LADY GAGA has vowed to carry on fighting the ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ poli cy, aimed at homosexuals and bisexuals in the military, after the U.S. Se nate voted against debating a new bill on the topic.
The Poker Face hitmaker, who has been very outspoken against the policy in recent weeks, appeared at a rally in Maine on Monday (20Sep10) to fur ther campaign against the ongoing military cover-up.
Despite gaining a lot of publicity and turning heads in Washington, D.C .., Gaga’s efforts were in vain - on Tuesday (21Sep10), a Republican-led f ilibuster blocked efforts to repeal the policy on gays serving openly in the military.
But the singer has pledged to carry on fighting the ruling for the sake of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual And Transgender (LGBT) community.
And Gaga is hoping her campaigning will inspire other young people to m ake a stand too.
She says, "(It) was an enormous disappointment, for myself, and for man y young American people. Not only because Don’t Ask Don’t Tell was not re pealed by our Senators, but moreover because legislative procedure is bei ng abused to stop public business, public debates, from happening while A merica is watching.
"There was a debate… we just didn’t get to watch it. Instead, it has been customary now for antiquated procedures and partisan politics to tak e precedence over debate, America’s needs, and today, sadly, over the nee ds of U.S. troops.
"I will keep fighting, I will not give up. I am passionate about the ri ghts of the LGBT Community… and I will continue to activate as many you ng people as I can, and encourage them to get politically involved in the ir future.

Actress KATE WALSH has auctioned off the sushi and sashimi dress she wore on America’s Tonight Show to raise awareness for marine conservation.
The star donned the fishy dress as a tribute to Lady Gaga, who famously wore a red-meat gown at the MTV Video Music Awards, when she appeared on Jay Leno’s late-night show last week (ends17Sep10).
Walsh had her assistants cover a little black dress with raw fish, and shaded her eyes with Gaga-inspired glasses made from Tamago - a Japanese- style omelet.
She completed the edible ensemble with a ring made from a sushi roll an d prawns strapped to her Louis Vuitton stilettos.
The whole ensemble was snapped up by a fan in Ithaca, New York.
She says, "We did a little sweepstakes contest on Twitter and we have a winner… It’s for one of my charities - Oceana.
"I did this to really keep people thinking about sustainable seafood. W hen you go out to have sushi, definitely do not eat the blue fin tuna… You can check and see what’s in seafood before you order."

British actress/socialite DAVINIA TAYLOR suffered a setback during her al cohol detox last year (09) when she suffered a fit and broke her nose in a fall.
The partying millionairess quit booze in a bid to be a better mum to he r three-year-old son, Grey.
But she admits the shock of being sober caused her to suffer a fit - an d she ended up in hospital with a broken nose as a result.
The 32 year old tells Britain’s OK! magazine, "I went out to get some t ea bags and I woke up in an ambulance. I fell flat on my face and broke m y nose - my eyes were huge and black and my top lip was split open." And that wasn’t the first time Taylor suffered an injury during her que st for sobriety.
She adds, "Once I had an alcoholic fit on Regent Street (in London). I didn’t know your body can die from the shock of coming off alcohol. Your organs just shut down. It was day two of not drinking… Then suddenly I was out cold, smashed straight on the floor."

Moviemaker JAMES CAMERON is to be honoured with the Producers Guild of Am erica’s top prize for his contributions to showbusiness.

Rockers STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have rescheduled 12 U.S. tour dates so the ba nd can take "a short break".
No reason has been given for the hiatus, but the band, led by enigmatic frontman Scott Weiland, will resume the trek towards the middle of next month (Oct10).
The recently reunited band postponed a date in El Paso, Texas on Tuesda y night (21Sep10) and announced they’d be scrapping two other upcoming st ate shows.
Now they’ve added another nine concerts to the list.
The news comes days after the band took the stage in Houston, Texas on Sunday (19Sep10) an hour late, and Weiland rambled on through the show ab out his drug addiction and marriage breakdown.
The singer, who has struggled with substance abuse over the last few ye ars and battled heroin addiction before finally getting sober, told fans at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion how he had been affected by his pa st problems.
Fans and critics noted he seemed "disoriented" and his remarks from the stage were "odd and confusing".

The Los Angeles-based socialite admits she was inundated with emails an d correspondence after airing a recent Botox session on Keeping Up with t he Kardashians, in which she "freaked out" after a cosmetic jab left her looking bruised and puffy.
She says, "I’ve been getting lots of emails and comments regarding the Botox episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, so I wanted to address this today to clear some things up.
"On the show you saw I had some bruising around my eyes after the proce dure, which is totally natural, but because I hadn’t looked into the side effects, I freaked out.
"I am not against Botox, and I would never judge anyone else for gettin g any kind of surgical or non-surgical procedure, but I think when you’re young there are other ways you can look after your skin, and some amazin g products on the market.
"Botox just wasn’t necessary for me at this age."
