TUNSTALL’S COMEDY TURN

Singer KT TUNSTALL showed off her comedy credentials in Scotland this wee k (begs16Aug10) with a surprise appearance at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival ..
The Suddenly I See hitmaker donned wacky headgear and improvised funny rhyming songs for the audience at the annual event, which is held every y ear as part of the city’s summer of arts and entertainment.
She also treated the crowd to a performance of new track Still A Weirdo from her upcoming album Tiger Suit.
Tunstall tells the Daily Record newspaper, "That was hilarious. This is an outrageous sweatbox of a place and I am very hot indeed. I was just k ind of hoping the rhyming couplets were going to rhyme and there were a c ouple of moments where it definitely didn’t."

SEX PISTOLS LAUNCH FRAGRANCE

Legendary rockers the SEX PISTOLS have bottled the scent of the punk era by launching the band’s first fragrance.
The group has teamed up with French beauty brand Etat Libre D’Orange to create a self-titled scent, which is described as "the spirit of punk" i n a bottle.
The perfume, which is launched this summer (10), comes in packaging ins pired by the Sex Pistols’ hit track God Save the Queen.
A statement from executives at the fragrance company reads, "To wear th is scent, you must resist tradition, fight conformity, and disregard arom atic conventions. In the spirit of punk, you must be willing to express y ourself with abandon. You take risks and you wouldn’t be adverse to creat ing a little mayhem."

NEWLYWED DUFF FOUND VOWS ONLINE

HILARY DUFF turned to the internet for inspiration for her wedding vows - "picking and choosing" sentiments from other couples’ nuptials.
The singer/actress became Mrs. Mike Comrie on Saturday (14Aug10) and th e pair looked online for the perfect vows to compliment their big day.
Duff tells America’s OK! magazine, =E2=80=9CWe didn=E2=80=99t write our vows word for word. I researched on the internet for three days! I read (about) other people=E2=80=99s ceremonies, picking and choosing what I li ked. We choose a few poems and a ring blessing. I really feel that it=E2=80 =99s our own.=E2=80=9D

MY RUIN CANCEL TOUR

Rockers MY RUIN have axed their upcoming September (10) tour due to "circ umstances beyond their control".
The band was due to play dates in its native Los Angeles, as well as sh ows in London and across Europe, but they have now scrapped all the conce rts.
No reason was given for the cancellation, but a statement form the grou p apologises to fans and insists they did "everything within our power to prevent this from happening." The statement reads, "It’s with heavy hearts and deep regret due to cir cumstances beyond our control we are being forced to postpone and resched ule our LA & London shows as well as our European tour dates. This is all we can tell you as we are unable to go into the details of this decision at this time…
"This is the first time in the 10 year history of our band that we have had to cancel a tour not to mention two very special shows in LA & Londo n… We are both sorry about this situation and hope you will understand that we did everything within our power to prevent this from happening." The shows will be rescheduled for 2011 and fans will receive refunds fo r the cancelled concerts.

KINGS OF LEON TURN DOWN GLEE AND UGLY BETTY

Rockers KINGS OF LEON turned down guest appearances in UGLY BETTY and GLE E over fears they would be accused of "selling out".
TV bosses behind Ugly Betty once approached the group and asked them to appear as themselves in a special episode, while the producers of Glee w anted to theme a one-off episode around the band’s music.
But bassist Jared Followill admits they rejected both opportunities in a bid to retain their integrity.
He tells Britain’s NME.com, "We got an offer to appear on an episode of Ugly Betty. They wanted us to play ourselves. We were supposed to come i n and help her out with some problem or other.
"We could have sold out so much more. We turn stuff down constantly." Asked about a request from the producers of Glee, he adds: "I’ve never seen that show. Apparently everyone loves it. We had some people call us up wanting to know if we’d allow Use Somebody to appear in the trailer…
I was like, ‘Man, don’t even waste your energy.’"

ALLEN HAS WHIPLASH FROM FALL

LILY ALLEN’s health woes are mounting - the singer been diagnosed with pa inful whiplash after her fall at a restaurant.
The pregnant star was left red-faced on Tuesday (17Aug10) after she sli pped in the lobby of London’s plush Wolseley eaterie following a breakfas t meeting to discuss her proposed designer clothes store.
Smile hitmaker Allen was convinced she had suffered only a bruised wris t in the tumble - but after waking up in agony on Wednesday morning (18Au g10) she visited her doctor, who diagnosed the neck injury.
In a post on her Twitter.com blog, Allen writes, "Owwwwwcch. My neck hu rts… Still not funny. My neck hurts a lot… At the docs. It’s whiplash from my fall yesterday! Oh deary me."

