OSBOURNE TO SUE OVER TABLOID REPORT

SHARON OSBOURNE has threatened legal action against the editors of a U.S.
tabloid magazine over an article about her kids KELLY and JACK.
The rock matriarch is furious over the report in the latest issue of Am erica’s In Touch Weekly, due on news stands on Wednesday (25Aug10), which allegedly damages the pair’s "credibility" - and Osbourne is considering suing over the matter.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "In Touch Magazine is pr inting an untrue story about Kelly & Jack which affects their credibility and dignity. See you in court!" And the siblings, who have both battled addiction issues in the past, a re not pleased with the article either.
On her own Twitter page, Kelly adds: "(I’m) in shock that In Touch is p rinting a untrue story about (Jack) and I. Can’t believe it, we have both worked too hard on ourselves for this b.s. (bulls**t)" Jack writes: "So Intouch magazine is writing a bulls**t story about me and (Kelly). They’d better get their check (sic) books ready, cause I’m g oin to town!"

MICHAEL PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUGS AND DUI

Singer GEORGE MICHAEL was banned from the roads on Tuesday (24Aug10) afte r he admitted DUI and drug possession.
The former Wham! star was arrested last month (Jul10) after crashing hi s Range Rover into a photographic store near his home in Hampstead, north London.
A passing police patrol found the Careless Whisper hitmaker slumped at the wheel, sweating and breathing heavily, with the vehicle’s engine stil l running. He appeared unaware he had crashed and even tried to put the c ar in gear when cops arrived.
He was taken to a nearby police station, where officers found cannabis joints in his pocket. He was charged with possessing cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs. There was no evidence he had been drinking alcohol.
Michael attended a hearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court in nort h London on Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to both charges.
He was given a six-month interim driving ban and is due back in court f or sentencing next month (Sep10).

ADAMS’ ESTATE SUING OVER SALE OF ‘LOST WORKS’

Representatives for ANSEL ADAMS are suing a man who has allegedly been se lling prints he claims were taken by the legendary photographer.
Officials at the Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trust launched the lawsu it in the U.S. in an attempt to ban Rick Norsigian from selling images th ey do not endorse.
Norsigian claims to have paid just $45 (=C2=A330) for the negatives at a garage sale in California back in 2000, while his lawyers maintain expe rts have verified their authenticity and valued them at $200 million (=C2 =A3133 million).
Estate bosses are demanding any profits made from sales, alleging trade mark infringement, false advertising and trademark dilution, among other claims.
Bill Turnage, managing director of Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trust, says, "I’m sure Ansel never would’ve imagined a scam on this scale. I ne ver thought it would come to this, but we have to try to do our duty to p rotect his work and reputation." But Norsigian’s lawyer Arnold Peter is adamant the case has "no merit", adding: "We are disappointed that the Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trus t has decided to resort to the courts in order to resolve what, in our vi ew, is a debate that should be resolved by art and forensic experts." HAMILTON FINED FOR AUSSIE DRIVING STUNT

British racing driver LEWIS HAMILTON has escaped with a fine after his mo toring skills landed him in trouble in Australia.
The 25 year old was arrested in March (10) ahead of the Australian Gran d Prix in Melbourne after police caught him performing a series of stunts on a public road.
Hamilton, whose luxury car was impounded after the incident, entered a guilty plea through his lawyer at a court Down Under on Tuesday (24Aug10) , admitting one count of driving a vehicle causing loss of traction.
Magistrate Clive Alsop, who was overseeing the case, told the court Ham ilton abused his position of influence by "behaving like a hoon (young lo utish driver)" but acknowledged the star’s letter of apology in which he called the incident a "momentary lapse of judgment".
The star, who earns an estimated $30 (=C2=A320 million) a year, was han ded a $432 (=C2=A3288) fine.

LEE QUITS BABY PHAT

KIMORA LEE has quit her role at the clothing company set up by her ex-hus band RUSSELL SIMMONS.
The reality TV star carved out a career in fashion by joining Simmons’ Phat Farm firm and designing for the Baby Phat brand.
She stayed on as creative director after the company was sold in 2004 a s part of a massive $140 million (=C2=A393.3 million) deal, but she has n ow quit to pursue other fashion projects.
Lee says in a statement, "It’s time for me to move on and further expan d my other businesses and create a new phenomenon. I adore all those who have faithfully been with me since the beginning. I’m forever dedicated t o my family, fans, and customers."

