LOST BOYS FILMMAKERS PLAN SECOND TRILOGY

THE LOST BOYS vampire movie series is to suck yet more blood out of the b ox office - studio bosses are considering a second trilogy of films.
The Lost Boys: The Thirst, the second straight-to-dvd sequel, is set fo r release in October (10) and star Corey Feldman reveals another three un dead adventures are in the pipeline, as well as a TV spin-off.
Feldman, who plays vampire hunter Edgar Frog in the franchise, says, "I f (The Thirst) performs as it seems it’s going to, we’re open to not only another sequel, but we’re talking three more films, a second trilogy. We ‘ve plotted out three more films that could bring back more original char acters. We’re also talking a television series."

REYNOLDS TRIED SMUGGLING SLEEP MEDICATION TO SPAIN

RYAN REYNOLDS was so desperate to cure his insomnia while filming new mov ie BURIED, he convinced his family to try smuggling sleep aides to him on the set of the shoot in Spain.
Reynolds stars as a trucker who is kidnapped in Iraq and buried alive i n the film, but he didn’t predict shooting long scenes locked in a coffin would take such a mental toll.
And he was desperate for a solution after discovering many over-the-cou nter sleep aides in the U.S. are illegal in Spain.
He explains, "I’d go home and I’d pace until sun up, like a vampire, an d then climb into a coffin (to film)… I was losing my mind, I hadn’t sl ept in days, weeks." But the actor never got the relief he desperately needed - because Span ish immigration officials blocked the drugs from getting into the country ..
He adds: "In Spain, you can’t get over-the-counter sleep aides. Melaton in is a herbal one that I like to use because it’s not really harmful. Yo u can’t get it there, it’s basically like crack.
"I had my family ship it over from America, and it never got to me each time. I tried six times to get it there."

EBANKS SLAMS WEST REUNION RUMOURS

Model SELITA EBANKS has laughed off rumours she’s rekindled her romance w ith KANYE WEST - insisting the rapper is just "a great friend".
The Stronger hitmaker dated the beauty back in 2008 and they sparked sp eculation of a reunion earlier this month (Sep10) after they were spotted watching a match together at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York ..
West, who recently split from on/off girlfriend Amber Rose, further fue lled the gossip by posing for photos with Ebanks at the New Yorkers for C hildren Gala in the Big Apple on Tuesday night (21Sep10).
But Ebanks, who was previously engaged to Mariah Carey’s husband Nick C annon, has dismissed the rumours, insisting their relationship is purely platonic.

JAGGER URINATED ON WARHOL’S ART

SIR MICK JAGGER’s daughter JADE risked the wrath of legendary artist ANDY WARHOL as a child when she urinated on one of his artworks.
The jewellery designer spent a lot of time at Warhol’s legendary Factor y studio in New York City when she was a kid in the wake of her famous fa ther’s divorce from her mother Bianca in 1978.
And Jade nearby caused an upset during one of Warhol’s babysitting sess ions when she soiled one of his creations - but insists the artist wasn’t angry.
She explains to German magazine Gala, "I spent a lot of time during the day at Andy’s. I had my first glass of champagne with him. No wonder I p eed on his photo base paper once! But he didn’t freak out, he liked the e ffect and later asked me to do it again."

WHIBLEY DENIES LAVIGNE BREAK-UP INSPIRED NEW ALBUM

SUM 41 frontman DERYCK WHIBLEY has headed off suggestions the band’s new album was inspired by his split from AVRIL LAVIGNE, insisting the record is "not about her." The rockers’ upcoming sixth disc, Screaming Bloody Murder, showcases an angrier, harder edge to the band’s sound.
But Whibley is adamant he is not exorcising the demons of his divorce f rom the Sk8er Boi star following their break-up last year (09) after thre e years of marriage.
He tells Kerrang! magazine, "It’s not a break-up record. The record’s n ot about her, and it’s not about the whole break-up. It’s just us being a s loud as we can be, screaming about how we don’t give a f**k about anyth ing else other than ourselves."

