IGLESIAS’ REP DENIES KOURNIKOVA SPLIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

A representative for ENRIQUE IGLESIAS has dismissed rumours the pop star has split from his longterm girlfriend ANNA KOURNIKOVA.
The singer has been dating the former tennis star since 2002 but despite their eight-year relationship, the couple has consistently denied having any plans to marry.
The romance was recently rumoured to be in trouble, with speculation focusing on the pair’s long separation as Iglesias promotes his latest album in Europe.
But a spokesperson for the star is adamant the couple’s relationship is still going strong, telling New York Post gossip column Page Six, "They are definitely together. Enrique has been out of the country on a promotional tour, so maybe that’s where the speculation is coming from."

MICHAEL’S PRISON SHOPPING LIST REVEALED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

Receipts from GEORGE MICHAEL’s recent stint in prison show the star kept up his beauty regime while behind bars by treating himself to toenail clippers, anti-dandruff shampoo and whitening toothpaste.
The former Wham! singer was jailed in September (10) and served 27 days of an eight-week sentence for possession of cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs following a car crash in north London in July (10).
Michael began his stint at London’s tough Pentonville Prison, but was later transferred to a minimum security facility in Suffolk, England until his release earlier this month (Oct10).
Shopping receipts from the star’s time behind bars have been obtained by Britain’s Daily Star newspaper and reveal the singer made an effort to maintain his appearance in jail, ordering a bottle of Head & Shoulders shampoo, Macleans Whitening toothpaste and toenail clippers.
He also asked for several pouches of tobacco and a variety of sweet treats, including chocolate eclairs, cookies, cakes and strawberry jam, as well as tea bags, potato chips and peanut butter.

KNIGHTLEY SET FOR WEST END RETURN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY is set to make a return to the London stage just a year after she received a slew of negative reviews for her West End debut in THE MISANTHROPE.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star took to the stage last December (09) in an adaptation of the Moliere classic opposite Damian Lewis and Tara Fitzgerald.
Knightley’s performance was mauled by critics who branded her inexperienced and inadequate, with one harsh reviewer notably accusing the actress of having the "charisma of a serviceable goldfish".
But the actress looks set to return to the same venue, The Comedy Theatre, next year (11) for a production of Lillian Hellman’s The Children’s Hour opposite Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss.
Knightley has reportedly told British newspaper the Daily Mail she is looking forward to making her stage comeback, branding the project "very exciting".
The Children’s Hour is set in an all-girls boarding school and tells the story of an angry student who runs away and avoids being sent back by telling her family the two headmistresses are having a lesbian affair.
The story was made into a 1961 movie of the same name starring Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine.

SWIZZ BEATZ SUED BY SONGWRITER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:23 pm

ALICIA KEYS’ husband SWIZZ BEATZ is facing a lawsuit from a songwriter who alleges the producer failed to credit him on a track he worked on for rapper CASSIDY.
Antwann Frost filed suit this week (beg18Oct10) claiming he and Swizz Beatz co-produced a track called My Drink ‘n My 2 Step in 2007 for the hip-hop star’s third album B.A.R.S. The Barry Adrian Reese Story.
But Frost was not acknowledged with a producing credit for his work and he alleges Swizz Beatz - real name Kasseem Dean - later offered him $5,000 (£3,333) and five per cent ownership of the song.
Frost insists he rejected the offer and is now taking his complaint to court, seeking $1.5 million (£1 million) and equal ownership of the track with Swizz Beatz and Cassidy, according to TMZ.com.

CHISHOLM SLAMS REALITY SHOWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:22 pm

Former SPICE GIRLS star MELANIE CHISHOLM has criticised TV singing contests for encouraging fame hungry wannabes instead of nurturing raw talent.
The singer rose to global superstardom alongside Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Geri Halliwell with the girl group in the 1990s.
Chisholm insists new artists are now "overexposed" thanks to shows such as Simon Cowell’s American Idol and The X Factor - and she’s blaming fast track talent programmes for affecting the quality of music coming out of the industry.
She tells Britain’s Daily Express, "Culture has changed and celebrities are famous for being famous which is such a shame. The music industry has changed so much over the years with digital downloading.
"Shows such as The X Factor on TV are a great medium to get people noticed - it’s a really big promotion but I think sometimes musically the industry suffers because people are overexposed and their music isn’t as great as it could and should be. There are some very talented artists who unfortunately don’t get great tracks."

