Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:13 pm

DARYL HANNAH’s parents considered having her "institutionalised" when she suffered a breakdown in the wake of their divorce.
The Splash star grew up in Illinois with her mother Susan Wexler and her father Don Hannah, but her childhood was marred by her parents’ split, which left her devastated from an early age.
Hannah admits she suffered behavioural problems as a child because the divorce left her with "a disconnected sense of reality", and she reveals her parents took her to a specialist doctor who recommended she receive intensive psychological treatment.
She tells the Biography channel’s Celebrity Ghost Stories show, "I wasn’t communicative and wasn’t behaving like the rest of the kids. They thought I needed to be on some kind of serious treatment plan, and I should probably be institutionalised."

SERKIS RELIEVED THE HOBBIT WILL REMAIN IN NEW ZEALAND

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:12 pm

LORD OF THE RINGS star ANDY SERKIS is "delighted" THE HOBBIT will be filmed in New Zealand after a unions dispute was resolved - because a move would have been devastating for the country’s film industry.
All three of Peter Jackson’s previous fantasy epics were filmed in the country, but plans to shoot the upcoming prequel there were thrown into jeopardy when local actors’ unions instigated a boycott of the movie.
Studio bosses threatened to relocate the picture to another country in a bid to avoid any further trouble, sparking mass demonstrations from supporters in New Zealand who wanted to see the franchise remain in its original home.
Relations between film bosses and the unions were finally mended this week (beg25Oct10) and The Hobbit will go into production in New Zealand as planned in February (11).
And Serkis, who plays Gollum in the film series, admits he was relieved to hear the dispute has been settled.
He says, "I’m delighted. It’s where it should be, it’s where it was meant to be and a lot of the people wanted to see those stories being made and told in that place and it would have been a shame to have done it anywhere else.
"The film industry in New Zealand has really burgeoned through that process of making Lord Of The Rings and Peter Jackson was very much at the front of that, and everyone involved with the production would have been very upset to have seen it set anywhere else."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

Actress JULIANNE MOORE is still struggling to cope following the death of her mother last year (09) - she broke down in tears while discussing the painful subject during a recent newspaper interview.
Ann Love Smith passed away in April last year just hours after falling ill, while Moore was on her way to visit her.
The Hours actress has previously admitted she will always regret not being by her mother’s side when she died, and now 18 months on from the tragedy, Moore is still suffering.
When she was asked about her mum’s feminist stance in an interview with Britain’s The Guardian newspaper, the actress started sobbing.
She fought back tears as she told the journalist, "My mom, you know, I’m going to cry, sorry… My mother died a year and a half ago, and I’m still having a really hard time with it." Moore then paid tribute to her mum’s hardworking ethic, before trailing off again: "She was, you know, she was married when she was 19, and she had three children really quickly, and she didn’t graduate from college until I was in the eighth grade, and then she got two master’s degrees, she worked so hard, and she always said, ‘You know, you can do anything you want, and have a career’, and… Sorry."

SHEEN TO HONOUR FILMING COMMITMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN is set to put his troubles behind him to shoot a cameo role in a new movie this week (beg25Oct10), just days after he was dramatically hospitalised in New York.
The Two And A Half Men star hit headlines when cops were called his hotel room in the early hours of Tuesday morning (26Oct10), where they reportedly found the suite trashed and the actor nude and in an "emotionally disturbed" state.
He was admitted to hospital and a representative claimed the star had suffered an "adverse allergic reaction" to medication.
Sheen subsequently flew back to Los Angeles, where he is due on the set of new romantic comedy She Wants Me later this week (ends31oct10) to film a small role.
And the movie’s producer Danny Roth is confident Sheen will honour the commitment, because the actor has been in touch with film bosses since the hotel incident.
Roth tells TMZ.com, "(Sheen) has been in constant communication with the production… there is no doubt he will show up to filming. (If he doesn’t show up) it would force us to re-shoot a lot of what has been shot. (But) we’re absolutely not worried."