BONHAM’S LED ZEPPELIN MELTDOWN

JOHN BONHAM’s son JASON suffered a minor meltdown before taking to the st age with LED ZEPPELIN at the band’s reunion gig in 2007 - he became so fr ustrated he crushed his drum pedals under the wheels of his car.
The Foreigner star stepped in to replace his late father at the legenda ry group’s one-off concert at London’s O2 Arena and admits he was under s o much pressure in the run up to the performance, he snapped and destroye d his equipment.
Bonham admits he can now look back on his moment of madness and see the funny side - likening it to a scene from rock parody movie This Is Spina l Tap.
He tells Nightwatcher’s House Of Rock, "My biggest Spinal Tap moment wa s a stupid one as well. When we were rehearsing for the Zeppelin O2 gig, I was having an argument with my drum pedals. I actually took them outsid e, and drove over them several times with the car. Shouting at them and t elling them they’ll never work again. That would have to be the stupidest one that I could think of."

RASCAL PAYS TRIBUTE TO BRITISH DJ

Rapper DIZZEE RASCAL has paid tribute to tragic British DJ GIFFORD NOEL w ho was found dead at his apartment in Tenerife, Spain on his 32nd birthda y.
The star, who worked under the names TNT and DJ Trend and found fame co llaborating with Rascal and the Sugababes, was due to celebrate the occas ion with friends last Friday (17Sep10).
But when pals arrived at his home, they found his body in his bedroom. Spanish police have since claimed the star died of natural causes.
Rascal, who is a judge on British TV talent show Must Be The Music, use d an appearance on the series to pay tribute to his late pal, wearing a t -shirt with the slogan ‘RIP DJ Trend’ and telling viewers, "I have got to say rest in peace DJ Trend, never forgotten, drum and bass specialist, l egend. I come up on this man (sic). He’s just been one of my inspirations as a youth. Can’t forget this dude."

YEAH YEAH YEAHS HOST SECRET 10TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW

U.S. rockers the YEAH YEAH YEAHS surprised fans in New York on Wednesday night (22Sep10) by hosting a secret gig to mark their 10th year as a band ..
The Maps hitmakers formed in the Big Apple in 2000 and to celebrate the anniversary, the trio performed an impromptu set at Brooklyn’s Secret Pr oject Robot venue.
Tickets for the gig, which saw the band play songs from the last decade , sold out within 30 minutes a day before the show (21Sep10).
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are reportedly planning to host a series of other s mall gigs around the city to mark their 10 years in the industry. (KD/WNW

LAMB OF GOD CANCEL MEXICO CONCERT

Heavy metal band LAMB OF GOD have cancelled a concert in Monterrey, Mexic o after promoters allegedly failed to "fulfill their obligations".
The rockers were due to perform in the city on 6 October (10) but they have now pulled out of the show, insisting they wouldn’t have been "prese nted in a professional way".
In a statement to their fans, the group’s publicist says, "Due to circu mstances outside of the band’s control, Lamb of God will not be able to p erform in Monterrey on October 6, 2010. While the band was anxiously look ing forward to play (sic) for their fans in Monterrey, the promoter did n ot fulfill their obligations in regards to the band’s fee, travel, or pro duction logistics. Therefore, the band did not feel the show would be pre sented in a professional way for the band’s performance or for their fans ..
"The band apologises to all of the people that purchased tickets to the show and promises to return in the future to play. The show in Mexico Ci ty on October 5 will go on as scheduled."