JAY-Z FUMING OVER BOOK MISTAKE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:20 pm

Rap superstar JAY-Z was left fuming after spotting a mistake in his upcoming autobiography when one of the pages was unveiled on a giant poster in Florida.
The hip-hop mogul was in South Beach on Wednesday night (20Oct10) to publicise his new book Decoded and he was reading out loud to guests at the launch event from a large printed page, which had been plastered at the bottom of a swimming pool.
But the star stopped when he found a typing error in the lyrics to his song Big Pimpin’.
An onlooker tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "Jay then saw a mistake in the song Big Pimpin’ and pointed it out to his team to get it fixed." A representative for the rapper has confirmed the mistake will be rectified before the book goes to print, adding, "The lyrics will be fixed. The book hasn’t been printed yet and comes out in November."

GREEN’S TERROR OVER MOBO BRAWL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:19 pm

British rapper PROFESSOR GREEN has spoken of his terror as a MOBO Awards afterparty descended into violence, forcing the star to cut short his performance and evacuate the venue.
The Just be Good To Green hitmaker picked up the prize for Best U.K. Hip Hop/Grime Act at the prestigious Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards in Liverpool, England on Wednesday night (20Oct10) and he attended a post-awards bash to celebrate after the show.
But the party at the city’s Hilton Hotel turned nasty when brawls broke out in the crowd, and irate revellers began throwing bottles on stage as Green was performing.
Police were called to deal with the situation and the rapper cut short his set in a bid to escape the scuffles.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "After what happened to me (when I was stabbed in the neck last year) I didn’t want to take any chances with someone jumping up on stage, so I just got out of there."

MCKAGAN’S ROSES REUNION WASN’T PLANNED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:19 pm

DUFF MCKAGAN has opened up about his surprise appearance with GUNS N’ ROSES on stage in London last week (14Oct10) - revealing the reunion came about after he accidentally checked into the same hotel as his former band.
The bassist quit the group in 1997 and stunned fans at London’s O2 Arena last Thursday night (14Oct10) by appearing onstage and playing with the group for the first time since his departure.
The rocker now admits the reunion came about after he happened to book a room at the same London hotel as his former bandmate Axl Rose on the day of the gig.
He tells Seattle, Washington radio station KISW 99.9 FM, "I got to London last Thursday. I was there on separate business… I checked into the hotel in London I stay at all the time… I had no idea Axl and Guns N’ Roses were in London… So we’re going up the elevator and (the hotel manager) said, ‘You know, Axl is in the room next to us.’…
"The word (was) out I (was) in the hotel… Axl and I just sort of met up, we saw each other and we hugged. I went down to the gig with him… (We) had a nice talk…" McKagan went to the concert with the band and was stunned when a member of the crew handed him a bass guitar and told him to get out on stage.
He says, "The show is going on and I’m watching it. And somebody comes over with a bass… Now, I haven’t played (the band’s track) You Could Be Mine since 1993… I was, like, ‘Oh, God. OK, I can play it. I think I remember it.’" But McKagan’s return nearly ended in disaster when he forgot part of the tune and had to turn to current Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal for help.
He adds, "I’d forgotten the second part of the bridge, and I had to look at his guitar neck, to see where the next guitar chord was. But, yeah, it was fun. I had a great time."

SALLING DEFENDS SAUCY GLEE PHOTOS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:16 pm

Actor MARK SALLING has defended his fellow GLEE stars over their sexy photoshoot - insisting critics need to realise they are adults playing teenage schoolkids.
Dianna Agron and Lea Michele are pictured as saucy, scantily-clad cheerleaders in the latest issue of men’s magazine GQ, and are also featured on the cover in a provocative pose in which their co-star Cory Monteith has his hand on Michele’s butt.
The photos caused a storm of protest from the Parents Television Council, with a spokesman insisting the article is "sexualising the actresses" who are heroes to millions of teenage girls.
Agron spoke out this week (begs18Oct10) to underline that the photoshoot was for a magazine aimed at adult males - and now Salling has also defended the pictures, insisting Glee fans are well aware of the stars’ real age.
He tells KIIS FM presenter JoJo Wright, "Personally, I think it’s not a big deal. Lea is 23 years old and has every right to do that. I mean, come on! We’re obviously not in high school. It’s tongue-in-cheek that we’re in high school. People are starving, (football team Dallas) Cowboys are losing - there’s more important things to worry about in the world." Bosses at GQ have also spoken out to defend the covershoot. A spokesman says, "The Parents Television Council must not be watching much TV these days and should learn to divide reality from fantasy. As often happens in Hollywood, these ‘kids’ are in their twenties. Cory Montieth’s almost 30! I think they’re old enough to do what they want."

