T.I.’s legal woes are mounting as he counts down to his latest prison term - he’s facing a court battle with a concert promoter over his refusal to perform at a ‘welcome home’ party earlier this year (10).
The Live Your Life hitmaker, real name Clifford Harris, Jr., completed a sentence for weapons possession last December (09) and signed a deal with Alabama promoter Carl D. Davis to throw a special bash celebrating his return home.
In legal papers filed on Monday (18Oct10), Davis claims he flew to the rapper’s native Atlanta, Georgia and handed over an $80,000 (£53,300) fee to T.I.’s representatives to stage his first gig since his prison release.
The event was due to be held at the Birmingham Jefferson Coliseum in May (10), but problems arose when the hip-hop star went on air and told a local radio DJ he would be hosting the party, but had no plans to perform.
Davis alleges T.I.’s announcement prompted fans to question the validity of the Alabama show, and the event was subsequently scrapped.
He claims he suffered severe stress as a result of the cancelled gig, including chest pains, nausea, emotional distress and hospitalisation, because he had invested his life savings of over $340,000 (£226,670) into the concert.
Davis is suing for compensation.
T.I. eventually made his return to the stage in August (10) at a star-studded comeback gig in New York.
He is due to report to authorities by 1 November (10) to begin a new 11-month jail term after violating his probation following a drug bust.

Model/actress JENNY MCCARTHY’s first sexual romance was with a teddy bear called Tubby.

A leading Hindu statesman has taken aim at Playboy bosses over a racy new yoga video in which a naked Playmate shows off her bendy bod.
Rajan Zed, the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, tells WENN he and other top Hindus are upset over Playboy’s use of yoga as erotica.
In the online video, posted on Playboy.com, sexy model Sara Jean Underwood performs various yoga poses on a mat - totally naked.
Outraged Zed says, "Hindus are upset over what is the misuse of the age-old and revered system of yoga by Playboy for mercantile greed and we are urging the organisation to withdraw all its yoga-related products.
"Yoga is one of the six systems of orthodox Hindu philosophy and it is highly revered in Hinduism. It is actually a serious mental and physical discipline by means of which the human soul can unite with the universal soul.
"Sara Jean Underwood wants you to gain an intimate understanding of her asanas, the various postures and positions practised in yoga, suggesting the next best thing to actually doing them in person is watching these sexy nude videos that are designed to raise your heart rate." The video was posted online to promote DVD titles Erotic Nude Yoga, Totally Nude Yoga Tai Chi and Erotic Yoga for Couples.
Appalled Zed says, "Some sages have described yoga as the silencing of all mental transformations, which leads to the total realisation of the Supreme Self. Some have used yoga attempting to gain liberation by removing all sensory barriers… Yoga is a methodical effort to attain perfection, through the control of the different elements of human nature, physical and psychical.
"Playboy should not attempt to distort the esteemed yoga tradition as it hurts the devotees of yoga."

MEL GIBSON’s ex-girlfriend OKSANA GRIGORIEVA has lost her fight against allowing cops to seize her computer as part of an investigation into extortion allegations.
The Braveheart star and the Russian singer are currently embroiled in a bitter custody battle over of their baby daughter Lucia, following their split earlier this year (10).
Grigorieva is also under a police investigation over allegations she attempted to extort money from Gibson in exchange for keeping private audio tapes of their shocking arguments out of the public domain.
Lawyers working for Grigorieva asked a judge not to allow a recently issued search warrant to extend to her personal computer, insisting the device contained private snaps of her breastfeeding her baby daughter, as well as unreleased music tracks.
But on Thursday (21Oct10), Judge Scott Gordon told Grigorieva’s legal team, "For me to begin to limit law enforcement functions in the investigation is premature at this time… therefore this motion is denied." Following the ruling, a furious Grigorieva slammed the decision, telling TMZ.com, "My life is inside that computer… it’s something I don’t particularly want anybody to have.
"Pictures, videos, pictures of Mel’s family… it’s all there… the last six years. It’s my entire life, what right do they have? "I’m not an extortionist, there was never an attempt at extortion… I never even asked for money."

MEL GIBSON’s high-profile cameo in THE HANGOVER sequel has been axed amid reports the movie’s cast angrily objected to sharing the spotlight with the troubled star.
The Braveheart star has had a tough 2010 following his nasty split from ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, who has accused the actor of beating her in a violent altercation, which she caught in a series of abusive taped phone rants, in January (10).
He was expected to bounce back from his troubles with a light-hearted guest role in The Hangover follow-up.
However, director Todd Phillips has confirmed he was forced to scrap Gibson’s cameo following tensions on-set.
A statement from Phillips reads, "I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of (Warner Brothers boss) Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew." Earlier this month (Oct10), The Hangover’s stand-out star Zach Galifianakis hinted he had been in turmoil over an undisclosed decision by the sequel’s producers, revealing in a podcast, "I’m in a deep protest right now with a movie I’m working on, up in arms about something. But I can’t get the guys to (listen)… I’m not making any leeway." The Hangover 2 reteams Galifianakis with Bradley Cooper, Justin Bartha and Ed Helms.

