Actor ZAC EFRON doesn’t mind fans approaching him when he’s off-duty - b ecause his fame has afforded the actor "so much".
The 22 year old has gained a loyal following since shooting to fame at the beginning of the High School Musical franchise when he was still a te enager.
He’s constantly tailed by photographers hoping to catch a snap of the s tar and his girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens.
But although Efron admits he would sometimes love to be anonymous, he i s fine with being recognised - because there are so many upsides to fame.
He tells the BBC, "Yeah, you have that thought (to be anonymous) every once in a while.
"I’d probably do the simplest things - it’s the small things you miss t hat you can’t do. When you take a look at the big picture, which I remind myself to do as much as possible, you just remember this (fame) has affo rded me so much.
"I’ve got so much out of this, so the small things I can do without for a whole - there’s a big upside."

Actor JASON RITTER was left devastated when he was targeted by a gang of thieves in London years ago - because he loved the wallet they stole.
The 30-year-old son of late comedian John Ritter was studying at the Ro yal Academy of Dramatic Art - and he’ll never forget the night he was acc osted by a group of men who grabbed his wallet and mobile phone.
He remembers, "I was walking down the street and I wasn’t playing atten tion and I looked up and I saw this guy with a bandanna like this (on top his head) and a bandanna down like that (over his mouth), and I was like , ‘Hey, that guy kind of looks like a bandit or something.’ And he grabbe d my neck and he yanked me over to this alcove and there were two other g uys there." Ritter failed to notice the men didn’t have any weapons - and he’s stil l embarrassed he didn’t fight back: "One guy was going like this (pointin g) to the top of my head with his fingers (shaped like a gun). But it was still scary! You always have your fantasy of what you would do in a situ ation like that… I would just chop one in the throat or something like that. But you’re just like (begging), ‘No, please!’ It was embarrassing." The actor admits he tried to reason with his muggers - but with little success: "For some reason because they had the accents I thought they wer e reasonable so I said, ‘Guys when you’re done, can I just have my wallet back? You can take the cash.’ They went, ‘Yeah man sure, walk up and dow n this block in about five minutes.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, cool. Thanks.’ And then of course they didn’t."

Veteran British actor STEPHEN FRY is convinced he’s only "90 per cent gay " - because there are two women in the world who have stirred his emotion s.
The openly gay comic has only ever dated men, but Fry reveals he felt a "surprising" attraction when he met the wife of his Blackadder co-star R owan Atkinson, make-up artist Sunetra Sastry, and novelist Caroline Oulto n.
In his new autobiography, the 53 year old writes, "I am only ‘90 per ce nt gay’, which is of course pretty damned gay, but every now and again on my path through life I have met a woman in the 10 per cent bracket. Caro line at (British university) Cambridge was one, although I never told her so, and Sunetra was another.
"(Sunetra) was bright, funny and as captivatingly alluring as any girl I had met for years. I was quite seriously considering asking her out on a date when Rowan timidly approached me one morning during rehearsals for the second (Blackadder) episode and asked if I would mind swapping make- up artists with him. ‘Don’t you like the one you’ve got?’ I said. ‘N-no, it’s not that, she’s splendid’. He (Atkinson) gave me a look of uncharact eristic intensity. ‘Oh!’ I said, as the penny dropped." Fry served as best man when Atkinson wed Sastry in 1990 and he admits h e’s constantly ridiculed by the beauty over his candid confession: "’Oh, you should have done!’ Sunetra often says to me. ‘I’d have gone out with you.’ But I know how happy she is and how right it was that I stayed sile nt."

KELLY OSBOURNE has lashed out at DANNII MINOGUE for making disparaging co mments about her mother SHARON, insisting the Australian pop star is "the devil".
Minogue fell out with the rock matriarch in 2007 after she was drafted in to appear as a fellow judge on Simon Cowell’s U.K. talent contest The X Factor.
The singer has opened up about her fractured relationship with Osbourne in her upcoming autobiography Dannii: My Story, alleging the veteran sta r reduced her to tears moments before making her live debut on the realit y show.
Tabloid reports suggested the two females had been feuding behind the s cenes and Osbourne was furious Minogue had failed to put a stop to the cl aims.
In the book Minogue writes, "About 30 minutes before the live broadcast , there was (an) urgent knock on my dressing room door, and in bowled Sha ron… Sharon demanded to know why I hadn’t gone to the press to tell the m what a nice person she was… The minute she left, I burst into tears. I’d managed to hold it together while Sharon had been there, but once she ‘d gone I couldn’t hold it in, and I wept into my hands." But Osbourne’s daughter Kelly has taken offence to the account and has blasted Minogue on her Twitter.com page.
She writes, "The best thing to happen to dannii’s career was that my mo ther hated her she needs to shut her mouth and concentrate on motherhood! I will be the first one to admit that my mother did not play her cards r ight when (it) came to dannii but trust me when i say dannii is the devil ..
"Dannii you are so lucky that i respect simon enough to not tell the tr uth about what really happened. To the 12 dannii fans out there i ask you this question what would you do if someone wrote a book of lies about yo ur mother? (sic)"

Rocker COURTNEY LOVE’s rumoured new beau, Dutch supermodel SANDER KOK, ha s moved swifty to dismiss reports the pair is dating.
The Hole frontwoman sparked speculation she was dating the model after they were seen looking close at the reopening of Manhattan’s Top of the S tandard nightspot earlier this month (Sep10).
But Kok insists they are just friends, telling the New York Post he has a steady girlfriend in Holland.

