BOLTON: ‘I WANT AN APOLOGY FROM DANCE JUDGE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:18 pm

Singer MICHAEL BOLTON has demanded U.S. TV judge BRUNO TONIOLI publicly apologise for harsh comments he made about the crooner on Monday night’s (27Sep10) DANCING WITH THE STARS show.
The choreographer ripped into the When a Man Loves a Woman singer after his performance with professional dance partner Chelsie Hightower, insisting it was the "worst jive" he had seen in 11 seasons of the hit programme.
Bolton was visibly shaken up by the criticism and didn’t even hang around to speak to the press after he was voted off the show on Tuesday night (28Sep10).
And now he’s demanding Tonioli apologises to him and Hightower.
He says, "To me, he let everybody down. I think he should apologise publicly and he should be reprimanded.
"My mom was there, she flew in, she’s 90 and she came to see a show and I thought she was really gonna enjoy it and I just didn’t expect that level of disrespect from him." But the show’s producers insist they’re not pressuring the judge to say sorry.
A statement reads, "Bruno’s role as a judge is to give his honest opinions on the quality of the dances he’s judging, which is what he did in this case. While we respect the feelings of our celebrities and our dancers, we don’t feel Bruno should be expected to apologize for doing his job."

JONES LEADS TRIBUTES TO MUSIC PIONEER GRIFFEY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:15 pm

Superproducer QUINCY JONES is leading tributes to S.O.L.A.R. Records founder RICHARD ‘DICK’ GRIFFEY, who died on Friday (24Sep10), aged 71.
The music pioneer, who created the R&B label in the 1970s, passed away at a rehabilitation centre in Canoga Park, Los Angeles after suffering complications from quadruple-bypass heart surgery.
Griffey promoted Stevie Wonder and the Jacksons.
In a statement Jones says, "Dick Griffey was one of the great pioneering executives in the music business, whose fingerprints were on some of the biggest R&B hits of the ’80s." Grammy-winning singer/producer Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds has also marked Griffey’s death, insisting he was responsible for creating the R&B scene 30 years ago.
He says, "His legacy isn’t as known because they don’t know the guy behind it all. I think he got frustrated with the music business, and it wasn’t as important to him. At some point, when it relates to your legacy, you have to fight to remember. And at some point, I don’t think he cared anymore. But I, for one, wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t sing the praises for the talent he was."

SORKIN SHOWERS OFF WRITER’S BLOCK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:12 pm

THE WEST WING creator AARON SORKIN has a bizarre method to writing his Emmy-winning scripts - he showers up to eight times a day to keep himself "energised" in between drafts.
The screenwriter, producer and playwright - who also turned Tom Cruise’s A Few Good Men from a stage play to a movie classic - strips down and scrubs his skin clean whenever he has writer’s block.
And he’s convinced his obsession with personal hygiene is key to his success.
He explains, "I’m very clean. I take six our eight showers a day because it’s a writing thing. They re-energise me if I get off to a bad start.
"We don’t have typewriters anymore, you don’t have the satisfaction of ripping the paper out of the typewriter and throwing it in the garbage, so I take a shower and I put on different clothes and I get a do-over."

FLO RIDA PLAYS DIVA AT SINGAPORE FESTIVAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:06 pm

Rapper FLO RIDA turned into a diva at a music festival in Singapore over the weekend (23-25Sep10) when he refused to leave his hotel room for his concert start time and then extended his set.
The Low hitmaker was supposed to hit the stage at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center for a midnight performance as part of the two-day Avalon At Large GO! event, which was staged around the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix.
But he kept organisers waiting for over an hour when he refused to leave his hotel room.
A source says, "No one had any idea why he was delaying his performance. His DJ showed up on time and in the end he had to play Flo Rida hits to keep the crowd happy.
"When Flo Rida did eventually show up, no one could get him off the stage and he performed for over an hour.
"DJ Steve Aoki, who was headlining the show, had to wait for 90 minutes before he could go onstage and, instead of closing the first night of the festival at 5am, it went on until 7am." But the festival, held to launch Singapore’s new floating Avalon nightclub which will open to the public this coming winter, was a huge success with rapper Chingy and the Chemical Brothers among the highlights.
Chingy, who showed up to watch the Chemical Brothers perform, was so impressed by the crowd he asked to be added to the bill and performed after the dance duo’s set.
Sir Richard Branson and Miss New Zealand 2009, Katie Taylor, were surprise guests during the British dance music duo’s set - the odd couple took to the stage to dance to the band’s Block Rockin’ Beats.

LOVE GETS ANIMATED FOR NEW FILM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:06 pm

COURTNEY LOVE has been turned into a new cartoon character in a new film by animator MICHAEL MOURIS.
The filmmaker has covered Love’s rise from grunge rocker to often classy fashion icon in a six-minute movie called The Dark Night of the Soul.
Love is thrilled with the end result, especially the parts of the film featuring cartoon cameos from designer Karl Lagerfeld and fashion guru Andre Leon Talley.
She says, "I don’t know if Karl has seen this, but it’s about him in so many ways." Mouris made his movie after Love granted him access to her personal photo albums and he hired an actress to play her, based on what he saw in the images.
He explains, "My process is called pixilation, which is animated with stop-motion, but uses real people instead of puppets.
"All of the images come from photographs. I hire actors to play the parts, photograph them in stop-motion and then I collage the photographs." Love adds, "One of the stills was photographed after I had the best sex of my entire life."

DRAKE FINALLY PERFORMS CONCERT IN NEW YORK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:57 pm

Rapper DRAKE finally got the chance to perform a full concert for his fans in New York on Tuesday (28Sep10) after his previous two attempts to hit the stage were cancelled at the last minute.
The Canadian hitmaker was due to headline a free show at Manhattan’s South Street Seaport in June (10), but police shut down the gig due to overcrowding after 25,000 devotees descended on the area.
A second free set in Central Park had to be scrapped in July (10) when officials at the Big Apple’s Parks Department were unable to provide the level of security demanded by authorities amid fears of a repeat riot.
But Drake was able to reward fans for their loyalty when he took to the stage at the famed Radio City Music Hall on Tuesday night for the first of two sold-out shows at the venue as part of his solo Light Dreams & Nightmares U.S. tour.
He delighted fans with renditions of tracks like Fireworks, Best I Ever Had, Successful and Forever, and was joined by special guests J.Cole and Young Jeezy for Unforgettable, while a red-headed Rihanna was spotted in the audience singing along to every song.
The Bajan beauty later met up with Drake to celebrate his tour success with an afterparty at hotspot Greenhouse, which also served as a birthday bash for former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton.