TV prankster-turned-actor DAX SHEPARD has teamed up with his PUNK’D mentor ASHTON KUTCHER for his directorial debut.
The When in Rome star has stepped behind the camera to make mockumentary Brother’s Justice, which chronicles his own desperate attempts to become a martial arts star.
The movie features Kutcher and Shepard’s pals Tom Arnold and Bradley Cooper.
The plot summary reads, "Together, they fight to realise Dax’s true passion while facing rejection at every turn. With maniacal conviction, Dax journeys on a bizarre path that becomes increasingly nonsensical and destructive, all at the expense and exploitation of his personal and professional relationships." Brother’s Justice will be screened as part of this weekend’s (22-24Oct10) Hollywood Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Actor JOHNNY DEPP is campaigning for director ROB MARSHALL to take charge of a planned movie remake of detective film THE THIN MAN.
Depp is currently working on the fourth instalment of The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with Marshall and he’s keen to continue his working relationship with the filmmaker.
He is reportedly lobbying for Marshall to sign on for the upcoming Warner Brothers project, for which he’ll take the lead role, reports New York Magazine’s Vulture blog.
The Thin Man, based on the 1934 book by Dashiell Hammett, previously hit the big screen as a six-film franchise starring William Powell as Nick Charles, a detective who gives up his career and becomes an alcoholic househusband.
It also hit small screens in the U.S. as a TV series between 1957 and 1959.

ROD STEWART is trying his best to make up for lost time after reconciling with the daughter he put up for adoption in the 1960s.
The star was just 17 years old when his art student girlfriend Susannah Boffey gave birth to their daughter Sarah just before the teenage romance came to an end.
Boffey struggled to raise the baby on her own and eventually decided to put her up for adoption.
Stewart and his daughter, now Sarah Streeter, fought to forge a relationship in the 1980s after she discovered the rocker was her real dad, but contact soon "fizzled" out.
They were reunited following the death of Streeter’s adopted mum three years ago, and Stewart admits he is doing his best to become a father figure for his eldest child.
He says, "She was put up for adoption when I was 17 or 18, I think. I was absolutely stone broke.
"Since her (adopted) mum and dad have died, we’ve tried to come together and be close together, and it’s working out pretty well. I never felt like I was her dad, because I didn’t take her to school, change her nappies, there was no paternal thing there, but I’m trying." Meanwhile, Stewart is about to become a dad again - at 65; the rocker’s wife Penny Lancaster is pregnant with his eighth child.

Animal rights activists at PETA are threatening to sue the publishers of a British tabloid newspaper over an article suggesting they were planning to douse VICTORIA BECKHAM in lizard blood.
The Mirror reported the group members had targeted the former Spice Girls star for the gory stunt as a protest against her new handbag line, which features items made from the skin of exotic animals.
The article, printed earlier this week (beg18Oct10), suggested Beckham’s aides were being forced to "bolster security" during an upcoming promotional trip to the U.K. ahead of the launch of her new accessories collection.
It went on to state, "Furious that Victoria’s bags - made from crocodile, lizard and calf leather - are being billed as next season’s ultimate accessory, tetchy campaigners PETA are planning a spectacular coup d’etat." The newspaper even quoted a PETA source, stating, "One of the ideas being mooted is that Victoria gets covered in a bucket of animal blood - cow or lizard - at her next U.K. public appearance." The piece has left the organisation’s leaders appalled and angry - because they have no such plans.
A PETA spokeswoman tells WENN, "PETA and PETA’s U.K. affiliate have retained legal counsel in the U.K. to vigorously pursue The Mirror for deliberately distributing a totally fabricated report about PETA’s plans regarding Victoria Beckham’s collection.
"We appreciate Ms. Beckham’s rejection of fur and had approached her - 100 per cent respectfully - over the suffering of lizards and other reptiles who are often skinned alive for fashion. We appealed to her to watch a video. That’s all."

CHRISTINA AGUILERA’s representatives have dismissed reports the pop star ended her marriage following a domestic dispute, which resulted in a hospital stay.
New photos of the Beautiful singer appear to show her with a cut lip and that, linked to a late-night hospital visit in the days leading up to the star’s split from husband Jordan Bratman, have sent gossips into overdrive.
But reps for the pop star have slammed reports suggesting the two stories are evidence of domestic violence, telling TMZ.com there was no marital squabble.
RadarOnline.com reports the bloody lip came following a fall at her home and husband Bratman accompanied Aguilera to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where the singer was discreetly stitched up.
Aguilera and Bratman confirmed their separation on 12 October (10) and Aguilera filed for divorce just two days later.
The couple has been married for five years.