DUFF’S DENTIST DASH ON WEDDING DAY

Singer/actress HILARY DUFF spent the morning of her wedding at the dentis t after accidentally chipping her tooth.
The star wed ice hockey player Mike Comrie in front of friends and fami ly at an intimate ceremony in Santa Barbara, California on Saturday eveni ng (14Aug10).
But the day was disrupted from the beginning after Duff had an untimely accident.

FOLLOWILL SORRY FOR SEX ON FIRE COMMENTS

KINGS OF LEON frontman CALEB FOLLOWILL regrets his scathing comments abou t the band’s massive hit SEX ON FIRE - insisting he’s "ashamed" of the in cident.
The rocker stunned fans in a recent interview when he described the gro up’s breakthrough song as a "piece of s**t" and slammed their new batch o f supporters as "not f**king cool".
But he now rues his remarks, and admits he was "scared" with the level of fame Sex on Fire had brought the band.
Followill tells British rock magazine NME, "For a while there, I turned into someone I wasn’t proud of. I wasn’t appreciative of the admiration we were getting, and I said some things that I’m ashamed of. STARR’S HOME FACING DEMOLITION

BEATLES fans are fuming over plans to demolish the house in Liverpool, En gland where RINGO STARR was born.
The drummer was welcomed into the world on 7 July 1940 in a house on Ma dryn Street in the band’s famous hometown.
The property first came under threat in 2005, when Starr himself spoke out against plans to knock the building down.
It has stood empty for five years while local politicians have disagree d over what to do with the musician’s birthplace, but now a demolition no tice has been posted on the street, leading to fears the historic home wi ll be lost forever.
Philip Coppell, who has worked as an official Beatles tour guide in the city for more than 20 years, has branded local council chiefs "idiots" a nd insists the building should be handed over to Britain’s National Trust organisation for preservation.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mail, "Whoever has approved this are complete idiots. The National Trust run Paul McCartney and John Lennon’s homes as tourist attractions and people come from all over the world to see them.
"Now they are planning to demolish the very building that Ringo was bor n in. It’s sheer lunacy… If it’s knocked down - even if it is moved - f ans all over the world are going to be up in arms. They will just not und erstand how Liverpool can carry out this kind of cultural vandalism. What the council is proposing to do is nothing short of criminal and they wil l be convicted in the court of international public opinion if they go ah ead with it." A spokesman for Liverpool City Council says, "This is part of a multi-p hase project, which is going to run for some years. Number 9 Madryn Stree t is under no immediate threat of demolition. We have given special consi deration to this building and we are currently in discussions with Nation al Museums Liverpool regarding the potential for its preservation." (LR/W

WEST DOESN’T HAVE TO ATTEND KNIGHT COURT BATTLE

A judge in Florida has given permission for KANYE WEST to skip a mediatio n hearing as part of his ongoing legal battle with MARION ‘SUGE’ KNIGHT - but the rapper will have to take part in the session by phone.
The Stronger hitmaker is embroiled in a long-running dispute with the h ip-hop mogul, who sued West over claims he was shot and robbed at a party hosted by the rapper in Miami, Florida in 2005.
Knight alleges the star should have provided better security checks to stop a gun being smuggled into the venue.
The pair was scheduled to face-off in a mediation meeting on 26 August (10) in a bid to resolve the case, but West’s lawyers insisted the rapper was unable to attend due to a long-standing business commitment abroad.
A judge at Miami Federal Court has now granted West permission to miss the mediation as long as he takes part by phone.

CHRISTENSEN FILLS HIS FARM WITH ANIMALS

HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN is determined to turn his sprawling estate in Canada i nto a truly rural retreat - he has filled his farm with sheep in a bid to market his own wool.
The actor owns a 200-acre estate close to Toronto in his native Canada, which boasts hay fields and a small vegetable garden, and he has started filling the land with animals, including two pigs and a dozen sheep.
Christensen, 29, admits he would like to start producing wool and is ev en considering buying some Alpacas.
He tells U.S. TV host Jimmy Kimmel, "I don’t have Alpacas yet but I’ve got about a dozen sheep and they just wander around. I have a few bags of wool that are waiting to be tackled!"

JOLIE HOPING TO IMPRESS KIDS WITH ACTION MOVIES

ANGELINA JOLIE can’t wait for her young children to grow up - so they can watch her movies and realise she isn’t "totally stupid".
The actress admits her eldest son Maddox, nine, is unimpressed with her lack of skills when dealing with modern technology - so she’s eager for the day he is old enough to watch her action films and see where her tale nts really lie.
She tells Germany’s Glamour magazine, "A mum can’t be cool from her kid s’ point of view. Maddox, our oldest, beats me at every video game and is totally disappointed in me. To him I’m a dumb-a** who’s no good at compu ters.
"I hope he will watch my films one day; then maybe he’ll see his mum is n’t totally stupid."