COYLE: ‘GIRLS ALOUD WORK WAS DIFFICULT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

NADINE COYLE bore the brunt of GIRLS ALOUD’s studio work, insisting she spent "hours and hours" recording vocals without her bandmates.
The Northern Irish singer shot to fame as one-fifth of Britain’s biggest girl group, which was created on U.K. TV talent contest Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.
But she admits the workload wasn’t always fairly distributed when it came to recording Girls Aloud tracks.
Coyle tells Britain’s Daily Telegraph, "I did more studio work than the other girls, that was my kind of area. I would do hours and hours, layering vocals and stacking them together. Brian (Higgins, producer) decided he could get more work done if it was just me and him in the studio, and then the girls would come in at the end and sing on top.
"It was difficult, definitely, because we all began in a competition, so everybody feels justified, like, ‘I’m a singer and the public voted for me’. But you don’t have time to feel sorry for yourself, because you’re all working as hard as each other. Singing is only a small part of it. After a while, you realise it’s more about miming on TV and doing a cute dance routine." But Coyle, who is currently embarking on a solo career while Girls Aloud is on hiatus, insists she never feuded with her bandmates.
She adds: "The press likes to create catfights with girl bands. I’m not that vicious or wayward. There was real camaraderie in Girls Aloud, the feeling of one for all, and all for one."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:18 pm

British singer ALEXANDRA BURKE checked into a hospital in Asia earlier this week (25Oct10) after a nasty bug bite left her with a severely swollen ankle.
The Bad Boys hitmaker, who won Britain’s The X Factor in 2008, has been spending time in Japan and Hong Kong this month (Oct10) as part of a promotional tour of the Far East.
But she flew into a frenzy during the trip when her lower leg started to balloon up and she rushed to see medics on Monday (25Oct10).
Burke was diagnosed with a "bad reaction" to an insect bite and was prescribed medication to ease the pain.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "I’ve been bitten on my ankle… And now my ankle is swollen! Should I be worried? It hurts… Seeing a doctor first thing tomorrow…
"At the hospital & have been seen. Doc says it’s a very bad reaction to a bite… So I’m on medication. All should be fine…

OSBOURNE OUTRAGED OVER ‘FATTIES’ ARTICLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:18 pm

SHARON OSBOURNE has fired off a foul-mouthed rant at an American journalist over an article which criticises overweight actors on TV - calling the reporter a "discredit to other women".
The rock matriarch, who has long struggled with her own weight issues, was outraged after reading an article by Maura Kelly, which was posted on MarieClaire.com on Monday (25Oct10).
The piece, titled Should ‘Fatties’ Get a Room? (Even on TV?), discusses the problem of obesity and refers to U.S. sitcom Mike & Molly, which focuses on a couple who meet at an Overeaters Anonymous group.
In the article, Kelly claims she would be "grossed out if I had to watch two characters with rolls and rolls of fat kissing each other…" and she finds it "aesthetically displeasing to watch a very, very fat person simply walk across a room".
Osbourne spoke out about the controversial piece on American chat show The Talk on Wednesday (27Oct10), labelling Kelly a "b**ch" and vowing to cancel her subscription to Marie Claire magazine.
She says, "(Kelly is) a discredit to other women - and I think she is a b**ch and I want her a**e here… I am now cancelling my subscription to the magazine, because apparently, this Kelly said it was on the advice of the editor of the magazine to do this piece, and I think it is absolutely (deplorable). I am so close to tears…
"If this woman was here, I tell you, she would get such a mouthful from me. People like this are adding to the problem that we have today with our kids - boys and girls - about being anorexic, about having low self-esteem… I’m 30 pounds overweight right now, should I not be allowed to kiss my husband or my children, or walk across a room?" Kelly has since apologised for her "insensitive" comments.