OSBOURNE’S EX ORDERED TO PAY FOR VANDALISM

JACK OSBOURNE’s ex-girlfriend has been ordered to pay $10,000 (=C2=A36,70 0) after allegedly vandalising the star’s Aston Martin car.
Niki Cloyd pleaded no contest to one misdemeanour count of vandalism af ter she was reportedly caught on camera causing significant damage to Osb ourne’s luxury $250,000 (=C2=A3167,000) vehicle in May (10).
A judge ordered the 24-year-old model to pay for repairs, and she was p laced on 18 months probation, according to TMZ.com.
The website reports that Cloyd will also have to complete 12 anger mana gement classes but will have her record cleared if she stays out of troub le during her probation period.
Ozzy Osbourne’s son applied for a restraining order against Cloyd after she was arrested for the incident, but his request was denied. (PAW/WNWC

SMITH VIDEO SHOWN IN COURT

A video of ANNA NICOLE SMITH denying allegations of drug abuse has been s hown to jurors as her ex-boyfriend HOWARD K. STERN battles accusations he helped feed her habit.
Stern is on trial in California, along with two doctors, and has pleade d not guilty to charges of conspiring to provide strong prescription pill s to the tragic model, who passed away in 2007 after suffering an acciden tal overdose.
Larry Birkhead, who fathered a daughter with Smith, took the stand on F riday (20Aug10) and broke down in tears as he claimed she suffered seizur es because of the medications she was taking and would even fall asleep d uring meal times.
Stern’s defence attorney Steve Sadow cross-examined Birkhead on Monday (23Aug10) and he showed the court a video of Smith in which she denied al legations she had been under the influence of drugs during an appearance at the 2004 American Music Awards, which raised concerns about her slurre d speech.
The video was filmed with Birkhead four days after the awards show and Smith is seen telling the camera, "People thought I was drunk, on drugs, losing it. I’m not losing it, America. I’m fine, happy." The judge overseeing the case urged the jurors to take note of Smith’s behaviour on tape and not her words, according to the Associated Press. (

LUCAS SUES ‘JEDI’ MIND CONTROL COMPANY

GEORGE LUCAS has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against a technolog y company for allegedly hijacking a STAR WARS reference to market ‘mind c ontrol’ products.
Lawyers representing the sci-fi franchise’s creator fired off a cease-a nd-desist letter to bosses at Jedi Mind Inc in May last year (09), demand ing they stop using the name of Star Wars’ famous mystical space age knig hts.
The head of the company, which makes futuristic computer headsets which use brain waves to run software applications, allegedly agreed to phase out the Jedi Mind trademarks but representatives for the movie giant’s Lu casFilm company claim the demand was not met, even after another legal le tter several months later.
Lucas’ attorneys have now filed a $5 million (=C2=A33.3 million) tradem ark lawsuit against the firm, alleging the name will cause confusion in t he marketplace and harm LucasFilm’s business and reputation, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The lawsuit claims ownership of "all characteristics associated with th e Jedi knights not memorialised in a registered trademark, including Jedi robes, the lightsabre weapon, the power to levitate objects, a telepathi c oneness with other Jedi and the universe, and the ability to shoot ener gy beams called ‘force lightning’ from the fingertips".

KENNEDY, JR.’S WIFE ARRESTED AGAIN

ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR.’s estranged wife has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs just a month after she was banned f rom the road over another motoring offence.
Mary Richardson Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge of driving with abil ity impaired last month (Jul10) after police officers witnessed her slam her car onto a sidewalk outside a school in Bedford, New York.
Her licence was suspended for 90 days and she was also ordered to atten d alcohol education classes.
But Kennedy is in trouble with the law again after her car was pulled o ver by cops in New York on Saturday morning (21Aug10) on suspicion of spe eding.
She was charged with driving while impaired by drugs after allegedly fa iling a sobriety test and is due in Pleasant Valley Town Court in New Yor k on Thursday (26Aug10).
Kennedy was reportedly driving with a conditional licence at the time o f her arrest.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., the son of assassinated politician Robert F. Ke nnedy, filed for divorce from his wife of 16 years after her arrest last month.

SNIPES’ PRISON SENTENCE POSTPONED

WESLEY SNIPES has been spared jail for now - he’s been granted a postpone ment ahead of his looming prison term.
The Blade star lost an appeal against his three-year jail sentence in J uly (10) after a 2008 trial found him guilty of wilful failure to file hi s income tax returns to the U.S. government.
He was due to surrender to authorities to begin his stint behind bars o n 2 September (10) but on Monday (23Aug10) a U.S. District Court judge gr anted him an emergency stay, according to Variety.com.
A new date for Snipes’ surrender will not be set until several pending motions in the case are ruled on.
Last week (19Aug10), the actor’s lawyers filed a motion asking to quest ion jurors involved in his trial to find out whether they had pre-determi ned his guilt before the case was heard in court.
Meanwhile, Snipes has signed up to star in a new movie, Havana Heat, wh ich is due to begin filming in November (10).

DOUGLAS’ COURT CASE TO CONTINUE

MICHAEL DOUGLAS is refusing to let his cancer diagnosis compromise his co urt showdown with ex-wife DIANDRA as she battles for a slice of his earni ngs from the upcoming WALL STREET sequel.
The Hollywood superstar is facing a claim from his former partner for a share of his pay cheque ahead of the release of Oliver Stone’s Wall Stre et: Money Never Sleeps later this year (10).
Diandra, who split from the actor in 2000, alleges her divorce deal ent itles her to half her ex-husband’s salary from projects he worked on duri ng their 20 years of marriage - including the original 1987 Wall Street m ovie and any possible "spin-offs".
The former couple’s legal teams are set to face off in court in New Yor k on Tuesday (24Aug10), and Diandra reportedly offered to delay the heari ng in the light of Douglas’ recent announcement he is battling throat can cer.
However, Douglas rejected the postponement, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix.
A source tells the publication, "Michael declined - he wants to get thi s over with as soon as possible."

