DARSKI THANKS FANS FOR SUPPORT OVER CANCER BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:40 pm

BEHEMOTH frontman ADAM ‘NERGAL’ DARSKI has spoken of his cancer diagnosis for the first time - insisting the kindly reaction of fans has made him question his "low opinion of humankind".
The Polish rockers axed European and U.S. tours last month (Aug10) afte r Darski was told he’s suffering from leukaemia and is in need of a bone- marrow transplant.
The singer/guitarist had intended to fight the disease in private - but the overwhelming public support he’s received has prompted him to speak out.
In a message to his fans in Metal Hammer magazine, Darski says, "I have n’t intended to manifest myself in any way and, especially at this stage, to share my feelings or any other news with the world for obvious reason s. It is simply too early for it. But it was you who provoked me to say a few words.
"Regarding my low opinion of humankind, I’m shocked by the reaction to my illness. I actually expected nothing yet received feedback which surpa ssed all expectations… You are a gigantic indestructible army that trul y inspires me in this difficult time. The fact is that a fight with this illness is going to last for many months. Most of this time I will spend in hospital and go through various psychophysical states… I am sure I w ill get out of it stronger than ever." And the rocker is also adamant a life-threatening illness will not alte r his views on religion: "Opinion suggesting I might come closer to God o r abandon my ideals and grovel to the only correct world view in this cou ntry not only surprised but also frightened me… The idea that I will ch ange my opinions, priorities, and values as a consequence of my illness s ounds as if someone regards my head, and not my body, ill. Suggesting I m ight convert is ridiculous."
