THE CHARLATANS POSTPONE TOUR

THE CHARLATANS have axed the remainder of their U.S. tour after drummer J ON BROOKES collapsed during a concert on Wednesday night (15Sep10).
The British rockers were performing at the Johnny Brenda’s venue in Phi ladelphia, Pennsylvania when Brookes keeled over onstage, prompting the band to cut short the set and call for medics.
The percussionist is alleged to have stopped breathing and was taken to the nearby St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he underwent treatment and tests for the mystery ailment.
He has since returned to the U.K. to continue his recovery and as a res ult, the group has postponed all remaining tour dates.
A spokesperson for the band says, "The Charlatans are very upset at not being able to continue the tour but hope to reschedule the dates as soon as possible." It is The Charlatans’ second North American tour to be affected by Broo kes’ health problems - they had to scrap a string of gigs last year (09) after he was advised to undergo surgery on his shoulder.

ALLEN’S LEGAL ACTION AGAINST APPLE

Pregnant singer LILY ALLEN is taking legal action against bosses at techn ology giant Apple after her computer was hacked, according to a U.K. repo rt.
The Smile hitmaker was horrified to find her laptop had been accessed w ithout her permission and tried without success to determine the identity of the hacker.
The only way the 25 year old will find out is through legal channels - so she filed papers at London’s High Court last week (begs13Sep10), repor ts Britain’s The Sun.

BOYLE ALERTS COPS OVER PRANK CALLS

Scottish singer SUSAN BOYLE has reportedly called in police after receivi ng a series of frightening phone calls from a man claiming to be her brot her.
The 49 year old, who shot to fame on hit TV show Britain’s Got Talent last year (09), has been left fearing for her safety over the messages - with the caller alleging he is her brother Gerry.
The mystery man has also been targeting her record company asking for S imon Cowell, according to Britain’s The Sun.
A source tells the publication, "Susan’s phone has been going at all ti mes of the day. He clearly isn’t Gerry."

EFRON HATED UNDERWATER SCENES IN NEW MOVIE

ZAC EFRON struggled to film underwater scenes for his new movie CHARLIE S T. CLOUD - because he was submerged beneath the surface for up to 15 minu tes at a time.
The High School Musical star found it difficult to shoot the dramatic s cenes for the climax of the drama and he’s keen never to repeat the exper ience.
He tells BBC Radio 1, "It was one of the most surreal experiences. In ( watching) movies growing up whenever I see underwater scenes I always ass umed they somehow figured out a way for actors to breathe underwater.
"The actual challenge of being underwater for minutes at a time and mov ing from oxygen tank to oxygen tank is so hard. I would be submerged for like 15, 16 minutes at a time. It’s really nuts, that was really hard to do. You can’t see anything!"

NO CHRISTMAS FOR HARD-WORKING SWANK

Actress HILARY SWANK was so dedicated to new movie CONVICTION, she left h er family on Christmas Day (25Dec) to work on the film.
The Million Dollar Baby star plays an unemployed single mother who earn s a law degree so she can represent her brother in court in the movie, wh ich is set to hit U.S. theatres next month (Oct10).
Swank was so keen to do a good job with the role, she worked through th e holidays last year (09) - but her relatives didn’t mind.
She says, "It was something that I worked on daily, even over the holid ays. Christmas night something was falling apart and I was like ‘Excuse m e’ to my family ‘You’ve got my back and I’ve got your back’ and they were like, ‘Go do it, go do it’ because my family loved the story. It’s a sto ry that’s in my heart, I have to do it. You know, there will be other Chr istmases."

JESSICA ALBA has become more "wild and free" now she is a mother - becaus e she parties with pals once her daughter HONOR is asleep.
The Sin City star gave birth to the tot in 2008 and admits that once th e two year old is in bed, she lets loose with her friends - something she never would have done before welcoming a child into her life.
She says, "I think I’m a little more wild and free since I had her beca use once she’s in bed, all my mom friends, we get together and have dance parties at the house. It’s really dorky but I probably would have never done that before."

BRAND ‘REGRETS’ SACHS PRANK CALLS

RUSSELL BRAND regrets his infamous controversial calls to actor ANDREW SA CHS - insisting it was "a mistake" to make light of the veteran star’s "p rivate matters".
The comic quit his British radio show in 2008 after he and fellow broad caster Jonathan Ross were heavily criticised for leaving "grossly offensi ve" messages on TV star Sachs’ answer machine during a live broadcast.
The pair discussed Brand’s fling with the 80-year-old’s granddaughter G eorgina Baillie.
The funnyman, now engaged to Katy Perry, apologised at the time but was adamant he would not change his controversial comedy act.
But in upcoming autobiography Booky Wook 2: This Time It’s Personal, Br and admits he regrets the exchange - because he would hate for his own fa mily dramas to be broadcast to the world.
He explains, "It was a mistake to leave those messages and upset Andrew Sachs. Even though he has since joked that he’s done quite well out of t he affair, it must have hurt him.
"I know what it’s like to have complicated familial relationships and t o have those fragile feelings jangled for a gag is wounding.
"Now, more than I did at the time, I see how wrong it was to use such p rivate matters to fuel humour and I hope he and his family know of my reg ret; it was certainly apparent in the apology I sent him and, I hope, cle ar in these words I now write."

