THE CLASH star MICK JONES has offered to help anyone spearheading a campa ign to save fabled London venue the 100 Club.
The guitarist has expressed his sadness about reports the former punk M ecca will close at Christmas (10) if the current owner doesn’t get a rent break.
Jones has special memories of the place - he performed there with The C lash and the Sex Pistols in 1976 at an event that launched the punk movem ent.
But the 100 Club has hit hard times and current owner Jeff Horton insis ts he’ll have to close the venue down at the end of 2010 if he doesn’t ge t a break in spiralling rent.
Jones hopes it doesn’t come to that, telling Spinner.com, "I’m sorry to hear it might be closing. It will be greatly missed if it closes. Someon e should start a campaign to save it.
"If someone’s going to do something and I’m available then I’d love to help."

Headlining this weekend’s (25-26Sep10) Epicenter Twenty Ten festival in F ontana, California will be extra special for BLINK-182 star TRAVIS BARKER because he attended the local high school.
The drummer and his band will play their only U.S. show of the year on Sunday night (26Sep10) when they hit the stage at the two-day event, and Barker admits he’s excited about going home.
The Fontana native says, "I lived there up until the time I was 16 or 1 7… I have memories of being in band at Fontana Junior High, entering hi gh school and drum line and going into jazz band - a lot of good and bad memories.
"Back then, my only goal was to make enough money to eat and have somew here to live and play drums. It was good to grow up there… My family st ill lives in the area so I’m always out there visiting them." Blink-182 will close the festival, which will also be headlined by Emin em, House of Pain, Kiss and Suicidal Tendencies.

Singer/songwriter REGINA SPEKTOR is to headline a benefit concert in New York for her tragic cellist.
Daniel Cho drowned in Lake Geneva, Switzerland on the eve of a performa nce with Spektor at the Montreux Jazz Festival in July (10).
A distraught Spektor dedicated her set to Cho the following day.
She’ll be joined by the musician’s former band Cooper at the tribute sh ow, which will take place at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on Mon day (27Sep10).
Proceeds will benefit the cellist’s family.
As well as working with Spektor and Cooper, Cho arranged for and played with Coldplay and Katy Perry, among others.

TAYLOR SWIFT and LIONEL RITCHIE were among the stars who turned out to pe rform at a fundraising concert for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Mus eum in Los Angeles on Thursday night (23Sep10).
The singers were joined by country veterans Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris and Kris Kristofferson who all took turns to sing at the All For The Hall benefit.
Ritchie thrilled the audience with his hit-packed set, which included h is anthem Hello, while Swift delighted fans with renditions of 15 and The Best Day - a track dedicated to her mother.
The event was hosted by Gill, who joked to the crowd about Swift’s ever -increasing popularity.
He said, "We were smart enough to invite the kid… We dig her because she sold all the tickets."

British rockers RADIOHEAD are meeting on Monday (27Sep10) to discuss whet her they should "throw out" their new album and start again because they aren’t completely happy with their new material.
The Creep hitmakers have spent the last year working on a follow-up to 2007’s In Rainbows, but drummer Philip Selway admits the group is unsure whether to release the new songs or ditch them all and start recording ag ain from scratch.
And the band will meet up next week (27Sep10) to discuss the issue.
Selway says, "We’ve been working on material on and off for a year now and we’ve had the summer off so yes, we’re basically taking stock on Mond ay and seeing what we need to do with the material to move it to those fi nal stages. We’re just returning to it with fresh ears and taking stock o f where we are and how close we are to finishing stuff, really, and we wo n’t know till Monday…
"You never know, we might get back together on Monday and after discuss ing stuff we might just throw this all out and say maybe we need to go ba ck to the drawing board. Who knows, as I say, it’s all up in the air at t he moment."

AMERICAN IDOL runner-up CRYSTAL BOWERSOX is engaged to marry her new boyf riend just months after her former partner dumped her on the eve of the t alent show finale.
The singer finished second to Lee DeWyze in May (10) and revealed short ly afterwards that her partner Tony Kusian ended their relationship just hours before she was due to take the stage.
Bowersox has now put the heartbreak behind her by announcing her engage ment to her new love, musician Brian Walker.
And the new couple can’t wait to exchange vows - they are planning to m arry as early as next month (Oct10), according to People.com.

