Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:10 pm

A thug who slashed British rapper PROFESSOR GREEN’s throat with a broken bottle is facing a "very substantial" jail sentence after he was convicted of the attack.
Anthony Jones, 25, lashed out at the star during a bust-up at London’s Cargo nightclub last year (09).
The rapper - real name Stephen Manderson - was left with blood gushing from a large wound to his neck, and told Snaresbrook Crown Court last week (begs18Oct10) he feared he would die from the attack.
Jones denied wounding with intent but was convicted by a jury on Monday (25Oct10). Judge John Lafferty warned him he is facing a lengthy prison term when he is sentenced next month (Nov10).

WALLACE AND GROMIT HUMOUR LOST IN TRANSLATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:10 pm

The creator of WALLACE AND GROMIT has opened up about the Plasticine pair’s failed Hollywood bid, insisting a language barrier killed the movie deal.
Animator Nick Park and Aardman Animations, the firm behind Wallace and Gromit, had signed a contract with executives at DreamWorks production company to release five films starring the ‘claymation’ characters.
But the agreement fell apart in 2007 after three films - and Park blames American studio bosses for failing to understand his British humour.
He tells Britain’s Radio Times, "There is a language barrier that often happens with humour. Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit was going to be called The Great Vegetable Plot but market research didn’t like it.
"The verdict was that vegetables are a negative with kids, but of course that’s why it’s good and works. That’s how Wallace and Gromit works. It was elevating the uncool and mundane to something big in Hollywood. That’s the irony." And Park admits the stress of the industry prompted him to hand over more control to Aardman’s creative director Merlin Crossingham.
He adds: "As a control freak you just can’t lose control and therefore the stress levels are high. It takes its toll. It’s the industry side that burns you out and the creativity that builds you up. That’s part of the reason I’ve stepped back a little and Merlin has taken over."

OLYMPIC ROWER HOLMES DIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:09 pm

British Olympic gold medallist ANDY HOLMES has died, aged 51.
The rowing champion, who won two gold medals alongside professional partner Sir Steve Redgrave, passed away on Sunday (24Oct10) after contracting a rare waterborne disease.
The sportsman, who became a dad for the fifth time last month (Sep10), died at London’s Kings College Hospital of Weil’s disease, which is caught from river water contaminated with the urine of infected animals.
Redgrave has paid tribute to Holmes in a statement, saying, "It’s a very sad day. Andy was a fantastic athlete and a brilliant guy. British success in rowing has come from the 1980s. Andy was at the forefront. This (disease) is something most rowers know about. But it is very rare that anything happens." GOSLING: ‘MICKEY MOUSE CLUB WAS DEPRESSING’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:21 am

RYAN GOSLING was "disheartened" by his early showbiz experiences on THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB - because he didn’t feel as talented as his co-stars JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and BRITNEY SPEARS.
The actor sang, danced and acted on the now-defunct variety TV show alongside fellow Mouseketeers Timberlake, Spears and Christina Aguilera.
But he admits he struggled to live up to his castmates’ performances and was left hurt when they were favoured by producers.
He tells Interview magazine, "It was kind of depressing because when I got there, they realised that I wasn’t really up to snuff in comparison with what some of the other kids were able to do. I remember one time they put four of us in a dance routine, but I was so off. I was on the end, so they just pushed the shot in closer on the other three guys to frame me out.
"I would just come in at the beginning of the show and then come back at the end, and occasionally I’d have a sketch here or there, but I didn’t end up working that much, which was disheartening."

LONGORIA PARKER’S REP FIRES BACK AT CRASH CLAIMS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:19 am

A representative for EVA LONGORIA PARKER has dismissed allegations from an angry driver who blamed the actress for a car accident last week (20Oct10).
Roman Gasparyan has threatened to sue the Desperate Housewives star, claiming he suffered back and neck pains after they were involved in a traffic collision in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (20Oct10).
But Longoria Parker’s spokesperson is adamant the star is not at fault.
The rep tells TMZ.com, "According to the police report, the other driver was clearly at fault AND admitted to fault at the scene of the accident. Longoria’s eyes were NOT red and bloodshot.
"There is absolutely no truth to this claim, and any indications to the contrary are completely false and untrue. Longoria made no sudden turn, did not violate any traffic violations (sic) nor did she make any sudden lane changes. The other driver is clearly trying to make a case where there is none. All charges are frivolous, without merit, and will not hold up in a court of law."

THRIFTY CHURCH ‘SKIMPED’ ON VIDEO COSTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

CHARLOTTE CHURCH "skimped" on costs for her latest music video - because she had already blown her budget recording her album.
The singer launched her own label Dooby Records, named after her children Dexter and Ruby, so she could be in charge of making Back To Scratch, her first offering in five years - but she underestimated how expensive making music can be.
Speaking on Britain’s The One Show, Church explains, "It was out of choice (to fund the release), but it’s a scary option definitely. It was the only way in which I could have complete creative control to really make music that I wanted to make. I’ve been in this industry for a while now and I just thought, it’s come to that point. But I was way over, way over (the budget).
"To be honest, it’s a ridiculous amount (to make) a decent video. Absolutely ridiculous - six figures for a decent video. But I skimped."