BANTON ‘MADE UP’ DRUGS CLAIMS

Reggae star BUJU BANTON has taken the stand in his ongoing drugs trial to deny allegations he attempted to buy cocaine from an undercover law enfo rcement officer - insisting he lied about ambitions to deal illegal subst ances to "impress" his new pal.
The Jamaican musician is on trial in Florida after he was allegedly cau ght trying to buy drugs last summer (09).
He has denied charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribut e cocaine and aiding and abetting two others in possessing a firearm duri ng the course of distribution.
But when he took the stand this week (beg20Sep10), Banton claimed under cover officer Alexander Johnson struck up a conversation about drugs with him and he boasted about fake plans to become a dealer in a bid to "impr ess" the informant, who he believed had good contacts in the music indust ry.
He told the Florida court, "I was trying to impress this guy. I wasn’t going to let him out talk me. That’s what got me into this hot seat…
"I was just talking straight up garbage. I liked hanging out with Mr. J ohnson. He could talk all he wanted to talk, but I wasn’t going to engage in it." Banton also alleges he was surprised when he was later presented with t he cocaine at a videotaped meeting last December (10), because he hadn’t thought the deal was for real.
He added "I didn’t know I was going to see any drugs. And if I had know n I was going to see drugs, I wouldn’t have gone." Stephen Marley, the son of late music legend Bob Marley, previously too k the stand as a character witness for Banton, insisting he has known the star for 20 years and he has "never" heard his friend discuss drugs, acc ording to Tampabay.com.
The case continues.

BONHAM: ‘DAD’S LEGACY DROVE ME TO DRINK’

JOHN BONHAM’s drummer son JASON was driven to drink as he wrestled with c omparisons to his late famous father.
The legendary Led Zeppelin star passed away in 1980 when his son was ju st 14 years old, and after taking up his dad’s profession as a percussion ist, Bonham admits he was haunted by the star’s intimidating legacy.
The 44-year-old Foreigner rocker admits he used alcohol as a means of e scape and has only been able to step out of his dad’s shadow since soberi ng up.
He tells Nightwatcher’s House Of Rock, "At a certain point of my life, it (the comparisons) increased my drinking. I think you can get very bitt er and twisted. In my sobriety, though, I’ve accepted it. You can’t avoid it, you know? It’s something that will always be there. Yes, it can be a hindrance, but it’s also a blessing. In my sobriety, though, the idea is that I just embrace it. You just become happy that you’re associated wit h that kind of legacy… I’m very honoured to play, and to be compared wi th him at any level. It’s fantastic."

VALLI TO DROP COPYRIGHT CASE AGAINST JERSEY BOYS

FRANKIE VALLI will drop his attempts to ban four former castmembers of Br oadway hit JERSEY BOYS from performing THE FOUR SEASONS songs on tour - o n condition the group changes its name.
Valli, the frontman of The Four Seasons, filed suit against theatre sin ger/actors Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard and J. Rober t Spencer in April (10), claiming they were illegally using elements of t he group’s musical in their own show The Boys in Concert.
Valli alleged the foursome stole songs, stage elements and copyrighted logos to trick ticketholders into thinking the touring group was an "auth orised road company" of the long-running theatre production.
The veteran singer demanded $150,000 (=C2=A3100,000) in compensation fo r each of the 10 songs performed in The Boys in Concert show, in addition to all of its profits, and damages for unfair competition and copyright infringement.
The four actors challenged the accusations in a countersuit, insisting they are entitled to sing the Four Seasons tracks as part of a medley of hits from the same era. But the sides have now reached an agreement.
According to the New York Post, Valli will give The Boys in Concert 30 days to come up with a new name that doesn’t "trade off of" the Broadway hit to avoid going to court.

MINAJ TAKING LEGAL ACTION OVER CONCERT ‘SCAM’

Rapper NICKI MINAJ is taking legal action against promoters who allegedly "scammed" her fans with a fake concert in Michigan.
The Your Love hitmaker was shocked when a devotee sent her a message on Twitter.com with a picture of a huge crowd queueing to see her perform a show at Michigan State University (MSU).
Minaj insisted she knew nothing about the gig and has vowed to track do wn those responsible and take them to court.
In a series of ‘tweets’, she writes, "What is this I’m hearing about a MSU concert? Where and when is this concert supposed to be? I feel so bad 4 ppl (for people) who were scammed. For the record. I’m not doing any s hows between now and the 22nd of October. Wen (sic) shows r (are) confirm ed I’ll let u guys know. I’m sorry.
"Wen (sic) I find out the person responsible for this MSU scam I’m putt ing their name on Twitter. Scamming college kids? Go to hell! Our legal t eams are working. There are way more schools that were scammed. We are wo rking to put an end to this. Thank you."

