PARANORMAL ACTIVITY star MICAH SLOAT overcomes his fear of upsetting the spirit world by cursing out spectres and demons in the horror film franchise by stating he’s an actor playing a role before every scene.
The movie star admits he’s always nervous before scenes with ouija boards, crucifixes and other symbols of black magic and demon worship - because he feels spirits are far from happy with what they see.
But he tries to avoid fabled curses that have haunted the sets and cast of horror classics Poltergeist and The Exorcist by stating his true intent before the scene.
He tells WENN, "The primary thing is the ouija board stuff and burning crosses and cursing out invisible spirits. In general it’s not the best thing to do.
"I feel protected by the character in a sense that if I was doing that on a personal level I think I would feel that fear, but, being an actor gives you permission, in the spirit world, to do things that you otherwise shouldn’t be doing.
"I obviously don’t know if that’s true, but I’m still here."

A scene from CHARLIE CHAPLIN’s silent movie THE CIRCUS has sparked a time-travel mystery among fans after one extra appears to be chatting on a mobile phone.
The clip from the 1928 film has been posted online by Irish filmmaker George Clarke and begs the question did someone travel back in time to appear outside Grauman�s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, while Chaplin was shooting the movie? The woman in the scene is holding a black object to her ear and appears to be talking into it.
Clarke insists the video has not been manipulated in any way and he has consulted with experts about his find, which he has posted on YouTube.com for fans to check out.
The filmmaker has concluded the woman walking through the scene is from another era.

JAMIE FOXX is preparing to scare U.S. TV audiences - he’s writing and producing a star-studded horror series co-hosted by DENISE RICHARDS and his rumoured girlfriend STACEY DASH.
Foxx and business partner Deon Taylor will co-executive produce Night Tales, a horror anthology series based on 2008 TV movie Nite Tales: The Movie.
The pair has already co-written and co-directed the pilot and several half-hour episodes, featuring guest spots from rapper Method Man, funnyman Tom Arnold and actor Jason Mewes.
A network is not yet attached to the series but Taylor insists the scary show won’t be restricted to adult audiences.
He tells Variety, "Some of them (the episodes) will be very, very horrified (sic), and others will be more supernatural. But they’re all (rated) PG (parental guidance suggested); there won’t be any superbloody things happening to people."

RANDY QUAID and his wife EVI have been released from an immigration holding centre in Vancouver, Canada.
The Brokeback Mountain star was freed after posting a $10,000 (£6,700) bond, reports TMZ.com.
His wife received an "unconditional release" after Immigration and Refugee Board officials discovered her father was born in Canada.
The Quaids, who have been behind bars since Friday (22Oct10), were being held on a California warrant issued after they failed to show up for an arraignment on 18 October (10) to face felony vandalism charges.
The couple was caught allegedly squatting in a Montecito home they once owned.
The pair requested asylum in Canada, claiming their lives were "in danger" in the U.S.

MILEY CYRUS’ parents are getting divorced after 17 years of marriage.
Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have both cited irreconcilable differences in their papers, which were filed in Tennessee on Wednesday (27Oct10).
The couple has five kids.
A joint statement from the Cyruses reads, "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."

JANE FONDA turned her back on Hollywood for 15 years because the menopause left her feeling "so unhappy" she couldn’t act.
The movie icon admits she couldn’t act feeling as low as she did, so she decided to step out of the spotlight and concentrate on becoming an activist and a good wife to her then-husband, TV mogul Ted Turner.
In a candid TV chat with pal Oprah Winfrey, which aired on TV in America on Wednesday (27Oct10), Fonda explained, "I felt so awful as a woman and I can’t be creative if I feel bad, so I just said, ‘I’m gonna leave Hollywood and be an environmental activist full time,’ and then Ted came along." Looking back, the Barbarella star realises she was experiencing the menopause: "I thought, ‘Well, if it’s hormonal I’d have hot flashes… It’s a really, really hard time; you have the hormonal shifts and you’re not quite sure who you are anymore or what you’re supposed to become and I basically was having a nervous breakdown.
"I couldn’t speak above a whisper, I couldn’t eat, I had to walk very slowly, I had to listen to very soft, soothing music… I was very very vulnerable."

The Stronger hitmaker finished fifth on the AskMen.com survey, behind computer boffins Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and Facebook.com founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Comedian and TV personality Jon Stewart topped the list after more than 500,000 votes were compiled.
President Barack Obama, who topped the annual list in 2008, came in 21st.

New mum ALICIA KEYS has opened up about the joy of motherhood, insisting she spends hours just staring at her "most perfect" son EGYPT.
The Fallin’ singer gave birth to her first child earlier this month (14Oct10) and Keys admits she’s fascinated by the new addition to her family because she can’t believe the "miracle" she has created.
In a post on her official blog, she writes, "I’m most enamored with anatomy at this point. The miracle of the human body. The ability to create all these small amazing machines of veins, capillaries, digestive systems, eyes, ears and noses.
"I can spend HOURS looking at one little EAR! Have u ever noticed how complex just an ear is? A tiny maze of art. It may sound silly but it’s so true. Or a heartbeat? Everyday we wake up and in some way, take for granted the fact that this beautiful pulsating organ in our body is the reason (we’re alive), and yet now that’s all I can think of.
"I’ve never seen a more beautiful face in my LIFE! The most perfect eyes and beautiful nose, the sweetest lips and skin so soft and kissable! Never have I felt such disbelief, such awe, humility, godliness, such strength, power and possibility." And Keys admits the little boy is already inspiring new music: "I’ve never believed in greatness and the never ending Higher Power more than now! And I can’t believe he’s mine! Oooh! I feel a song coming on…"