An intimate photo shot by ANNIE LEIBOVITZ featuring JOHN LENNON embracing YOKO ONO days before the rocker was killed is going up for auction in Ne w York next month (Oct10).
The image was one of a series of pictures taken for Rolling Stone magaz ine in December 1980, the issue bearing the famous cover photo of a naked Lennon kissing a fully-clothed Ono.
The shot is one of 40 copies in existence and has been placed on the au ction block by a private collector.
It is expected to sell for between $10,000 (=C2=A36,670) and $15,000 (=C2 =A310,000) at the Swann Auction Galleries sale on 19 October (10).
Lennon was shot dead outside his Manhattan apartment in December 1980.

KATY PERRY celebrated her last days as a single lady on Saturday (19Sat10 ) - with a wild Las Vegas night out featuring strippers and circus perfor mers.
The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker arrived at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel B each Club pool with 25 companions, including pal Rihanna - who brought al ong raunchy inflatables.
Perry wore a white bikini with a veil attached to her bottom as the gro up sipped champagne, vodka and beer - before changing into a cocktail dre ss and taking a Hummer limousine to performance troupe Cirque Du Soleil’s KA show.
The ladies later had dinner and headed to XS nightclub, where they sat in the VIP area and danced the night away - but the evening was far from over as the group headed to Sapphire strip club.
According to People.com, Perry even got a dance of her own from a busty blonde before the group headed to a private skybox, away from the public eye.
Perry’s bachelorette party came just one day after her fiance, British funnyman Russell Brand, was arrested after allegedly attacking a group of paparazzi as he walked through Los Angeles International Airport with th e singer. He was taken into custody and was subsequently booked for batte ry.
The couple is due to exchange vows later this year (10), although detai ls about their wedding plans have yet to emerge.

Grammy-nominated reggae star BOUNTY KILLER was arrested on Saturday night (18Sep10) on suspicion of assaulting a female companion in his native Ja maica.
The Kingston-born star, real name Rodney Price, was taken into custody after a woman turned up at the Constant Spring Police Station bleeding, c laiming Price "beat her up".
According to police, the alleged incident occurred at his Oakland Apart ments residence in St. Andrew.
Deputy Superintendent Altermoth Campbell tells the Jamaica Observer, "S he turned up here sometime after six and said that he used a hammer to be at her up." Price was charged with wounding, and remained in custody as WENN went t o press. He is expected to appear in court next week (beg20Sep10).
The incident comes just months after Bounty Killer spent two weeks behi nd bars in April (10), after he was arrested by the Constant Spring polic e for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. The complainant, Kadeem Baker, eventually dropped her claims against him.

ZAC EFRON is hoping to sail the world one day - after learning how to hel m a boat for CHARLIE ST. CLOUD.
The actor is a keen surfboarder and reveals he’d love to explore some o f the ocean’s best waves when he is older.
And Efron is confident he could sail a boat by himself after learning t he skill during filming for his latest movie.
He tells Britain’s Radio 1, "I had never sailed before. I’d only been o n a boat a few times but I was still pretty young - I thought it was cool er below deck. I wasn’t really into the sailing part so learning was a lo t… It’s a hard sport, you can’t fake it like you can with certain thing s in movies. You either know how to sail and you look like you know how t o do it because you’re actually doing it or you capsize and the camera gu y falls in the water.
"Yeah I would like to (carry on sailing). I think it would be a great w ay to see the world some day - get a big boat. I’d love to just sail sout h and see some exotic places. I know there’s a lot of cool surf places in the world you can only get to by boat. Some day I’ll go out there and ch eck it out. Sail on up there and just jump off deck with my board." (CL/W

BEN AFFLECK is "shocked and excited" his bank heist film THE TOWN stole t he top spot from his competition at the U.S. box office this weekend (17- 19Sep10).
Affleck wrote, directed and stars as a young criminal ready to change h is life in the new movie - his second foray into directing since his crit ically-acclaimed 2007 debut Gone Baby Gone.
And starpower from Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, Jon Hamm and Blake Live ly helped the film take in a winning $23.8 million (=C2=A315.9 million) i n earnings.
At a gala screening of The Town in London on Sunday (19Sep10), Affleck told Upbeat Productions’ Filmbeat: "Reaction (to) the film has been great , I was shocked and it seems to be doing very well. I can’t tell you (how ) exciting and thrilling it is, ya know? We are the number one at the box office in the U.S. this weekend… so imagine my surprise!" Affleck’s film beat competition from high school comedy Easy A, which d ebuted with $18.2 million (=C2=A312.1 million) in takings, while new thri ller Devil debuted at three with $12.6 million (=C2=A38.4 million).
Milla Jovovich’s action-packed Resident Evil: Afterlife followed at fou r with $10.1 million (=C2=A36.7 million), while animated family film Alph a and Omega - featuring the voices of Christina Ricci, Justin Long, Hayde n Panettiere, Dennis Hopper and Danny Glover - rounded out the top five b y raking in $9.2 million (=C2=A36.1 million).

