FOLLOWILL AD-LIBBED KINGS LYRICS
KINGS OF LEON frontman CALEB FOLLOWILL felt like a fraud during work on t he band’s new album COME AROUND SUNDOWN because he ad-libbed the lyrics t o most of the songs.
The singer didn’t write any words to the tracks, preferring instead to improvise during the group’s recording sessions.
Followill insists he intended to go back and change the lyrics to somet hing more meaningful, but the move was vetoed by his bandmates who liked the songs as they were.
He tells Uncut magazine, "I didn’t write lyrics. I went in and ad-libbe d, I free-floated everything. The closer it got to the end, I felt like, ‘Man, you didn’t do your job.’ "I kept thinking, ‘When I go back and redo the lyrics, then I’ll get it ‘. But when I went back in to try to do that, everyone was like, ‘What ar e you doing? You can’t change those lyrics. Those are the lyrics.’" (LR/N
