THE CHARLATANS POSTPONE TOUR
THE CHARLATANS have axed the remainder of their U.S. tour after drummer J ON BROOKES collapsed during a concert on Wednesday night (15Sep10).
The British rockers were performing at the Johnny Brenda’s venue in Phi ladelphia, Pennsylvania when Brookes keeled over onstage, prompting the band to cut short the set and call for medics.
The percussionist is alleged to have stopped breathing and was taken to the nearby St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he underwent treatment and tests for the mystery ailment.
He has since returned to the U.K. to continue his recovery and as a res ult, the group has postponed all remaining tour dates.
A spokesperson for the band says, "The Charlatans are very upset at not being able to continue the tour but hope to reschedule the dates as soon as possible." It is The Charlatans’ second North American tour to be affected by Broo kes’ health problems - they had to scrap a string of gigs last year (09) after he was advised to undergo surgery on his shoulder.
