USHER REFUSED TO MAINTAIN LOVELESS MARRIAGE FOR KIDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

R&B superstar USHER refused to entertain the idea of staying in his troubled marriage with TAMEKA FOSTER for the sake of their two sons, because he didn’t want to give up on finding lasting love.
The OMG hitmaker filed for divorce from stylist Foster in June 2009, insisting the couple, which wed in 2007, had not lived together for over a year, despite welcoming second son Naviyd in December 2008.
But Usher insists the idea of remaining married so they could raise their kids together in a family environment was not an option that appealed to him.
He tells Vibe magazine, "They would only be looking at a product of something that I’m tolerating or she’s tolerating. I don’t wanna be tolerated. I wanna be loved. I don’t want to tolerate someone. I wanna love them. And I can love Tameka for who she is, but I don’t have to necessarily be in a relationship with her." The couple is also parents to two-year-old Usher V.

CHILLI’S MARRIAGE REJECTION DROVE USHER TO CHEAT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

R&B hunk USHER cheated on ex-girlfriend ROZANDA ‘CHILLI’ THOMAS after the TLC star rejected his proposal for marriage.
The Yeah! singer dated Thomas for two years before they split in December 2003, amid rumours he had been unfaithful.
Thomas confirmed the claims during a radio interview two months later, telling an Atlanta, Georgia DJ, "Usher did the ultimate no-no to me… I will never be with him again, and that is that." Usher has since come clean about the allegations and admitted to cheating, but in a new interview with Vibe magazine, he insists he was driven into another woman’s arms after Thomas turned down his offer to become his wife.
He says, "I wasn’t happy. And I left the relationship as a result of it. There’s no honour, I guess, in cheating. But there is honour in honesty, I guess…
"If I know I can’t be faithful or I’m not happy, then we shouldn’t be together. I wanted more. I wanted to be married to that woman. I wanted to marry her. I asked her to marry me! She said no. Who the f**k is gon’…? Come on, man. You gon’ stay faithful… (after she said no)?!" Usher went on to wed stylist Tameka Foster in 2007, but he filed for divorce last year (09).

RUSSELL WAS BACK IN STUDIO DAYS AFTER BRAIN SURGERY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

Rock and blues legend LEON RUSSELL defied medical odds after undergoing brain surgery in January (10) - he was back in the studio days after the five-hour operation to record with SIR ELTON JOHN.
The 68-year-old singer/songwriter bounced back from surgery for a brain fluid leak and made a triumphant return to the stage weeks later at the 2010 Grammy Awards, where he performed with the Zac Brown Band.
But the Rocket Man reveals Russell had been hard at work much sooner than the Grammys, recording tracks for the pair’s new album The Union.
And he’s stunned by how quickly his idol recovered to work on their joint project.
John says, "He was very sick… I don’t know how he did it but he did it. He would come in the studio for two or three hours a day with me, play the piano and sing songs, then go back and rest. He got so strong so quickly.
"I think that’s A, because of the love for his music, and B, because so many people were glad to see him. So many people were genuinely touched."

CAGE URGES ACTION AGAINST ORGANISED CRIME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:11 pm

Actor-turned-activist NICOLAS CAGE has called on the international community to put up a united fight against organised crime and do more to help victims of human trafficking.
Cage, who was named a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Global Justice last year (09), spoke out at a conference aimed to boost support for a U.N. convention to curb organised crime in Vienna, Austria on Thursday (21Oct10).
The Oscar winner appealed to non-governmental organisation executives, judges, prosecutors, doctors and religious leaders to work together to eradicate the "highly contagious" problem.
He continued: "Organised crime is too big for communities or even states to confront on their own. States must work together… No part of the world is immune to trafficking and organised crime." Calling for a change, Cage highlighted the growing crime rates in impoverished, lawless communities in which victims are often forced into prostitution, piracy or the army, while others become addicted to drugs or infected with HIV.
He said, "There are many kinds of victims of organised crime, and… children are among the most vulnerable." The Leaving Las Vegas star also described his position as a goodwill ambassador as his "most challenging and meaningful role", admitting he even considered quitting Hollywood to devote his life to helping others.
But for now, he’s happy to use his celebrity to raise awareness for worthy causes.
He added: "At some point I wanted to stop being an actor and start taking action."