AL PACINO and JOE PESCI are in talks to reunite with ROBERT DE NIRO and t heir GOODFELLAS director MARTIN SCORSESE for new gangster film THE IRISHM AN, according to reports.
De Niro has already signed up to play Frank ‘the Irishman’ Sheeran in t he project - based on the book I Heard You Paint Horses about a mafia ass assin.
And now Pacino and Pesci, who starred alongside De Niro in the hit 1990 mob movie, are also in negotiations to land roles in the film, according to Britain’s Daily Star Sunday tabloid.
A source tells the publication, "If they all do team up it will result in a rather exciting mob ensemble. Although De Niro and Pacino’s last fil m together (2008’s) Righteous Kill was a disappointment to many, this cou ld well make up for that if plans come to fruition."

Veteran TV producer and film distributor SANDY FRANK has been cleared of domestic violence charges after his wife refused to help police, accordin g to U.S. reports.
Frank, who is credited with distributing beloved TV programmes Lassie a nd You Asked For It, was arrested with his wife Brenda at their Manhattan apartment after a dispute turned violent in August (10).
They were each charged with assault and weapons possession amid allegat ions they threw glassware at each other during the incident.
According to the New York Daily News, the case against the 81-year-old producer was dismissed on Friday (17Sep10).
Charges against his wife are also expected to be dropped when she appea rs in court on Thursday (23Sep10).
The couple married in January (10) but are reportedly no longer living together.

Moviemaker OLIVER STONE has cut DONALD TRUMP’s cameo from the WALL STREET sequel - branding the tycoon’s appearance "distracting" from the plot.
Last November (09), the real-estate mogul shot a scene with Michael Dou glas for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, the highly-anticipated sequel t o the hit 1987 film.
The scene showed Douglas’ ruthless Wall Street character Gordon Gekko g etting a haircut alongside Trump, who suggests he re-style his hair to lo ok like the mogul’s famous comb over. Gekko replies, "No thanks, Donald, I’m a gel man." But Stone decided to leave the shot on the cutting-room floor.
He tells the New York Post, "It’ll be on the DVD. I only cut it because it was distracting. He was at the end of the movie and all of sudden, ‘H ey, there’s Donald Trump!’ Structurally, I think we put him in too late."

30 ROCK star GRIZZWALD CHAPMAN has struck up an unexpected friendship wit h his kidney donor following surgery earlier this year (10) - and is grat eful to have a new "chance at life".
The funnyman, who suffers from severe hypertension, dropped from 505 to 350 pounds (230 to 159 kilograms) in order to undergo the lifesaving ope ration at New York’s Montefiore Medical Center in July (10).
He tells People.com, "I didn’t want to die. I wanted to live. I wanted to be with my family and wanted to see my 11-year-old son grow up. When y ou go through something like this, you learn to appreciate little things - the birds, trees, flowers. I pay attention to everything now - the tas te of bread, the taste of water. It all feels different now." And Chapman, who plays Tracy Morgan’s sidekick on the hit TV comedy, ad mits he’ll be forever grateful to the 20-year-old single Arizona man whos e kidney saved his life.
Chapman adds, "He wasn’t a fan of 30 Rock and didn’t watch it. He was a total stranger who was going to donate a kidney, regardless." And the actor is still in touch with the donor, who does not wish to be identified: "We talk all the time. He just sent me some pictures from a wonderful trip he took, and I told him I was a little jealous. Next time he goes, I am going with him."

Superstars TOM CRUISE and MADONNA were movie bosses’ first choices for th e lead roles in iconic 1990 mafia movie GOODFELLAS.
Studio chiefs were desperate to cast Cruise in the role of mobster Henr y Hill and Madonna was wanted to play his wife - until Ray Liotta and Lor raine Bracco won over Scorsese and the movie’s producers.
Speaking to GQ magazine on Goodfellas’ 20th anniversary, producer Irwin Winkler admits, "Tom Cruise was discussed. Marty wanted Ray… Frankly I thought we could do a lot better and then me and my wife were having din ner one night in a restaurant and lo and behold, Ray Liotta came over to me. He said, ‘Look, I know you don’t really want me for it, but…’ And h e sold me on the role right that evening. I called Marty the next morning .." Bracco beat out Madonna for the role of Karen Hill, despite Scorsese in itially favouring the Material Girl.
Fellow producer Barbara De Fina says, "Madonna seemed to be in the mix.
I remember that we went to see her in the play Speed-the-Plow. Marty sai d hello to her afterwards. Can you imagine? Tom Cruise and Madonna? But M arty can get a performance out of almost anyone."