WILLIAMS ATTENDS WEEKLY AA MEETINGS

Funnyman ROBIN WILLIAMS still attends weekly Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) me etings, four years after checking into rehab.
The comedian has long battled a dependence on drink and relapsed in 200 3 while filming The Big White in Alaska.
He checked into rehab three years later (Aug06) after a family interven tion and has stayed away from booze ever since - but Williams still atten ds AA sessions to keep him focused on sobriety.
He tells Britain’s Guardian newspaper, "(I) have to. It’s good to go."

EASTWOOD: ‘JOLIE WILL MAKE A GREAT DIRECTOR’

CLINT EASTWOOD is "looking forward to seeing" ANGELINA JOLIE’s directiona l debut - because he’s convinced she will make a successful transition fr om acting when she steps behind the camera.

BRAND’S ARREST PROMPTS U.S. IMMIGRATION INVESTIGATION

RUSSELL BRAND’s arrest on Friday (17Sep10) could jeopardise his blossomin g movie career - American immigration officials are investigating the sit uation and could revoke his visa over the incident.
The British star was detained on suspicion of battery after allegedly a ttacking a photographer as he walked through Los Angeles International Ai rport with his fiancee Katy Perry on Friday (17Sep10).
The singer claims Brand was protecting her from snappers who were tryin g to take an inappropriate photo of her - but the funnyman’s actions coul d result in a ban from the U.S.
A spokesperson for the US Citizen and Immigration Services tells Britai n’s Daily Mirror, "We are looking into this…
"A charge of battery could result in a conviction for an aggravated fel ony. Any kind of criminal conviction can lead to a visa being revoked.
"If a visa is revoked, the person will then be placed in deportation pr oceedings and this could lead to them being asked to leave the country an d not return."

THE SCRIPT TOP BRITISH ALBUM CHART

Pop rockers THE SCRIPT have fought off tough competition from LINKIN PARK , ROBERT PLANT and PHIL COLLINS to top the U.K. album chart.
The Irish band’s second studio release, Science & Faith, debuted at num ber one on Sunday (19Sep10), leaving A Thousand Suns from Linkin Park to enter at number two.
Plant’s latest offering, Band Of Joy, was at three, while Collins was a t four with Going Back. Brandon Flowers dropped from the top spot to five with his first solo album, Flamingo.
In Britain’s singles chart, Alexandra Burke retained the top spot for a second week with her collaboration with Laza Morgan, Start Without You.
Dynamite by Taio Cruz climbed a place to two, while Katy Perry’s Teenag e Dream dropped one place to three.

GLEE CREATORS NEVER ASKED TO USE KINGS OF LEON MUSIC

Producers behind hit TV show GLEE have dismissed reports they were denied permission to use songs by the KINGS OF LEON for a special episode, insi sting they have never expressed interest in showcasing the band’s music.
Bassist Jared Followill recently claimed the rockers had been approache d to feature their hits on the popular all-singing-all-dancing series, fo llowing in the footsteps of Madonna and Lady Gaga.
Followill alleged the band had rejected the request, saying, "We could have sold out so much more. We turn stuff down constantly." But Glee’s co-creator Ian Brennan is baffled by the rocker’s remarks - because they’ve never tried to contact the Sex On Fire hitmakers.
He says, "The Kings Of Leon thing I didn’t really understand because we didn’t approach them. I don’t know where that came from.
"I would say probably 80 per cent of the people who you heard are going to be on Glee is probably news to us."

Boy band THE OSMOND BROTHERS had a secret weapon to ensure its dance rout ines impressed - martial arts master CHUCK NORRIS was their dance teacher ..
The popular 1960s family troupe were worried they danced like girls, so they hired the star to make its routines more manly by incorporating his martial arts moves.
In a video posted on Osmond.com, singer Alan explains, "(I said) ‘Chuck , we need to toughen up our dance. Can you help us?’ "And he said ‘Well let’s learn some karate, and you can apply the moves , ’cause there’s stomps, and hoo, yeah!’ You know, it was very boyish, an d that’s what we wanted."

JA RULE EYEING HIP-HOP SITCOM

Gruff-voiced rapper JA RULE is set to expand his acting portfolio in a ne w hip-hop comedy sitcom.
The rapper recently revealed he has several reality TV projects in the works, one featuring new artists signed to his record label, the Murder I nc., and another that will focus on his home life.
And now he’s revealed a new scripted series is also in the works.
He tells AllHipHop.com, "I am doing a sitcom, a real written sitcom, so that (sic) not reality, we are doing the TV thing and we are having a go od time, and the movie thing, so it (sic) working." ALLEN IN NO RUSH TO MARRY

Pregnant singer LILY ALLEN is in no rush to walk down the aisle - because she wants to concentrate on motherhood first.
The Smile hitmaker and her boyfriend Sam Cooper are expecting their fir st child together and the star is adamant he’s the one for her.
Allen admits she would love to marry the building contractor one day, b ut insists expanding her brood takes priority over a wedding.
She tells Britain’s Sunday Mirror, "It’s not down to me. Of course I wa nt to get married to Sam. But I certainly won’t be getting married while I’m pregnant. There’s no way.
