JENNY MCCARTHY is still stunned by how quickly she became a Playboy Playm ate - an hour after showing up unannounced for a talent shoot.
The model/actress plucked up the courage to visit the publication’s Chi cago, Illinois headquarters after the cruel boss of a city modelling agen cy called her in to tell her she’d never make it in the business.
Devastated, McCarthy ran across the road and into the Playboy building because she simply couldn’t bear to return to the Polish grocery store wh ere she worked.
And that’s where the magic started.
Initially deterred by a snooty receptionist, who told her she couldn’t just walk into the pages of the men’s magazine, the star was waiting for the elevator when an executive told her to try out as a Playmate at a pho to shoot.
She recalls, "I put on a bikini… I didn’t know how to pose; it was li ke a mugshot.
"I went home and within one hour, and this is not an exaggeration, Play boy called and said, ‘You’re Miss October!’" But McCarthy admitted there was a huge shock in store for her the first time she disrobed for the magazine’s photographer.
She added, "He says, ‘Lose your undies…’ and all of a sudden I hear, ‘Woah!’ "I see them talk to the make-up artist and the make-up artist comes wal king over and she goes, ‘They said they’d never saw anyone as hairy as yo u their entire life.’ "I said, ‘Well, I’m half Polish!’" The star was further shocked when the photographer and his assistant ca me closer and started staring at her genitalia: "He (photographer) goes, ‘I say we just light the heck out of it… like it’s roadkill.’" (KL/WNVO