GERVAIS BACKS MONKEY CAMPAIGN

RICKY GERVAIS is backing a campaign to stamp out the trade in baby monkey s for laboratory research, branding the practice "shameful" and "disgusti ng".
Officials at the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) are calling for an end to the international industry, claiming thousands of wild primates are taken from their families every year for export to r esearch centres.
And animal-loving funnyman Gervais is adding weight to their Stop the B aby Trade campaign by donning a BUAV and urging his fans to publicise the issue.
He says, "Imprisoning monkeys and snatching their babies is a disgustin g way to treat other primates. Monkeys are highly intelligent beings who feel pain and distress, just like us… Please support the BUAV to end th is shameful cruelty. We must Stop the Baby Trade."

LOST STARS REUNITE FOR NEW SHOW

LOST creator J.J. ABRAMS is reuniting two of the show’s stars MICHAEL EME RSON and TERRY O’QUINN for a new TV series.
The mystery drama came to an end earlier this year (10) after six seaso ns and Abrams is already planning his next small screen project.
He has created a new, currently-untitled show and has hired Lost’s O’Qu inn, who played John Locke, and Emerson, who won an Emmy Award for his po rtrayal of Benjamin Linus.
The pair became close friends while working together on the show and Em erson recently admitted the days he spent working with O’Quinn were "some of the best of my career".
The actor confirmed his involvement in the new show in a statement to A ccess Hollywood: "I’m thrilled to be involved with Warner Bros., J.J. Abr ams, Bad Robot, NBC and the incredible team… on this new venture. I’m a bsolutely delighted to be given the chance to work with Terry once again, and we’re all very excited to get started."

AUSTRALIAN CROCODILE HUNTER DOUGLAS DIES IN CAR CRASH

Australian TV crocodile hunter MALCOLM DOUGLAS has been killed in a car c rash.
The 69 year old, whose documentaries are said to have been a precursor to the work of tragic TV star Steve Irwin, died after his car ploughed in to a tree at an animal sanctuary he set up in Western Australia.
Douglas - also known as the Barefoot Bushman - shot to fame in the 1970 s following the broadcast of his first film, Across The Top, which docume nted his six-month trip around Australia.
He went on to make more than 50 documentaries throughout his long-runni ng TV career.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Valerie, and two adult children. (LR/W

JOHANSSON’S BLACK WIDOW MOVIE MOVES FORWARD

Hollywood bosses have confirmed they are in talks to give SCARLETT JOHANS SON her own superhero movie by bringing the BLACK WIDOW back to the big s creen in a solo outing.
The actress made her debut as the sexy superspy in this year’s (10) Iro n Man 2 and will reprise her role for The Avengers film, an ensemble pict ure featuring a star-studded cast including Robert Downey, Jr., Samuel L.
Jackson and Mark Ruffalo.
And Johansson could be slipping back into costume once again as executi ves at Marvel Studios make plans for a Black Widow movie after the releas e of The Avengers.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige told reporters at a press conference, " We’ve already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but The Avengers comes fi rst." Johansson previously admitted she "would be happy to don the cat suit a gain and, you know, carry the torch" in her own superhero blockbuster.
The Avengers is slated for a summer 2012 release.

JUDGE JUDY: ‘LOHAN NEEDS TO BE LOCKED UP’

U.S. TV star ‘JUDGE’ JUDY SHEINDLIN has called for LINDSAY LOHAN to be th rown back in jail, insisting the troubled actress needs a "dose of realit y".
Sheindlin, a former family court judge and the star of Judge Judy, has blasted the decision to release Lohan from prison after serving just 14 d ays of her 90-day sentence for violating her probation.
The star has since failed a court-ordered drug test and will discover o n Friday (24Sep10) if she will be sent back to jail.
And the TV judge insists Lohan will never recover until she spends a pr olonged period of time behind bars.
Sheindlin says, "When the justice system says it’s going to do somethin g and it doesn’t follow through with it, it sends out a dangerous message ..
"Lindsay Lohan, I think has to be given a dose of reality I don’t think she has been living in the real world for a long time.
"Most people stop using drugs in jail. If you’re in jail for three mont hs, nobody is going to get Lindsay Lohan drugs in jail. And there is help there."
