AFFLECK PURSUED POSTLETHWAITE FOR THE TOWN
BEN AFFLECK relentlessly pursued PETE POSTLETHWAITE until he agreed to st ar in THE TOWN - because the moviemaker knew the British actor was perfec t for a particular role in the thriller.
The 38 year old wrote, directed and stars as a young criminal ready to change his life in the new movie, which topped the U.S. box office over t he weekend (18-19Sep10) with $23.8 million (=C2=A315.9 million) in earnin gs.
He had his sights set on Postlethwaite to play crime boss Fergie the Fl orist - and carried on calling the star until he accepted the job.
Affleck says, "I had to call Pete five times, as he kept turning me dow n - I had to accommodate him because I knew how great he was." But there was one film star the moviemaker didn’t have to ask twice to appear in the film.
Rebecca Hall reveals, "I didn’t need any persuasion. It was a no-braine r. The Town is a classic, old-fashioned good yarn."
