The charity worker caught up in NAOMI CAMPBELL’s blood diamond scandal ha s quit his position at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.
The British supermodel testified at the war crimes trial of former Libe rian president Charles Taylor earlier this month (Aug10), admitting she r eceived a pouch of uncut gems after a dinner party hosted by Mandela in S outh Africa in 1997.

Ratcliffe held on to the stones for 13 years before handing them over t o police in South Africa following Campbell’s testimony. He has now resig ned from his position on the charity’s board.
A statement from the organisation reads, "Mr. Ratcliffe regrets his omi ssion to inform the chairperson, CEO and the rest of the board of trustee s of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund of his receipt of the uncut diamo nds until now. Mr. Ratcliffe has stated that he acted in what he sincerel y believed to be in (sic) the best interest of the charity." SIMMONS SUPPORTING GROUND ZERO MOSQUE PLANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

RUSSELL SIMMONS is backing plans to open a mosque close to the site of th e 9/11 terrorist atrocities in New York - insisting the building will hel p bond religious communities in the Big Apple.
Many residents in the city have been outraged by plans to erect a Musli m centre and mosque in Manhattan close to Ground Zero, the site of the Wo rld Trade Center where thousands of civilians perished in 2001.
Furious citizens are urging city officials to move the mosque to anothe r area, away from the site of the tragedy.
But hip-hop mogul Simmons, who is the chairman of the Foundation for Et hnic Understanding, is adamant officials should be allowed to go ahead wi th the project, because it will help promote religious tolerance.
He tells U.S. newsman Larry King, "This mosque is a replacement for one that’s been there since before there was a World Trade Center… They’ve been working on this project for four years. And recently, it’s been pol iticised…
"I think it’s critical that we recognise that we built this country on religious tolerance and on religious freedom. And so if we want to penali se the two billion Muslims because of the actions of a few, then we have to examine the way we look at each other and all religions. So I think it would be a terrible idea to move the mosque…
"After 9/11, with all the compassion that was given to us, we (American s) threw a lot of it away and I think now is an opportunity for us to tur n it around and promote a relationship with the Islamic world that makes good sense, not one that’s based in (sic) fear and ignorance." (LR/WNVKIN
