The drug dealer the ROLLING STONES blamed for setting them up in a high-profile raid on KEITH RICHARDS’ England home in the 1960s "never showed any remorse" for almost ruining the rockers’ careers, according to the police informant’s former lover.
Richards and Mick Jagger faced charges for possession of cannabis and amphetamines after cops stormed the guitarist’s Sussex country estate during a wild party in 1967.
For years the pair blamed a man known only as the Acid King for tipping off cops about the drug and alcohol-fuelled bash, because he disappeared and was never seen again after supplying them with the illegal substances.
In his new autobiography, Life, Richards revealed the identity of the Acid King as David Sniderman, claiming he was a police informant who worked with authorities to target the Stones, amid fears about the rockers’ growing influence over British youths.
Now the U.K.’s Mail on Sunday newspaper reports Sniderman was a failed actor from Toronto, Canada, who was recruited by undercover agents from the U.K. and U.S. to help discredit the band.
Sniderman reportedly escaped to Hollywood after the drug raid and changed his name to David Jove, working as a film producer and director.
And according to his ex-girlfriend, talent agent Maggie Abbott, Sniderman never regretted turning the Stones over to the authorities.
She says, "David was a heavy drug user but had a quick wit. He was the perfect choice to infiltrate the Stones.
"He never showed any remorse for what he did. It was all about how he had been ‘the victim’. He was a totally selfish person.
"Mick had been my friend as well as a client and I thought about trying to persuade David to come clean publicly. But he was always armed with a handgun and I feared that if I gave him away, he’d shoot me." Sniderman allegedly agreed to set up the rock legends after he was caught carrying marijuana through U.K. customs. He died in 2004.

KELLY OSBOURNE is relieved she’s managed to overcome her painkiller addiction - because she fears she would have suffered the same fate as MICHAEL JACKSON.
Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter has a long history of substance abuse but successfully conquered her demons following several stints in rehab.
The reality star has now opened up about her drug problems in a new interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, revealing at the height of her downward spiral she was taking up to 50 pills a day.
And she is still haunted by the deaths of stars like the late King of Pop, who died from an overdose of prescription painkillers, because she is convinced she was heading down the same tragic path.
In an upcoming episode of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, she says, "At the start I only took one (pill) every weekend. Then it was one every weekday, then two a day, then three. By the end I was taking so many pills I was on my hands and knees vomiting blood because the drug was ripping away my stomach lining. I was taking 50 a day, more than twice the legal dosage, and every day I took one more, hoping I wouldn’t wake up.
"If I hadn’t gone into rehab then, I’m sure I wouldn’t be here now. I feel very lucky because people die every day from taking painkillers like Vicodin, and I was taking much more than them. Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy - the list goes on. But I got a chance to fix my life."

A fashion photographer who is suing LINDSAY LOHAN is struggling to serve the actress with legal papers - a process worker was turned away recently as he tried to present her with the lawsuit during her stay in rehab.
The Mean Girls actress is accused of failing to honour a deal to give snapper Scot Nathan a one per cent share in her clothing line 6126 in exchange for a photoshoot.
He launched legal action against Lohan in April (10) and a process server attempted to visit the troubled star at the Betty Ford Clinic in Rancho Mirage, California earlier this month (17Oct10) - but he was denied access and instead gave the papers to the security guard.
However, the action will not count as court documents cannot be handed to security, reports TMZ.com.
Lohan was sentenced to a further three months of treatment on Friday (22Oct10) for violating her probation after failing two court-ordered drug tests in September (10).
She will remain at the Betty Ford Clinic until at least 3 January (11).

