BONO LOST IN DOWNING STREET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:10 pm

U2 frontman BONO once "got lost" at the residence of the British Prime Minister following a boozy dinner with former leader TONY BLAIR.
The rocker was invited to Number 10 Downing Street while Blair was in office to discuss politics over dinner and drinks.
Bono admits he indulged in a "few" glasses of wine and when Blair left the table to take an emergency phone call, the singer walked away and ended up wandering the corridors of the building in a confused state.
He says, "So I’m wandering through No. 10 and I got lost. It’s a labyrinth. I’m walking into rooms, looking at pictures on the wall of (former British prime minister) David Lloyd George, who divided Ireland under threat of war. I thought how far have two countries come when the Irish rock star can wander through No. 10 unaccompanied. I should have taken a portrait of Lloyd!"

THE BEACH BOYS have come under fire from fans after they were accused of miming at a high-profile concert in Australia on Saturday night (23Oct10).
The band, which includes founding member Mike Love, headlined the inaugural Gold Coast 600 concert in conjunction with V8 Supercars in Queensland, playing to more than 20,000 devotees.
But many are said to have left the Southport Parklands venue before the end of the show, with some accusing the band of lip-syncing their set.
One disgruntled concert-goer tells Sky News, "The Beach Boys were a fraud, they were miming everything. You could tell they weren’t even singing, he (Love) was barely even moving." But V8 Supercars Chief Operating Officer Shane Howard has defended the group’s performance, saying, "They really put the crowd in a great frame of mind to end the night. NEWTON AGREES TO STAY AWAY FROM TAYLOR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:08 pm

Australian actor MATTHEW NEWTON has signed a consent order which will ban him from contacting his former fiancee, TRANSFORMERS star RACHAEL TAYLOR.
Taylor broke off the engagement over the summer (10) and her lawyers later went to court in Sydney to apply for an apprehended violence order (AVO) against the star.
The papers revealed Taylor had accused Newton of several "unprovoked violent assaults" during a vacation in Europe in August (10).
A court granted a temporary order to keep the pair apart last month (Sep10) and now magistrates in Sydney have officially sanctioned the AVO, which will see Newton jailed for up to two years if he breaches the terms of the agreement.
Newton will be prevented from approaching or contacting Taylor unless it is through lawyers. He is also banned from entering buildings where she lives or works and from approaching her family.
Newton’s lawyer, Christopher Murphy, confirmed his client had signed "a consent order without admissions to the complaint".
Speaking outside the Sydney court, Taylor told reporters, "I’m enormously humbled by the support that I’ve had. Today was a first and necessary step. I’m very happy to be spending more time in Sydney safely."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:08 pm

Embattled American football star BRETT FAVRE has reportedly faced officials at the National Football League and admitted leaving raunchy voicemails for a female reporter, but denied sending her any explicit photos.
The married Minnesota Vikings player hit headlines earlier this month (Oct10) over allegations he texted pictures of his penis to former New York Jets employee Jenn Sterger when he was the team’s quarterback in 2008.
National Football League officials have been investigating the allegations and if Favre is found to have violated player conduct policies, he could face suspension and fines.
He is said to have met with the NFL’s vice president of security, Milt Ahlerich, last Tuesday (19Oct10) and denied sending any X-rated pictures to Sterger, although he allegedly admitted leaving voicemail messages on her cellphone, according to Fox Television’s Jay Glazer.
Sterger’s manager, Phil Reese, tells the New York Post she is considering co-operating with the NFL investigation.
He says, "She is strongly considering it, leaning toward it. We’re currently in the fact-gathering stage…"

NEW ZEALANDERS RALLY FOR THE HOBBIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:07 pm