HOBBIT BOSSES STILL PLAN TO QUIT NEW ZEALAND

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:16 pm

Movie bosses behind PETER JACKSON’s upcoming blockbuster THE HOBBIT have confirmed they still plan to move the shoot away from New Zealand in the wake of the dispute with actors’ unions in the country.
Executives at New Zealand Actors Equity threw the production into jeopardy last month (Sep10) by instigating a boycott of the film over performers’ rights, and the action was backed by unions in countries including the U.S. and U.K.
Director Jackson filmed all three Lord of the Rings pictures in the country, but he recently confirmed he was looking into other locations for the prequel to avoid more trouble with the union.
The dispute appeared to have been resolved this week (beg18Oct10) when the New Zealand-based guild lifted the boycott, but Jackson insists relations with union bosses are still strained.
He says, "Lifting the blacklist does nothing to help the situation." Executives at Warner Brothers confirm union chiefs are still making extra demands, so producers will continue to search for another place to film the new movie.
Warner Brothers spokeswoman Candice McDonough says in a statement, "(The unions) continued to demand, as a condition of the retractions (of the boycott), that we participate in union negotiations with the independent contractor performers, negotiations which are illegal in the opinion of the New Zealand Attorney General.
"We have refused to do so, and will continue to refuse to do so. The actions of these unions have caused us substantial damage and disruption and forced us to consider other filming locations for the first time. Alternative locations are still being considered." The movie, starring Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, will start shooting in February (11).

BRATT SUES OVER FILM MONEY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:16 pm

BENJAMIN BRATT is taking legal action against the bosses behind his latest movie LA MISSION over allegations they failed to pay him for his role in the film.
The former Law & Order star appears in the movie - written and directed by his brother Peter - as a father who struggles to come to terms with his son’s homosexuality.
Bratt claims he signed a contract with the movie’s distribution company, Screen Media Ventures, which would give him and production company 5 Stick Films two bonus payments if the picture did well at the box office.
The movie earned more than $1 million (£666,667) following its release in May (10), but Bratt claims the first payment of $200,000 (£133,333) was late and the company has yet to hand over the second installment of the same amount.
He has now filed a lawsuit at Los Angeles Superior Court in a bid to recoup the cash.
Joseph Kovacs, president of Screen Media, tells Reuters, "There’s a disagreement on the guidelines on how to interpret when the film reached certain results."

JACKSON TEARFUL IN FINAL CHAT WITH EX-WIFE PRESLEY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:20 am

MICHAEL JACKSON attempted a tearful reconciliation with his ex-wife LISA MARIE PRESLEY in 2005 and she now regrets her indifference to his need for love and help.
Presley, who was married to the King of Pop for two years in the mid-1990s, reveals Jackson reached out to her in a strange phone chat four years before his death last year (Jun09) - and it became the last time they talked.
In a candid TV chat with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in America on Thursday (21Oct10), she recalled, "It was a very long conversation and I was so removed from him and he could feel it and he could hear it… I was very distanced and he was checking to get a read. He was trying to throw a line out to see if I would bite emotionally. And I wouldn’t. I was pretty shut off at that point.
"He wanted to tell me that I was right about a lot of the people around him… and he asked if I still loved him and we went into a whole thing about that, and I told him I was indifferent and he didn’t like that word and he cried.
"And then the final part of the conversation was him telling me that he felt that someone was gonna try and kill him to get hold of his catalogue (of songs) and his estate, and I really didn’t know what to do with that… He expressed to me his concern over his life."

PRESLEY HURT BY ROWE BABY TAUNTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:19 am

LISA MARIE PRESLEY and MICHAEL JACKSON’s 18-month marriage in the mid-1990s started to crumble when the King of Pop told her his friend DEBBIE ROWE had offered to have children with him.
The rocker admits she was far from shocked when her then-ex announced his new wife Rowe was carrying his first child months after he divorced Presley - because he used to taunt her with the idea while they were married.
In a revealing TV interview with Oprah Winfrey, Presley says, "I knew it was a bit of a retaliatory act on his part because I didn’t have a baby and I know that she was there the whole time telling him she would do it. He would tell me… ‘If you’re not gonna do it, Debbie says she’ll do it.’ "I was like, ‘What is that? Not gonna entice me,’ so we would get into arguments because that really wasn’t how to handle it - but that’s how he knew how to handle it." And Presley admits those arguments were the beginning of the end for the marriage: "I understand him so well now but, at that time, I was hurt and I did things that hurt him." She reveals that her closeness with her former husband Danny Keogh, who she had two children with, was a big issue for Jackson.
Presley explains, "I was very torn because I broke up my family and I left my husband for Michael… While I was with Michael I was still trying to process what I had done… I felt, ‘How could I have done that to somebody…?’ "Danny was still very much part of my life and Michael didn’t know what to do with that sometimes and that made him uncomfortable. I would take a vacation and Danny would go and Michael would get upset.. and then he would disappear for a couple of weeks and I couldn’t find him.
"We hit rough waters and we would argue - three-day arguments sometimes, taking a break to eat and sleep. I’d have to say that I really admire that he really gave it (our marriage) a good shot. I didn’t appreciate it then and I wish I did."