Pregnant pop star LILY ALLEN has patched up her relationship with SIR ELTON JOHN to come out of retirement again - she’s agreed to sing at the star’s annual winter ball next week (beg25Oct10).
The Smile hitmaker, who is currently on a pop hiatus, famously fell out with the Rocket Man after they both appeared at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards in 2008.
Allen then mocked John in her music video for Who’d Have Known, in which she gazes at images of the veteran star, before an Elton lookalike is kidnapped and forced to declare his love for her.
But the pair put their differences behind them last year (09) when Allen designed her own cocktail bar for John’s 2009 ball - and now she has signed up to play a set at this year’s festivities, which takes place next Saturday (30Oct10).
A statement from John and his partner David Furnish reads, "We are thrilled to announce that this year our dear friend Lily Allen will give us an exclusive performance."

Actress EMMA STONE poked fun at LINDSAY LOHAN’s legal troubles in a comedy skit for U.S. TV’s SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE this weekend (23Oct10) when she dressed up as the star and boasted about how she planned to avoid jail.
Lohan has spent the summer (10) in and out of jail and rehab as she battles her drug demons and on Friday (22Oct10), she was sentenced to a further three months of treatment at California’s Betty Ford Clinic for breaking the terms of her probation.
The Mean Girls actress checked into the centre in late September (10) after walking free from a brief stint behind bars for failing two court-ordered drug tests, a violation which could have landed her three months in jail.
And the producers behind hit sketch show Saturday Night Live decided to turn the spotlight on Lohan’s personal problems on Saturday (23Oct10), with Stone portraying the troubled star in a funny segment imitating U.S. talk show The View.
Appearing as the guest star, Stone stumbled onto the set and took a seat at the table, where she was questioned about the possibility of being locked up.
Brushing off the concern, the Zombieland actress said, "I’m way too busy to go to jail. I have a career, I’m gonna tell them that, they’ll totally get it. I have too much going on.
"I’ve got a movie career, a fashion line, I have photo shoots, I’m starting a line of perfume…"

KINGS OF LEON are at the top of the U.K. albums chart after selling more copies of COME AROUND SUNDOWN in its first week than any other release this year (10).
The band scored a new record for digital sales in any album’s opening week after selling 49,000 downloads and 183,000 copies. Come Around Sundown is the rockers’ third number one in the U.K.
British singer Robbie Williams came second with In And Out Of Consciousness, while London rapper Tinie Tempah’s Disc Overy was third and The Beatles came fourth with a new compilation of remastered hits.

Irish singer RONAN KEATING is planning to move his family to Australia following his reconciliation with his wife YVONNE, because he wants a fresh start after overcoming allegations of infidelity.
The Boyzone star separated from his wife of 12 years in May (10) and was subsequently hit by claims he had enjoyed a fling with a dancer on his tour last year (09).
But the couple appears to be taking steps to mend its relationship for the sake of its three children after the pair was spotted holding hands in Sydney, where Keating works as a judge on Australia’s The X Factor TV show.
And the star is planning to relocate Down Under permanently to avoid the glare of the paparazzi, reports Britain’s News of the World.
A source tells the publication, "He feels like a different man in Sydney. Nobody there cares about his relationship or affair. He says the country has put his marriage back on track - it’s helped him and Yvonne fall in love again." Confirming the news, Keating says, "Yeah, I’d love to (move to Australia) and the family will be up for it too."

WEEZER frontman RIVERS CUOMO is set to give fans a glimpse into the band’s recording process by releasing a book about the making of their 1996 album PINKERTON.
The singer has put together The Pinkerton Diaries which documents his life between 1994 and 1997 as the band wrote, recorded and released the popular disc.
Cuomo insists the tome will give devotees "an inside look as to exactly what I was thinking".
He tells Spin, "(It’s) a collection of all my journals, emails, letters, photos, school papers, everything from those years ‘94-’97." The book is due for release next month (Nov10).

