DOUGLAS DOESN’T LEAD AN ‘EXTRAVAGANT’ LIFESTYLE
MICHAEL DOUGLAS is adamant he lives modestly compared to other millionair es - insisting he and his wife CATHERINE ZETA-JONES are "not extravagant" with their money.
The actor owns homes in Bermuda and New York, as well as other properti es in Spain and the Turks and Caicos islands, but admits he was stunned b y the wealth displayed by some bankers while he was researching new movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
And Douglas insists his own lavish lifestyle pales in comparison to som e wealthy citizens’.
He tells Britain’s Live magazine, "One of these guys (bankers) has a mo torcycle that costs a million dollars that is flown all around the world with him. These guys go shooting in Spain, they have the Vertu $70,000 mo bile phone. Right now they’re into G5 Gulfstream jets - some have more th an one….
"I don’t own a plane - we rent. In the summer we’ll charter a boat for the family. I am not extravagant… We don’t throw many parties…" But Douglas concedes the only time he does spend money unwisely is when he is picking out presents for his wife.
He adds, "I am always buying her something. Catherine loves antique jew ellery."