GALIFIANAKIS DRAWS CROWDS AT BOOK READING

Hundreds of movie fans descended on a small public library in North Carol ina on Tuesday (17Aug10) when ZACH GALIFIANAKIS held a children’s book re ading.
The Hangover star signed up to read to kids in his hometown of Wilkes C ounty, North Carolina but news of his appearance spread and the event was swamped with crowds eager to catch a glimpse of their idol.
More than 500 people turned up and Galifianakis joked with the audience that he should just recite the script from his hit movie, before launchi ng into a reading of three children’s books, one of which was written by his father.
He told the audience, "I think that books, reading, are so very importa nt because they tell stories, and they let you into the story. I will sta rt with reading a book called The Hangover… No." Afterwards the actor spent two hours posing for photos and signing auto graphs before thanking police officers who remained on site to help contr ol the crowds, according to local newspaper the Winston-Salem Journal. DUCHOVNY’S STAGE REUNION WITH PEET

THE X-FILES actor DAVID DUCHOVNY is to be reunited with his former co-sta r AMANDA PEET onstage - they have signed up to appear in a New York theat re show together.
The pair shared screen time in the sci-fi series’ spin off movie The X- Files: I Want To Believe, in 2008, and now they are set to work together again in an off-Broadway production of Neil LaBute’s new play, The Break of Noon.
The show, which opens on October 28 (10), will kick off the MCC Theater ’s 25th run of productions, and is expected to transfer to Los Angeles wh en its Big Apple residency ends in December (10).

CANCER-SUFFERER TAVAREZ RECOVERING FROM CRITICAL OPERATION

Young Broadway star SHANNON TAVAREZ is recovering in hospital following a potentially life-saving operation in her ongoing battle with leukaemia.
The 11-year-old actress, who played the young Nala in hit musical The L ion King, was forced to quit the show in April (10) after she was diagnos ed with acute leukaemia.
She has been in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant to survive, and stars including Alicia Keys, Rihanna and 50 Cent have all thrown thei r support behind her search for a suitable match, with the In Da Club sta r even registering himself as a potential donor.
A match for Tavarez could not be found, and she received an umbilical-c ord blood transplant at New York’s Cohen Children’s Medical Center on Tue sday (17Aug10).
The procedure was performed as an alternative to a bone marrow transpla nt but could be the key to saving her life.
A family friend tells the New York Post the young star will remain in h ospital under observation for an undefined period as doctors ensure her b ody does not reject the transplant.

BULLOCK SUPPORTING JAMES’ TEXAS MOVE

SANDRA BULLOCK has dismissed rumours she is unhappy with her ex-husband’s decision to move to Texas to be closer to the actress - insisting she "f ully supports" his relocation.
The Oscar-winner fled to Austin, Texas when news of James’ cheating sca ndal broke in March (10), and she has also been spending time at her prop erty in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The TV mechanic bought a new home in Austin shortly after the couple’s divorce was finalised this summer (10) so he could be closer to Bullock a nd her adopted son Louis, who was welcomed by the former couple before th eir split.
But Bullock is adamant rumours she disapproves of her former partner’s plans are not true.
She tells People.com, "I support Jesse in his move to Austin. We have b oth moved on with our lives and only want the best for each other. Anythi ng else that is said on my behalf is inaccurate."

CAAN INJURED IN FIVE-0 STUNT GONE WRONG

Actor SCOTT CAAN is recovering from knee surgery after suffering an injur y in a stunt for revamped U.S. TV action series HAWAII FIVE-0.
The 33-year-old actor, who stars as Detective Danny ‘Danno’ Williams in the remake of the 1960s and ’70s show, was flown from the Oahu set to Lo s Angeles last week (ends13Aug10) to undergo surgery on a torn ligament, reports the New York Post.
The operation was reportedly conducted as an outpatient procedure.
Network bosses are expecting Caan to return to the set this week (ends2 0Aug10), while writers have revamped the storyline to reflect his injury as they prepare for a planned premiere on 20 September (10).
A CBS spokesperson says, "Yes, his injury will be noted in the storylin e."

CAMPBELL ‘FACING $63,000 TAX BILL’

Beleaguered British supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL is facing a hefty tax bill in the U.S. over allegations she owes more that $63,000 (=C2=A342,000) in back payments.
Officials at America’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) filed a lien for allegedly unpaid income taxes on 28 July (10), just days before the embat tled beauty took the stand to testify at a war crimes trial in The Hague, Netherlands.
The lien, filed in New York City, is for $63,487 (=C2=A342,325) in deli nquent federal taxes dating back to 2009, according to the Detroit News.
Campbell has been in the spotlight in recent weeks after she was called to testify at the trial of former Liberian president Charles Taylor on 5 August (10) over allegations she accepted a ‘blood diamond’ from him aft er a dinner party in South Africa in 1997.
