COLLINS DEFENDS SWITZERLAND MOVE
British rocker PHIL COLLINS has defended his decision to live in tax-have n Switzerland - insisting he moved to ensure his third wife could stay cl ose to her ailing father.
The former Genesis star wed Orianne Cevey in 1999 and they settled in a palatial property overlooking Lake Geneva with their two young sons, Nic holas and Matthew.
Despite their marriage breakdown in 2006, Collins still lives in the ar ea - and he’s adamant his decision to stay in Switzerland has nothing to do with the low rates of tax in the country.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "There’s all these comments, ‘Why do y ou live in Switzerland?’ People still say, ‘Oh, the tax is good here.’ "I moved here to Switzerland because I fell in love with Orianne. She l ived here. Sure I could have made her move to England but I can do whatev er I do here.
"Her father was dying of cancer, and her grandmother and grandfather we re dying from cancer. So I wasn’t going to pull her away from them. So th at’s why I live here. And the only reason I still live here is because my sons are here."