A series of rallies have been held in New Zealand to protest against movie bosses’ plans to find a new location for upcoming blockbuster THE HOBBIT.
Director Peter Jackson was due to film the Lord Of The Rings prequel in the country next year (11), but producers are currently scouting for new locations after a dispute with local actors’ unions.
Production on the movie was thrown into jeopardy when union bosses in New Zealand instigated a boycott of The Hobbit after failing to agree work terms for local performers.
The ban has since been lifted, but the dispute soured relations with movie bosses who remain determined to move the shoot away from New Zealand.
Now thousands of supporters have taken to the streets in the country to demonstrate against plans to relocate The Hobbit, with protests taking place in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Queenstown and Matamata.
Oscar-winning special effects expert Richard Taylor read a letter from Jackson at the demonstration in Wellington, in which the director voiced his support for filming in New Zealand.
The letter read, "This is where Middle Earth was born and this is where it will stay." Monday’s (25Oct10) rallies are said to have been timed to coincide with the arrival of executives from the Warner Bros. movie studio, who will fly into New Zealand on Tuesday (26Oct10) for final talks about the film’s location.
Hundreds of protesters dressed as characters from the film series and many held up banners with the messages, "New Zealand is Middle Earth" and "We Love Hobbits." Filming on the two-part epic, which will feature British actor Martin Freeman in the lead role of Bilbo Baggins, is due to begin in February (11).

PATTINSON EXPLAINS COWELL SNUB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:19 am

TWILIGHT star ROBERT PATTINSON turned down a lucrative record deal with SIMON COWELL because he was convinced no one would like his music.
The actor, who plays guitar and piano, and composes his own songs, has rejected offers from several major music companies and admits former American Idol judge Cowell was desperate to recruit him for his own firm.
But Pattinson insists he wouldn’t fit in with the reality TV star’s talent roster - because Cowell only works with artists who are popular with the public.
He says, "I love Simon, I think he is a great personality and I think his shows are entertaining. He is a clever guy and he created artists that he knows the public will like, that’s why I don’t think he could ever launch my music career.
"I am selfish with my music. I get my guitar and I play what I like, but the problem is I don’t think many other people would like it." But Pattinson is confident his music will be appreciated someday, adding: "I am sure I’ll be one of those artists that people don’t pay any attention to while I’m alive, and when I am dead people will go yeah, man, that was a work of art."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:19 am

WILL SMITH has banned his young daughter WILLOW from reading critics’ reviews of her debut single WHIP MY HAIR - because he doesn’t want negative comments tainting her venture into the pop industry.
The nine year old has won praise for her catchy new song since unveiling the track last month (Sep10), but she admits her dad is still shielding her from the harsh comments made by some detractors online.
Willow Smith tells news show Access Hollywood, "Whenever I’m on (video-sharing website) YouTube trying to look at my song to show my friends, he’s like covering the comments and I’m like, ‘Dad, what’s wrong?’ And he’s like, ‘Nothing, it’s just there’s people out there who really don’t like it.’"

GELDOF IN FASHION MIX-UP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

BOB GELDOF’s wildchild daughter PEACHES was left red-faced recently after she and her pals left a nightclub with coats belonging to other revellers.
The absent-minded socialite went home with an armful of strangers’ overcoats after enjoying a night out with her friends at London’s trendy Chinawhite nightclub.
But a spokesperson for Geldof has dismissed the incident as an innocent mistake.
The representative says, "It was a simple mix-up. The coats were picked up by another member of the party who thought they were the group’s as they looked very similar.
"It wasn’t until they got home that they realised they had the wrong ones, which were taken back the next day."

DONOVAN: ‘KIDS SAVED ME FROM DRUGS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

Australian singer JASON DONOVAN has credited his children with saving his life, because fatherhood helped him turn his back on drugs for good.
The pop star struggled with a cocaine addiction in the 1990s, but gave up the drug in 2000 when he welcomed his daughter Jemma with his partner, Angela Malloch.
The former Neighbours actor, who is also dad to nine-year-old son, Zach, and expecting another child in March (11), is adamant he would not be alive if he hadn’t become a father.
He says, "Having children saved me from drugs. I saw a ‘get out’ moment and took it. They are the reason I’m here.
"People have moments in their lives when they can change. If you don’t embrace those moments, you can spend your life in darkness."