Singer BERNIE NOLAN is celebrating beating breast cancer by baring all on the West End stage.
The Nolans star was diagnosed with the disease in April (10), but she has now been given the all-clear after completing months of chemotherapy treatment.
And the singer is planning to mark her return to full health by performing in a London stage version of Helen Mirren’s movie Calendar Girls.
The I’m In The Mood For Dancing hitmaker will have to appear naked in the show, revealing the scars from her surgery - but Nolan insists she’s happy to show off the marks.
She tells Britain’s News of the World tabloid, "You couldn’t make it up that this would be my first role. I was due to appear in it before I was diagnosed so I’m delighted they still want me.
"I will be on stage naked, but from the back, so people will see my scar. I don’t mind though. I’m really proud."

SIMON COWELL is on "a break" from his fiancee MEZHGAN HUSSAINY, according to the music mogul’s mum, who insists the couple became engaged too quickly.
Cowell proposed to the make-up artist earlier this year (10), but Julie Cowell has now sparked speculation over the state of the relationship, revealing Hussainy is currently living in Los Angeles while Cowell is in Britain working on U.K. show The X Factor.
And the 85 year old insists the break will give the pair a chance to think things through before committing to marriage.
She tells Britain’s Mail On Sunday, "It’s a break at the moment. The problem with Simon is that he works so hard. She’s gone to America which, in a way, is a good thing because of Simon’s work. At the moment it isn’t a good idea for her to be here. She doesn’t know many people in London.
"If you are Simon’s girlfriend, let’s be honest about this, you are not going to see very much of him. It’s very difficult for a girl to accept that. He doesn’t want anyone sitting in his dressing room when he’s working. Sometimes these girls want to be there too much.
"They are on good terms and I’m sure are in regular contact. Simon remains friends with all his ex-girlfriends. I think (the engagement) was too quick. This might give them the break they need to think it through. Marriage is a very, very big step." A representative for Cowell insists the couple is "very much together" and reveals Hussainy is due to visit the TV star in the U.K. within the next week.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 is scaring up a treat in the U.S. in the run-up to Halloween - it has broken box office records by scoring the biggest three-day opening for a horror film, grossing $41.5 million (£27.7 million).
The thrilling sequel debuted at number one, stealing the title from Friday the 13th, which earned $40.6 million (£27 million) when it opened last year (09).
The success of the documentary-style Paranormal Activity 2 bumps outrageous stunt movie Jackass 3D into second place with $21.6 million (£14.4 million). Its 10-day total now stands at $87.1 million (£58 million).
Bruce Willis’ action release RED is at three ($15 million/£10 million), while Matt Damon’s supernatural film Hereafter, directed by Clint Eastwood, enters the countdown at four with $12 million (£8 million).
The Social Network rounds out the top five in fifth place.

SIR ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER is breathing a sigh of relief after learning an historic English castle he had offered to buy has now been saved from closure.
The Phantom of the Opera composer, whose estimated worth is approximately $1.1 billion, launched a bid for Highclere Castle in Berkshire, England after its owners announced they faced closure because they needed $17.6 million (£11.8 million) for repairs.
The owner of the stately home, Lord Carnarvon, had planned to build houses on the sprawling estate to finance the property and snubbed Lloyd Webber’s offer, insisting it was "not for sale", blasting him for making an "unsolicited offer".
But Lloyd Webber has cancelled his plans to try and take over the property now that it is to be saved in a restoration project, thanks to British TV show Downtown Abbey.
And the theatre impresario is pleased with the outcome.
He tells Britain’s Sunday Express, "May I express my joy and relief that the success of the series Downtown Abbey has led the Earl of Carnarvon to announce that its ’star’, Sir Charles Barry’s wonderful Highclere Castle, has been saved. I, along with the Highclere Society and the North Wessex Downs Preservation Society, was concerned when the Earl proposed to develop housing in swathes of the north Hampshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
"My concern for the area combined with my love of architecture was behind my interest in exploring whether the castle, which is not lived in, could ­possibly become a publicly accessed long-term home for my art collection.
"Now it has emerged that the ­television series will generate enough income to save the castle and, ­presumably, the proposed development need not take place. This is truly a ­fantastic outcome."