ANISTON ROMANCE RUMOURS WERE ‘HURTFUL’ TO HOPKINS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:11 pm

COUGAR TOWN actor JOSH HOPKINS was hurt and disgusted by the tabloid furore an innocent dinner date with JENNIFER ANISTON caused last month (Sep10), because harsh rumours of a failed romance spread like "wildfire".
The U.S. TV star befriended Aniston over the summer (10) when she filmed a cameo for her best pal Courteney Cox’s show and they reunited for a catch-up over a meal in September (10).
Gossips immediately claimed Hopkins had become Aniston’s latest love interest - only for subsequent reports to allege he had dined and ditched the actress.
But the intense media speculation was too much for Hopkins - and he’s developed a real sympathy for Hollywood’s biggest stars as a result of his own treatment in the tabloids.
He tells Parade magazine, "That was really, really weird and hurtful. I’ve been working in this business for a long time, and it’s the first time I’ve ever found myself caught up in the middle of tabloid journalism…
"It felt dirty and invasive. It gave me so much empathy for real celebrities, people that have lived with this frenzied scrutiny for their entire life."

GOSPEL STAR TRIBBETT ‘CONTEMPLATED SUICIDE’ AFTER CHEATING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:08 pm

Gospel singer TYE TRIBBETT suffered from such terrible depression during the breakdown of his marriage, he contemplated suicide "almost every day".
Tribbett’s relationship with his wife Shante became strained after he admitted to having an affair with a woman from his choir, Greater Anointin, last year (09).
The damage to their marriage was compounded when Shante sought revenge by cheating on Tribbett with another man - sending him spiralling into a deep depression.
He tells the Associated Press, "I thought it was something that’ll never happen. I saw infidelity with my mum and dad who was a pastor, which made them split. I told myself that I would never do that. So when it happened in my marriage, it was like ‘Whoa.’ God broke down my self-righteousness, my pride…
"When I was between my house and mum’s home (during the separation), I was contemplating suicide - almost every day." But the couple, which shares two daughters, has since patched up its relationship, and Tribbett insists the union is now stronger than ever.
He adds: "Every second, it’s like we are texting each other. We’ve been married for 13 years, but it’s kind of like we are dating again. Personally, this is a fresh start for me as a husband and a father."

MICHELE NOT READY TO RECORD DEBUT ALBUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:08 pm

GLEE star LEA MICHELE is putting off plans to follow her TV co-stars MATTHEW MORRISON and MARK SALLING into the music industry by releasing her own album, because she’s not ready to make such a "big commitment".
The singer/actress, who has shown off her powerful vocals on Broadway as well as on the hit TV musical, admits she would love to one day record a disc of her own songs, but she would need enough time to nurture the project from start to finish.
She tells Us Weekly, "I think it’s definitely in my future, but that’s a really big commitment. (Her Glee character) Rachel’s my baby, and making an album would be like taking care of another baby. And I’m not really ready to have another kid yet!" Morrison is set to make his mark on the pop charts in February (11) with his debut solo album Bringing it to the Masses, while Salling releases his second album, Pipe Dreams, next week (26Oct10).