Funnyman-turned-U.S. game show king DREW CAREY is living life to the full after losing more than 70 pounds (31.7 kilograms) - because now he’s con vinced he’s going to live past 60.
The former heavyweight The Price is Right host, 52, admits he always fe lt sure he’d die before his 60th - and now he can’t believe how good life is.
He tells the upcoming issue of Parade magazine, "The hardest diet I was ever on was the one when I was fat. You can only wear fat clothes, you d on’t feel good, your sex life gets damaged, you don’t have energy for any thing. It’s horrible.
"I always thought I was going to die before I was 60. My father died of a heart attack in his 40s. I’m not an idiot. The writing was on the wall …. I look in the mirror and I feel like I’m in my 20s again. I feel like I have my whole life back. I could live to be 100 now." Now weighing in at 185 pounds (83.9 kilograms), Carey has set himself t he goal of losing another 15 pounds (6.8 kilograms) by Halloween (31Oct10 ).
And he tells Parade his drastic weightloss was sparked by the onset of diabetes and the fact he couldn’t keep up with fiancee Nicole Jaracz’s fi ve-year-old son Connor.
Carey explains, "I’d be like, ‘Connor, I can’t,’ and he’d say, ‘C’mon d ad!’ That was a terrible feeling. I thought, ‘I’m never going to see him graduate high school.’" And he has promised himself and brother Roger, another super slimmer, t hat he won’t pile the pounds back on - after they attended the funeral of their sibling Neal, who suffered a heart attack earlier this summer, age d 64.
He reveals, "I felt like I could have been attending my own funeral." In August (10), the comedian completed a 10 kilometre (6.2 mile) charit y run and now he has his sights set on a marathon.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star TERI HATCHER has been forced to wear false eyel ashes after a grooming session with a razor went drastically wrong.
The actress was tidying up her eyebrows the night before she took part in the recent Nautica Malibu Triathlon in California, but the blade slipp ed and sliced through her lashes.
Hatcher admits she was tired when she tried to clean up her appearance and she’s lucky she didn’t cut her eye.
She says, "I had one of those mini razors and so I (placed it on my bro w) and in this millisecond I heard this sound, and I’d shaved off half of my eyelashes!" American comedian STEPHEN COLBERT brought some laughs to Capitol Hill on Friday (24Sep10) by appearing in front of a Congress committee in charact er to discuss immigrant farm workers.
The funnyman, who portrays a fake right-wing political pundit on his Co medy Central news show The Colbert Report, was invited to testify in fron t of the immigration subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee in Was hington, D.C.
The subject of discussion was the number of migrant workers who are emp loyed in America, and Colbert couldn’t resist throwing in a few jokes.
He told the committee, "America’s farms are presently far too dependent on immigrant labour to pick our fruits and vegetables… Now, the obviou s answer is for all of us to stop eating fruits and vegetables. And if yo u look at the recent obesity statistics, many Americans have already star ted." But many members were not impressed with the comedian’s performance, wi th Republican Congressman Steve King blasting the decision to bring in Co lbert.
He said, "Maybe we should be spending less time watching Comedy Central and more time considering all the real jobs that are out there." HEATHER LOCKLEAR is wiping clean her marriage to BON JOVI rocker RICHIE S AMBORA - she has filed court papers to revert back to her maiden name.
The actress divorced the guitarist back in 2007 after 12 years of marri age, but on her official documents she is still called Heather Deen Sambo ra.
She filed a request at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday (24S ep10) for her name to be legally changed back to Heather Locklear.

DAVID BECKHAM has followed through with his threat to sue editors at a U.
S. magazine for publishing a series of shocking claims about his sex life - his attorneys have kicked off a massive international legal battle by filing a lawsuit in Los Angeles.
The soccer star was thrust into the spotlight this week (beg20Sep10) af ter America’s In Touch Weekly published a story from former prostitute Ir ma Nici, who alleged Beckham hired her services in 2007.
Beckham vehemently denied the allegations in a statement and threatened to sue over the "completely untrue and totally ridiculous" claims.
His legal team has now taken aim at the publishing company behind the m agazine, filing papers at Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday (24Sep10) accusing executives at Bauer Publishing of knowingly reporting false clai ms about his private life.
The lawsuit cites libel, slander and intentional infliction of emotiona l distress and also names 26-year-old Nici as a defendant.

LINDSAY LOHAN has defied the odds again and is set to be released from ja il overnight after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge overturned a decisi on to put the actress back behind bars.
Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told the media Lohan would have to s erve the full 30 days she was sentenced to for failing two drug tests and violating her probation on Friday (24Sep10), but reports suggest the Mea n Girls star has already left Lynwood correctional facility after just 10 hours.
Shortly after her latest jail stint began, Whitmore told the press, "Ms .. Lohan cannot be released early because this isn’t a jail sentence. She’ s being held by court order until her hearing." But her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley appealed Judge Elden S. Fox’s sur prise decision to remand the actress in custody without bail until her 22 October (10) hearing, and another Superior Court judge, Patricia M. Schn egg, has ruled the original sentence was legally incorrect because it inv olved a probation violation for a misdemeanour conviction - and bail shou ld have been an option.
Thanks to the updated decision, Lohan was allowed to walk free after po sting $300,000 (GBP200,000) bail.
It’s the third time Lohan has served a fraction of her sentence at Lynw ood - earlier this year (10), she spent just 13 days of a 90-day sentence behind bars.
TMZ.com reports Lohan will be fitted with another alcohol-monitoring br acelet this weekend (25-26Sep10) under the terms of her release and she w on’t be allowed to associate with known drug users. She’ll also be subjec ted to random searches.

Goth rocker NICK CAVE has penned the score for actor GISLI ORN GAROARSSON ’s ambitious new stage adaptation of FAUST.
Cave’s latest musical creation will be heard when the production opens at London’s Young Vic this weekend (25Sep10).
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time star Garoarsson, the director of th e piece, says, "It was really inspiring working with Nick Cave and his vi olinist Warren Ellis and seeing how they work. They are the perfect recip e for this play because it’s so rock ‘n’ roll and the music is very theat rical." The production marks the third time the trio have worked together - Cav e and Ellis also scored the soundtrack to Garoarsson’s plays Metamorphosi s and Woyzeck.

PIXIES star BLACK FRANCIS is to launch his rock opera BLUEFINGER: THE FAL L & RISE OF HERMAN BROOD in Houston, Texas in November (10).
The cult indie rocker’s latest venture will open at the The Catastrophi c Theatre and will be co-produced with leading members of the University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance.
Bluefinger was inspired by the critically acclaimed 2007 Black Francis album of the same name.
The concept album focuses entirely on the life and death of Herman Broo d, a Dutch artist, rocker and junkie who leaped to his death from the roo f of the Amsterdam Hilton in 2001.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE narrowly dodged a red carpet disaster on Friday night ( 24Sep10) when a TV cameraman dropped a microphone boom dangerously close to the singer/actor’s head at the New York premiere of his new movie THE SOCIAL NETWORK.

But ever the professional, the SexyBack hitmaker refused to let the clo se call disrupt his interviews and he continued on to promote the picture , which also stars Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield.