JAY-Z TAKES AIM AT BEYONCE PREGNANCY RUMOURS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:18 pm

JAY-Z has spoken out to officially dismiss rumours he is expecting a baby with his wife BEYONCE - insisting the pop superstar is definitely not pregnant.
The notoriously private couple came under the spotlight last week (ends24Oct10) following a spate of rumours which suggested they had a baby on the way.
Beyonce’s mother Tina laughed off the gossip during a subsequent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and now Jay-Z has broken his silence about his personal life to insist there is "no truth" to the stories.
He tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "I’m just shooting down the rumours before they start. They do that every slow news day, this is like the fifth time. I think we have five kids now. No truth, but I wonder when people will stop giving it relevance? "You can’t do the same subject. At least change the subject, they have to find a new one."

DOWNEY, JR. DEFENDS GIBSON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:15 pm

ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. has defended his pal MEL GIBSON over his troubled personal life - insisting he will always "love" the actor/director for hiring him when "no one else would".
The Iron Man star, who has battled drug and alcohol addiction throughout his career, has known Gibson since the 1980s and they first appeared on screen together in 1990’s Air America.
Downey, Jr.’s personal problems spun out of control by the late 1990s and he spent years in and out of jail and rehab until he finally kicked his addictions in 2001.
The actor subsequently struggled to find work and will always be grateful to Gibson for hiring him for 2003’s The Singing Detective.
And Downey, Jr. admits he will continue to support his friend as he battles his own troubles, which hit headlines this year (10) after Gibson’s ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, accused him of beating her in a violent domestic dispute.
Downey, Jr. tells Access Hollywood, "I’ve known the guy for 25 years and he hired me when no one else would. So I think that’s enough said on my position. I love the guy."

HOW I ENDED THIS SUMMER RULES LONDON FILM FESTIVAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:12 pm

Russian drama movie HOW I ENDED THIS SUMMER is continuing its award-winning run in Europe - it scooped the top prize at the BFI London Film Festival on Wednesday night (27Oct10).
The film, which is directed by Aleksei Popogrebsky, tells the story of two men working at an isolated Arctic research station, who gradually lose touch with reality.
How I Ended This Summer won several awards at the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany earlier this year (Feb10), and now it has taken the Best Film honour at London’s premiere movie event.
Head of the festival jury, actress Patricia Clarkson, says, "The film turns the hunter-versus-hunted narrative on its head to provoke powerful questions about life and death, resilience and human compassion. Tense, moving and universal in its scope, this is a cinematic tour de force." Lord Of The Rings star Andy Serkis took to the stage to present director Clio Barnard with the Best British Newcomer award for her offering The Arbor, while she also picked up the Sutherland Award for best direction.
Oscar-winning moviemaker Danny Boyle was also honoured at the event with a BFI Fellowship, which was presented to him by Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry.

TYSON: ‘GIBSON NEEDS THERAPY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:12 pm

Former boxing champion MIKE TYSON is urging MEL GIBSON to seek professional help as he battles personal problems, insisting the actor needs "someone to talk to".
Gibson has been embroiled in a public spat with his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva this year (10) over allegations he knocked out her teeth in a domestic dispute. Tapes of their bitter arguments, which later emerged online, intensified the fall out.
Tyson admits he can empathise with the actor/director because of his own chequered past, which saw him sensationally accused of beating his ex-wife Robin Givens, while he later sank into drug abuse.
And the sportsman is adamant Gibson needs therapy to help him through the dark times.
He tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "We all have that guy - a Mel Gibson - in us. We just don’t want people to be exposed to it. Maybe he needs to go get help. We all need help, and need someone to talk to. I’m not against him, but I’m not for him." Tyson, who appeared in hit 2009 comedy The Hangover, is reportedly set to join the cast of the upcoming sequel which will now no longer feature a cameo appearance from Gibson after members of the cast and crew objected to his presence on set.
But the boxer admits he wouldn’t have complained about working with the Lethal Weapon star.
He adds, "I’m not going to ever in my life point my finger at anyone. I don’t live in a glass house. None of us do. I work with anybody, as long as they’re respectful."