HARRY POTTER star DAWN FRENCH is putting the breakdown of her 25-year marriage to British comedian LENNY HENRY firmly behind her by stepping out on the dating scene again.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG was so disturbed by her "insanely sad" role in TYLER PERRY’s new drama FOR COLORED GIRLS, she demanded no one on set call her by her character’s name.
The Sister Act star plays religious zealot Alice in the film, based on Ntozake Shange’s award-winning play, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.
And she admits it was "tough" to leave her character’s demons on set when the day was through.
She says, "On the set the ADs (assistant directors) and guys who would tell you what time to come to set would call you by your character’s names, and I would say, ‘Do not do that, because this woman is crazy like a bedbug.’ She’s not pleasant. She’s crazy and scary and insanely sad."

British actor SIMON PEGG faced one of the most difficult decisions of his life when he chose to snub a role in QUENTIN TARANTINO’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS.
The Star Trek star was overjoyed when the famed director personally reached out to offer him the part of Archie Hicox in the 2009 film.
But Pegg was devastated when he realised his lead role in Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn was scheduled to shoot at the same time as Tarantino’s project.
The actor had to choose between the two films and he eventually turned down the chance to star opposite Brad Pitt and Diane Kruger in Inglourious Basterds. The part eventually went to Michael Fassbender - and Pegg is still reeling over the tough decision.
He tells Britain’s News of the World, "It was a horrible decision to make. I remember sitting on my own in a hotel room for an hour, having to decide which one to do. It was agony."

GLEE stars MARK SALLING and CHORD OVERSTREET have been offered $100,000 (£66,667) to pose for raunchy women’s magazine Playgirl.
Bosses at the publication want the two young actors to follow in the footsteps of their female co-stars Dianna Agron and Lea Michele, who have posed scantily-clad for the latest issue of men’s magazine GQ.
And they are offering the pair a massive $100,000 (£66,667) pay cheque to strip off for the publication, which has previously seen stars including Brad Pitt and Keith Urban undress for sexy photoshoots.
A representative for the magazine says, "We would be very willing to pay for them both - up to $100,000. And it wouldn’t have to be fully X-rated, either." The news comes just days after officials at the Parents Television Council fiercely criticised Agron and Michele for posing as sexy cheerleaders in the new GQ spread, branding the photographs borderline "paedophilia".

Former British Prime Minister MARGARET THATCHER is recovering at home following a stint in hospital earlier this week (beg18Oct10).
The ‘Iron Lady’ was forced to pull out of her 85th birthday party at her former residence, 10 Downing Street in London, earlier this month (13Oct10) because she was too ill to attend.
Thatcher then sparked further fears for her health when she was taken to Cromwell Hospital in the British capital on Tuesday (18Oct10) as a "precautionary measure".
But her spokesperson has now revealed she is resting at home and is showing signs of improvement.
The rep says, "She is a lot brighter, sitting up in a chair in her own room." Concerns for Thatcher’s health have escalated following a number of strokes. She broke her arm in a fall at her home last year (09).

Actress NATALIE PORTMAN has reportedly upset her father with her portrayal of a lesbian ballerina in new thriller BLACK SWAN, because he deems the explicit sex scenes as "degrading".
The Star Wars beauty plays troubled dancer Nina in the upcoming Darren Aronofsky movie, which sees the actress engage in raunchy love scenes with co-star Mila Kunis.
But the same-sex romance has driven a wedge between Portman and her conservative father, Dr. Avner Hershlag, who disapproves of her latest career move, according to Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper.
A source tells the publication, "Natalie is a very private and dignified person and is often influenced by her father’s approval.
"This, however, was one role she simply didn’t want to turn down even though she knew it would upset her father. He still sees her as his baby and always will and thinks showing herself like this is degrading.
"Things are very frosty between them right now."
