THE CHARLATANS paid tribute to their cancer-stricken drummer JON BROOKES at a charity gig on Monday night (27Sep10) by dedicating a song to the pe rcussionist.
The British band cancelled a string of shows in the U.S. after Brookes collapsed at a concert in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania earlier this month ( 15Sep10).
He was later diagnosed with brain cancer and former The Verve star Pete Salisbury has since been drafted in to take his place after the band vow ed to continue touring.
The new line-up was unveiled at a charity gig in London on Monday - and the group took the opportunity to address Brookes’ health problems.
Singer Tim Burgess told the crowd at the Oxjam gig, "It’s been a funny couple of weeks. This next one is for Jon. It is called ‘My Foolish Pride ‘." He later added, "I just want to say thanks to Pete Salisbury." (KD/WNWC