WEST SLAMS ‘SHAM’ AWARDS SHOWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:35 pm

KANYE WEST has reignited the controversy over his treatment of TAYLOR SWIFT at last year’s (09) MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) by fiercely criticising the world’s most high profile prize-givings - insisting most of the winners don’t deserve honours.
The rapper hit headlines when he stormed the stage at the show in New York and ruined the country star’s acceptance speech by insisting the Best Female Video prize should have been given to Beyonce instead.
West has now opened up about his disdain for awards ceremonies, including the Grammy Awards and the VMAs, insisting voters should pay closer attention to the charts when they make their selections.
He tells Access Hollywood, "Where’s our instant replay clock? Why are the last four Albums of the Year: Taylor Swift, Dixie Chicks, Ray Charles and Herbie Hancock? Like, you know, with all due respect… that’s inaccurate. It’s like SexyBack you know what I’m saying? Like (Justin Timberlake’s) FutureSex/LoveSounds, Gnarls Barkley. How about Usher - Confessions? How about albums that sold 10 million? "I pinpoint the Grammys and the VMAs because they have to take responsibility, because they mean something to us. Little kids, six years (old), that are singing in front of the mirror. They’re also thinking about their Grammy speech; they’re thinking about when there will be a VMA so these people, whoever run them… they have to take some responsibility to say what really happened in culture this year because we’re marking it down." And West is adamant he is not complaining because he hasn’t won the awards he wants, but is speaking out on behalf of "all artists".
He adds, "It’s not really about me. It’s about everybody. It’s about all artists. It’s about fair ground. If Drake is having an awesome year and his year is better than mine, I’m not gonna say I should win. I’m gonna say Drake should win."

AGUILERA THANKS FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOR SPLIT SUPPORT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:35 pm

CHRISTINA AGUILERA has credited her family and friends with helping her through her painful split from husband JORDAN BRATMAN, revealing there are days when she can’t even "get out of bed".
The singer announced her separation from Bratman last week (beg11Oct10) and subsequently filed divorce papers in a bid to officially end the union.
Aguilera has now opened up about the breakdown of her marriage, admitting she has struggled in the aftermath of the split, but her loved ones have been invaluable in helping her cope.
She tells Redbook, "It’s not easy, and there have been a lot of tears and sadness. It’s impossible to redefine yourself and your life overnight. Thankfully, I have my mom and a small group of close friends who are there for me 24/7 and whom I can trust and depend on. On days when it feels impossible to even get out of bed, much less function as a mother, their support and encouragement have kept me moving forward." Aguilera refuses to comment on the reasons the marriage broke down, insisting she is looking to the future for the sake of the former couple’s young son Max.
She adds, "Out of respect for my husband, I prefer to keep the specifics private. Right now, I’m just trying to figure out how to make it through each day. Thankfully, I have Max to keep me on a sane path. His needs and happiness are my top priorities, and my biggest concern is to protect him and make him feel safe."

SIR ELTON URGES LOHAN TO DITCH ‘PAMPERING’ REHAB CENTRES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:32 pm

SIR ELTON JOHN is urging LINDSAY LOHAN to swap "pampering" rehab centres for a tough "boot camp" treatment course - because the troubled actress needs serious professional help with her problems.
The British singer spent years battling drink and drug demons and endured numerous stints in clinics as he attempted to kick his addictions.
The Rocket Man admits he can empathise with Lohan, who has spent this year (10) in and out of prison and rehab as she tries to get sober, but fears she may be taking the wrong approach to her treatment.
Lohan is currently a patient at the Betty Ford clinic in California, but John is urging her to ditch rehab centres with "televisions and swimming pools" for a strict regime at the tough Hazelden clinic in Minnesota, where stars including Ozzy Osbourne, Eric Clapton, Liza Minnelli and Melanie Griffith have all received treatment.
He says, "Lindsay needs to go away somewhere to somewhere like Hazelden in Minnesota which is a kind of boot camp. But to get well you don’t go to treatment centres which have televisions and swimming pools. That’s not the way you do it. That’s pampering." And the star also wants Lohan to cut ties with her troubled family, as her relatives may be fuelling her drug addiction.
He adds, "You have to ask for help. And you have to be ready for it, you have to surrender to it and ask for help and accept help and get rid of the people who are around you. That’s the worst. And by that I mean her family too, they’re enablers."