Music producer RICK RUBIN has shed 130 pounds (58.9 kilograms) after embarking on a strict diet and workout regime.

The mogul reportedly embarked on a fish and protein shake diet and works out six days a week to keep his shape.

Hip-hop and R&B star CEE-LO GREEN is challenging parents who have attacked him for releasing the catchiest song of the year, with the most offensive title to get over themselves and accept the ‘F’ word is everywhere in society.
The Gnarls Barkley star is enjoying massive success with his new hit F**k You and its fun video - and he insists that parents who have blasted him over the song title should be less uptight.
He tells the Los Angeles Times, "I have a 10 year old (child) and I think, with the Internet and the entertainment industry being as it is, there is so much more accessible and unauthorised, and unapologetic, that we may as well be as honest with our kids.
"I wouldn’t necessarily want my children to be naive about anything. I can either teach them how to negate or navigate, to get through it or avoid it completely. That’s all that we can hope for them - to be able to distinguish things." And he insists the song, which has been retitled and dubbed Forget You for radio play, isn’t all that offensive: "If you think about the lyrics, in literal terms, I saw them (girl of his dreams and her boyfriend) driving past, and I’m like, ‘F**k you!’ But I didn’t say it to her; I’m just thinking it out loud.
"The song is about smiling in the face of adversity, and accepting and moving on. There’s definitely a silver lining to it.
"It’s just meant to be funny, really… I dare somebody to have a problem with this song."

JESSE JAMES’ ex-wife JANINE LINDEMULDER has been questioned by police in California after allegedly throwing a hot drink over a paparazzo as she headed into court for a child custody hearing.
The porn star was walking into an elevator in a courthouse in Orange County on Thursday (21Oct10) when she reportedly lashed out at a snapper who got too close.
According to TMZ.com, Lindemulder swung her arm at the photographer and doused him in hot coffee, prompting him to fall backwards against a wall. Photos of the incident have been posted on the website.
Orange County Sheriffs deputies were called to the scene to investigate the scuffle and the snapper was taken to a local hospital.
Lindemulder’s court appearance stems from her longrunning battle with TV mechanic James to win more visitation with their daughter Sunny, who now lives with Sandra Bullock’s ex-husband in Texas.

A lawyer for MEL GIBSON’s ex-girlfriend OKSANA GRIGORIEVA has hit out at her former bodyguard and branded him a "complete liar" amid allegations he was romantically involved with the Russian singer.
Kristian Herzog was fired by Grigorieva in October (10) after he was exposed as a convicted felon who had completed a jail term for firearms offences in March (10) - and was on probation.
Grigorieva only became aware of the security guard’s criminal background when Gibson obtained a restraining order against Herzog, banning him from being around their baby daughter Lucia.
But Herzog, who was not made to sign a privacy agreement at the start of his employment, has since gone public with plans to release a book detailing claims he had an affair with Grigorieva following her split from the Hollywood actor. He has also alleged he’s still in contact with the singer.
However, Grigorieva’s attorney Daniel Horowitz has hit out at Herzog, insisting he’s a "complete liar".
He adds, "(Herzog is) half blackmailer, and half psychopath." And Grigorieva is adamant there is no truth to any of the reports, telling TMZ.com, "I don’t speak to him. I don’t communicate with him… I follow the court orders… He betrayed me."

A representative for REESE WITHERSPOON has shot down reports the Hollywood actress is heading down the aisle to wed her agent boyfriend.
The Legally Blonde star was rumoured to have accepted a proposal from Jim Toth, 10 months after they began dating.
A source told Us Weekly magazine, "Jim is ready (for marriage)… (Witherspoon) is happy, in love and definitely wants to settle down." But the actress’ spokesperson has dismissed the claims, telling People.com, "They are not engaged." An insider insists the couple is well matched, but there are no immediate plans to wed.
The source says, "Jim knows Reese is the one for him. It’s what he’s been waiting for. (Getting engaged) is a natural step for them but they’re not in a rush. There’s no deadline, no timetable. But it’s something in the future." The engagement speculation comes two months after Witherspoon, who was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe, was forced to deny tabloid reports she was pregnant with Toth’s child.

Hip-hop mogul 50 CENT is expanding his acting resume - the rapper is set to star opposite Hollywood veterans MEG RYAN and JOHN LITHGOW in a new drama.
Writer/director Chris Rossi has assembled the eclectic cast for Lives of the Saints, a film about a group of Los Angelinos seeking redemption for past mistakes.
The picture, which also stars Joe Anderson and Kat Dennings, is scheduled to begin filming in Los Angeles on 13 November (10), reports Variety.
50, who launched his film production company Cheetah Vision last year (09), has been steadily building up his acting resume since making his big screen debut in 2005’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’. He also enjoyed a key role in 2008’s Righteous Kill, starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