UNDERWORLD STAR TO DEBUT ARTWORK IN JAPAN

UNDERWORLD star KARL HYDE is to debut 70 new artworks as part of the What ’s Going on in Your Head as You’re Dancing exhibition at the Laforet Muse um in Harajuku, Japan.
It will be the Born Slippy hitmaker’s first solo art show, and his firs t since he presented pieces in New York with Underworld partner Rick Smit h and artist John Warwicker in 2008.
Hyde tells Spinner.com, "It started off by making series of marks while I was doing interviews, marks that were inspired by walking through the streets of cities.
"That started to develop into seeing the same shapes I see in my head w hile I’m onstage with Underworld. I see physical 3D shapes in my head whi le I’m onstage of the potential moves I might make when I’m thinking abou t moving across stage or interpreting the sound."

JAMIROQUAI TO RELEASE ALBUM AFTER FIVE-YEAR HIATUS

British jazz funk band JAMIROQUAI are reforming to release their first al bum in five years.
The Space Cowboy hitmakers parted ways after releasing 2005’s Dynamite because frontman Jay Kay was too exhausted by their busy schedule to cont inue.
But after stepping out of the spotlight, Jamiroquai is now set to relea se a comeback record, Rock Dust Light Star, in November (10).

BOY JONES, the son of late rapper OL’ DIRTY BASTARD, joined his father’s former bandmates the WU TANG CLAN for a performance of the group’s landma rk Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers at the Rock The Bells festival in Calif ornia on Saturday night (21Aug10).
Jones, who resembles his dead dad, ran shirtless through the crowd at t he event as RZA and Ghostface Killah rapped through hits onstage.
The night was an emotional one for RZA, who thanked fans for buying the album they were performing.

LENNOX TO RECORD CHRISTMAS ALBUM

ANNIE LENNOX has become the latest star to get festive early - the singer is following MARIAH CAREY by announcing plans to release a Christmas alb um.
Carey, whose Merry Christmas became one of the world’s best-selling Yul etide albums of all time after it was released in 1994, is planning to fo llow-up the compilation with a new set of holiday classics in November (1 0).
And now Lennox has revealed her own plans to record "personal interpret ations of some of her favourite Christmas carols" on A Christmas Cornucop ia.

CULLUM WADES INTO X FACTOR AUTO-TUNE DEBATE

JAMIE CULLUM has waded into a debate over the use of Auto-Tune in SIMON C OWELL’s THE X FACTOR - insisting the technology should not be used to cor rect contestants’ vocals.
The TV talent contest, which saw its seventh series launched in the U.K .. on Saturday (21Aug10), has been mired in controversy after viewers real ised several hopefuls had their vocals enhanced by computer.
Producers admitted using Auto-Tune to correct off-key singing but they insist it was only applied in the editing suite after the auditions took place, to enhance the sound for TV viewers.
And now Cullum has spoken out against the technique because he prefers to hear the singer’s "character".
He tells Britain’s The One Show, "It’s this whole perception of what yo u think music’s supposed to be. I mean I don’t personally think it’s alwa ys about singing perfectly in tune. I think you listen to all the great r ecordings of all time, you know, Bob Dylan doesn’t always sing in tune bu t he sounds like himself.
"It’s all about getting character in a voice and I think if you Auto-Tu ne everything, for me, I lose interest in it."

KASABIAN TURN WEDDING CRASHERS

KASABIAN celebrated the start of their one-year hiatus by crashing two we dding parties following their gig at Britain’s V Festival on Sunday night (22Aug10), according to a U.K. report.
The Fire hitmakers are stepping out of the spotlight for the next 12 mo nths so the bandmembers can spend time with their young children.
After headlining the festival in Essex, England, the four-piece headed for the Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hertfordshire to party with Oasi s rocker Noel Gallagher.
And the musicians lived up to their rowdy rock star reputations - weddi ng guests at the hotel complained to staff after the band tried to move f rom their own function room into the private parties.
Meanwhile other hotel attendees reportedly tried to sneak into Kasabian ’s party, mobbing the group to get photos with the rockers.
Speaking before the bash, frontman Tom Meighan told Britain’s The Sun, "There’s an Indian wedding and then another wedding. It’s going to be ins ane when everyone finds each other in the building."

WEST TO RELEASE MUSIC WEEKLY

KANYE WEST is set to give his fans a special festive treat - he’s releasi ng one song every week until Christmas.
The rapper has announced plans to offer up a new track on every Friday in the lead-up to Christmas Day (25Dec10).
In a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "I know y’all need the mu sic so I’m dropping 1 new song every weekend until Xmas. It may be my son g, it may be a new Jay (Z) song etc. I’m calling it good Fridays. Y’all k now every Friday y’all gone have a new joint from our family. We look at the game completely different now.
"It’s about the fans. No more holding back. That’s why I dropped See Me Now… It wasn’t about me, it was about the summer, the BBQs etc." The songs are expected to be released through West’s official website.