BALDWIN COMES OUT FOR GAY RIGHTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:32 pm

ALEC BALDWIN has shot a humorous new video urging officials in New York to make gay marriage legal so he can wed MODERN FAMILY star JESSE TYLER FERGUSON.
Openly-gay actor Ferguson recorded his own internet promo this summer (10), in which he confessed to a crush on the 30 Rock star and bemoaned the law which forbids him from marrying his idol.
Baldwin has now stepped in front of the camera to record his response to Ferguson’s plea, joking that the only reason he is unable to exchange vows with the actor is because of the ban on same-sex marriages.
He says, "As a result of this video, a vast and malicious whisper campaign has emerged alleging that I can’t marry Jesse because I’m not gay. There is one reason and one reason only why I can’t marry Jesse in New York next year - the New York State Senate." Baldwin urges viewers to join a campaign to help "remove from office those senators who stand in the way of equality," and adds, "Because no one tells a New Yorker that they can’t marry Jesse Tyler Ferguson."

LOPEZ’S TWINS MAKE FASHION DEBUT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:31 pm

JENNIFER LOPEZ’s two-year-old twins, MAX and EMME, have made their modelling debut in a campaign for fashion house Gucci.
Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony welcomed the tots in 2008 and now the youngsters have appeared with their mother in a new photoshoot for the brand’s children’s line.
The singer/actress is pictured walking on the beach with the twins in her arms in the shots and Lopez admits she is delighted with the results.
She tells US Weekly, "It’s the first time I have worked with my kids in that way. It was a totally special experience… I did a photo shoot when they were three weeks old, but now that they are two and a half, it’s totally different!" And the star reveals she agreed to the campaign after hearing about Gucci’s work with good causes, which saw the company donate $1 million (£666,667) to UNICEF’s Schools for Africa initiative and $50,000 (£33,333) to Lopez’s own charity the Maribel Foundation.
She adds, "I was particularly inspired when I first met (Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini) in 2008 at the fundraising event she hosted in New York to benefit UNICEF. When Frida told me about her trip to Malawi and her excitement about launching her new children’s collection, I was inspired by her idea to build upon Gucci’s long term support for UNICEF with a donation in honour of the launch of the collection. As a mother, I am proud to be a part of this campaign to benefit UNICEF’s Schools for Africa program."

WILLIS TAUGHT DAUGHTERS TO STAND UP TO BULLIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

Hollywood hardman BRUCE WILLIS taught his daughters to stand up to bullies from a young age - because he wanted to make sure his girls never suffered at the hands of high school thugs.
The Die Hard star is father to 22-year-old Rumer, 19-year-old Scout and Tallulah Belle, 16, with his ex-wife Demi Moore.
Willis is adamant his daughters were able to enjoy their early years, because he told them to confront other students straight away if they ever encountered any problems in the playground.
He tells Britain’s Daybreak TV show, "I taught them a little thing when they were younger and they can actually protect themselves now. Walk up to any young guy who is shoving (you) around in the playground and scream in their face, ‘It’s not ok to be mean’. It works too. It’s not ok to be mean.
"Try it… It works. What you have to do is get right up to their face and scream at the top of your lungs, ‘Hey! It’s not ok to be mean!’"

WILLIS FEARS DIE HARD REPLACEMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

BRUCE WILLIS is determined to continue his DIE HARD franchise for two more films as he fears movie bosses will replace him if he quits.
The Hollywood hardman reprised his role as tough cop John McClane in 2007 for the fourth installment in the series, and he recently confirmed work will soon start on a fifth movie.
Willis has now revealed he won’t walk away from the action films, as studio bosses want to make at least two more and he is worried they will carry on without him if he pulls out.
He tells Showbiz Spy, "In the next few years they could easily find a replacement for me or call the character someone else. But for me, I want to do Die Hard 5, then one final Die Hard movie - Die Hard 6 - before finally hanging that white vest up for good.
"At the moment, I can run and I can fight on screen. But there will come a time when I no longer want to do that. That’s when I’ll step away from the Die Hard films."
