PILEGGI CONFIRMS GOODFELLAS TV SERIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:22 pm

MARTIN SCORSESE and NICHOLAS PILEGGI are revisiting their gangster classic GOODFELLAS for a prequel TV series about the early life of mobster HENRY HILL.
Rumours circulated last month (Sep10) that a TV version of the hit 1990 movie is in the works following the success of new U.S. crime drama Boardwalk Empire, which launched earlier this year (10) with a Scorsese-directed episode.
Now Pileggi - who wrote Wiseguy, the book on which Goodfellas is based, and worked on the film’s screenplay with Scorsese - has confirmed he and the director are planning a TV series linked to the movie.
The storyline is likely to focus on the early life of Hill, who was played by Ray Liotta in the film, as many of the characters in Goodfellas are dead by the end of the movie.
Pileggi tells Britain’s Culture magazine, "We’re trying (to develop the TV series). I want to do it, Marty wants to do it, Warner Bros wants to do it. Of course, you can’t pick up from Goodfellas, since we murdered everybody, or rather, everybody was murdered! There’s nobody left.
"But I think we’re going to figure out a way to do the early years - sort of a prequel. The part of the movie people often like best is the opening third, where all the funny stuff is happening, and there’s so much we could fit in."

CATTRALL’S REGRETS OVER ROMANCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:25 pm

SEX AND THE CITY star KIM CATTRALL regrets losing her virginity at the age of 15 - because it ruined her love life for years.
The actress has confessed she first had sex with a man while she was still a schoolgirl, but was left disappointed because the experience was so underwhelming.
And it affected her relationships for years to come - she always expected a let down when she bedded a new boyfriend.
Cattrall tells Britain’s The Sun, "I should not have had sex so young. I lost my virginity at 15 and thought: ‘Is that it?’. I was not ready for the experience.
"It set a pattern after that. I was not expecting a great deal from sex - and I did not get it either. I would have been better to discuss sex with girlfriends - and I think girls are more open today.
"No one really tells you how to do sex. I remember reading the Kama Sutra, but could not really understand it… I separated love from sex. Or just thought sex would lead to love. It did not, of course."

JACKSON ‘NOT ENGAGED’ TO ARAB BUSINESSMAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

JANET JACKSON has dismissed reports she’s engaged to her wealthy Arab businessman boyfriend WISSAM AL MANA.
The Nasty hitmaker split from her longtime partner, producer Jermaine Dupri, last summer (09) after seven years of dating.
Her new romance with the billionaire industrialist became public earlier this year (10) and recent reports suggested the new couple was already making plans to wed.
But the singer appeared on U.S. breakfast programme Good Morning America on Monday (25Oct10), dismissing the claims.
She said, "He’s a very, very private man so I don’t talk about our relationship but I really think it’s important that I just say this: they’ve (the press) been trying to marry me off for a very, very long time. But I’m not engaged so I will say that."

SIR ELTON DITCHED DIVA DEMANDS AFTER DOCUMENTARY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

SIR ELTON JOHN is glad his irrational mood-swings were exposed in notorious documentary TANTRUMS AND TIARAS - because he vowed to change his ways after watching himself onscreen.
The full extent of the Rocket Man’s outlandish demands were revealed in the 1997 fly-on-the-wall film, when he was seen exploding with rage when a fan waved at him as he played tennis and screaming at assistants during a photoshoot.
The singer came in for harsh criticism for his behaviour after the programme aired in his native U.K. - but he’s adamant he was pleased with the documentary because it forced him to become a nicer person.
He tells Britain’s Daily Telegraph, "I hate watching things about myself. But that I could watch all the time because it’s so honest… I did laugh. But having looked at it and learnt from it, I thought, I can’t continue to behave like that. It’s just not worth the aggravation to everyone else, or to me."

OSBOURNE RELATED TO VESUVIUS SURVIVORS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

Rock wildman OZZY OSBOURNE has discovered how he managed to survive 40 years of drink and drug abuse - he’s descended from Romans who lived through the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
The former Black Sabbath frontman has undergone complicated DNA testing for research scientists to map out his entire genetic make-up.
Experts were then able to use his profile to determine his possible ancestors - and the rocker discovered he is related to legendary U.S. outlaw Jesse James and Romans who survived the Vesuvius eruption in the year 79 AD.
Ozzy tells the Sunday Times Magazine, "I was curious. Given the swimming pools of booze I’ve guzzled over the years - not to mention all the cocaine, morphine, sleeping pills, cough syrup, LSD, Rohypnol… you name it - there’s really no plausible medical reason why I should still be alive. Maybe my DNA could say why…
"Apparently (I’m) a distant relation of Henry ‘Skip’ Gates, a big-deal Harvard professor and a mate of President Obama… Other members of my extended family include the original Jesse James, the last Russian Tsar, and King George I… Speaking of dead relatives, it also turns out that I share some DNA with the people killed in Pompeii when Mount Vesuvius blew its top in AD79…
"That means I’m also probably related to some of the survivors. Which makes a lot of sense: if any of the Roman Osbournes drank nearly as much as I used to, they wouldn’t have even felt the lava. They could have just walked it off."

WARHOL PAINTING EXPECTED TO FETCH $50 MILLION AT AUCTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

An iconic painting by late pop artist ANDY WARHOL is expected to fetch up to $50 million (£33.3 million) when it goes on the auction block next month (Nov10).
Christie’s auction house is set to sell off Warhol’s Big Campbell’s Soup Can with Can Opener (Vegetable), a 1962 painting currently owned by Seattle art collector Barney Ebsworth.
Auctioneers expect to fetch the multi-million dollar sum because only 11 large-scale soup-can paintings are in existence, and all but three are held by museums.
A spokesperson for Christie’s tells the New York Post, "It’s an incredibly important, very iconic work. When he painted the soup can picture… it changed the course of art history. No one had seen anyone do anything like this."