Outspoken former model PAULINA PORIZKOVA has taken aim at NICOLE KIDMAN for refusing to age gracefully.
The Aussie actress has never confirmed reports she has undergone cosmetic surgery - but Porizkova insists it’s obvious she has had work done, and it’s depressing that such a beauty had to go to such extremes.
Appearing on U.S. news show Access Hollywood Live on Wednesday (27Oct10), the retired model-turned-fashion blogger, 45, targetted Kidman for messing with perfection.
She raged, "She annoys me because I think that she was one of the most beautiful women ever and one of the greatest actresses; I really looked up to her.
"And when you start doing this (cosmetic surgery) to what already is beautiful… I guess that kind of insecurity really disheartens me because it makes me feel like, ‘Well then, what about me? If you’re so beautiful and you’re so perfect and you need to change that to a different kind of perfection, where does that leave the rest of us?’" Porizkova now urges Kidman to do the honest thing and let the public know her looks aren’t all her own: "When it’s so obvious - when you grow that big mouth… - why not admit to it." The ex-model insists she has never gone under the knife - but, like so many aging beauties, she often considers it.
She adds, "I do nothing. I’ve done laser treatments, but I count that as nothing as technically it leaves you looking exactly the same… I’ve definitely had the desire (to remove wrinkles) and I battle with that desire on a daily basis because nothing ages as poorly as a beautiful woman’s ego.
"I don’t like to see it (youthful look) going away and I don’t like this dragging down (of the face), and developing jowls and this weird neck thing, but it’s age. At some point I’ve got to face it."

Country duo SUGARLAND have stunned album chart watchers in the U.S. by beating KINGS OF LEON to the top of the Billboard 200.
The act’s The Incredible Machine has debuted at the top of the countdown with an impressive 203,000 sales - almost 20,000 more than Kings of Leon’s Come Around Sundown, which debuts at two.
The Incredible Machine is Sugarland’s third number one album.
Kings of Leon are hardly weeping - 184,000 sales gives them their highest charting album and best sales week ever.
Their previous best, Only By the Night, debuted at five in 2008 with 74,000 sales and peaked at four almost a year later.
Old pals Elton John and Rod Stewart also make a dent in the top five - Elton’s collaborative album with Leon Russell, The Union, debuts at three, while Stewart’s Fly Me To The Moon is a new entry at four.
Rapper Lil Wayne’s former chart-topper I Am Not a Human Being rounds out the new top five.
Also debuting in the top 10 are Glee: the Rocky Horror Glee Show soundtrack, Shakira’s new Spanish language album, Sale El Sol and Third Day.

Reformed rockers DEVO have scrapped the remainder of their 2010 tour to allow guitarist BOB MOTHERSBAUGH time to recover from "a serious hand injury".
The Whip It hitmaker severed a tendon in his right thumb after falling onto broken glass - and he is now unable to perform.
A band statement reads, "DEVO deeply regret that they have had to postpone all of their upcoming live dates for 2010 due to a serious hand injury sustained by guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh.
"A glass shard sliced Mothersbaughâ��s right thumb to the bone, severing a tendon. He underwent immediate emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery after proper care and therapy." All DEVO’s upcoming 2010 dates will be rescheduled for next spring (11) with dates to be announced.
Bandmates Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale are still expected to attend Moogfest in Asheville, North Carolina, where they’ll accept the Moog Innovation Award, on Friday (29Oct10).

ENTOURAGE star JEREMY PIVEN has joined the all-star cast of the fourth SPY KIDS movie - as the villainous Timekeeper.
The actor joins Jessica Alba, Joel McHale, Antonio Banderas and newly wed Alexa Vega in the new 3D film, which will be shot on location in Texas by director Robert Rodriguez.
In Spy Kids 4: All The Time In The World, Alba’s new mum character Marissa Cortez Wilson, a retired secret agent, her television reporter husband Wilbur (McHale) and her stepkids.
Workaholic Rodriguez, who also penned the script for the new film, will also serve as his own director of photography, editor and visual effects supervisor.
The record-breaking Spy Kids franchise has collectively grossed over $450 million (GBP300 million) worldwide.

A Los Angeles photographer has filed a request for a restraining order against reality TV star TILA TEQUILA amid allegations she kidnapped his girlfriend and threatened to kill him.
Photographer Garry Sun has filed papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming the former internet pin-up and four armed men drove to the Texas house of his alleged girlfriend, Shyla Jennings, kidnapped her and flew her to Los Angeles.
Sun claims Tila then threatened to kill Jennings and her ex if she called police.
A judge has not ruled on the restraining order, but Tequila’s lawyer has promptly responded to the allegations, calling them "patently absurd" and accusing Sun of filing the suit to "get back at (Tila)" after he was fired from his role on her website.
The lawyer tells TMZ.com, "(Sun) will undoubtedly be held accountable by appropriate authorities for making these false allegations."

TRUE BLOOD star RYAN KWANTEN has a killer new role - he’s signed up to play cult leader CHARLES MANSON.
The Australian actor is gearing up to play the convicted killer in the as-yet-untitled project, which will be directed by Brad Anderson.
Manson is serving a life prison sentence for seven counts of murder and one of conspiracy to murder after co-ordinating a killing spree in the late 1960s as the leader of the Manson Family.
