparing to welcome a baby.
The speculation appeared to be grounded in truth when the couple’s pal, former Def Jam president Kevin Liles, congratulated the stars on the happy news, saying, "Jay has been all about family since I met him, and he’s always going to be. I wish them the best." But during an interview on Wednesday (20Oct10) with Ellen DeGeneres, Beyonce’s mother shrugged off rumours she is expecting another grandchild.
She told the TV host, "I heard that (she’s pregnant), but I’m here to clear the rumours up. The truth is, it’s not Beyonce who’s pregnant - it’s me. I’m actually not, I’m 56! No, no - it’s not true. Not right now. I’m looking forward to it (when it happens). By now, with all the rumours, I should have about five or six grandchildren."
