Lesbian comedian WANDA SYKES was so scared about revealing her sexuality to her parents, she broke the news to them in a "long distance phone call ".
The funnywoman ‘came out’ publicly in 2008 after attending a gay rights rally in Las Vegas, and the 46 year old admits she spent years worrying about how to tell her mother and father the truth.
Sykes reveals she conquered her fear by making sure her parents were a "six-hour plane ride" away when she confessed her secret.
She tells newsman Larry King, "I have parents who are still alive. So y eah… that’s why you suppress all that, you bury it, and to try to fit i n. I’m 46… My father’s in the service. Right, retired colonel. So (I to ld them in) a long distance phone call. We’re talking, like, coast to coa st. You always want to give your family like a six-hour plane ride before they can get to you." And Sykes admits her relatives are still coming to terms with the revel ation.
She adds, "We’re working on it… They love me… I know without a doub t, my family, they love me. And you know, we’re working on it. Keep prayi ng for us."

PAUL HOGAN was stunned when he was served with an order detaining him in Australia because the legal notice came just hours before he was due to b ury his beloved mother.
The Crocodile Dundee star, who lives in Los Angeles, flew back to his h omeland on Friday (20Aug10) following the death of his 101-year-old mum a nd was immediately served with a departure prohibition order as part of h is ongoing tax dispute Down Under.
Hogan’s lawyer, Andrew Robinson, has revealed the bombshell news came t he night before the funeral and he has slammed Australian officials for t heir insensitive timing.
Robinson says, "It was served on Paul’s daughter at her Sydney home on Friday night with the funeral on Saturday morning. Imagine on the night b efore you bury your mother for this to happen." The attorney also fears Hogan could be stranded in Australia for severa l years, leaving him thousands of miles away from his wife and child in L os Angeles.
He adds, "(Hogan) could potentially be stuck in Australia for years. It is not looking good; this is a very serious order." The papers stem from an ongoing investigation by officials at the Austr alian Taxation Office (ATO), who have been chasing Hogan for millions of dollars in allegedly unpaid taxes for several years.
He is believed to owe a massive $32.1 million (=C2=A321.4 million) afte r officials amended his bill in July (10).

ENTER THE DRAGON star AHNA CAPRI has died nearly two weeks after falling into a coma following a horrific car crash.
The Hungarian actress, born Anna Marie Nanasi, lost consciousness follo wing a traffic accident in Los Angeles on 9 August (10) in which a five-t on truck collided with her car.
The 64 year old spent 11 days in a coma in hospital before doctors turn ed off her life support machine on 20 August (10).
Capri moved to the U.S. with her family as a child and began her career in the entertainment industry in the 1950s with a role in 1957’s Outlaw’ s Son. She went on to star in numerous films such as Kisses for My Presid ent and Girls on the Beach, as well as TV shows including The Man From U.
N.C.L.E., Mod Squad and The Wild Wild West.
She is best remembered for her role in classic martial arts movie Enter the Dragon opposite Bruce Lee.

JESSICA ALBA and director ROBERT RODRIGUEZ used a screening of MACHETE on Wednesday (25Aug10) to send well-wishes to troubled actress LINDSAY LOHA N and praise her performance in the new movie.
Lohan was forced to miss the special showing in Los Angeles, which took place just one day after she was discharged from a rehab clinic at the U CLA Medical Center.
Filmmaker Rodriguez took the opportunity to rave about Lohan, insisting he can’t wait for audiences to see her on the big screen again.

Irish singer BRIAN MCFADDEN has blasted an American airline in a series o f furious ‘tweets’ after his luggage was lost on a recent flight.
The former Westlife star was travelling from Los Angeles to New York on Delta Airlines this week (ends29Aug10) and was less than impressed with the small plane he boarded.
He took to his Twitter.com page to complain, ranting: "Sitting in the s mallest seat ever on an airplane. My knees are up to my chin! Feel claust rophobic. This plane stinks of wee.
"Think I’ll get the train next time. At least you can stick your head o ut the window. Let me off this poxy plane." And McFadden was even angrier following his return flight - after Delta employees misplaced his baggage.
He tweeted: "It’s official. The Delta airlines flight back was worse. T he rudest check-in staff on the planet hands down and dumb. F**k you Delt a Airlines.

The musician struggled to get by in the 1960s when he started out perfo rming with group Band Of Joy.
Plant, who has named his latest album after the band, admits he would o ften steal petrol out of cars and take milk from local residents in Manch ester, England because he had no money.

LIL WAYNE is facing a major court battle with his former booking agents a fter accusing them of holding back his tour profits - they have resolved to "aggressively defend" themselves against the star’s "utterly false cla ims".
The Lollipop hitmaker and his company Young Money Touring Inc. allege t he owners of Ujaama Talent Agency Inc., Erskine Isaac and David Nelson, o we him money from two of his America’s Most Wanted Music Festivals in 200 9.
The complaint accuses Isaac and Nelson of withholding at least $375,000 (=C2=A3250,000) in profits from the dates.

LINDSAY LOHAN wants to get back behind the wheel - she applied for a driv ing licence a day after completing her sentence for a 2007 DUI arrest.
The Mean Girls actress was jailed last month (Jul10) for breaching her probation stemming from the incident.
Upon her release, after less than two weeks, she was ordered to spend 9 0 days in rehab at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles and on Tuesday (24Aug10) she was discharged after just 23 days on the advice of her doct or.
Lohan was suspended from driving after her arrest but she visited a Dep artment of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office in California on Wednesday (25Aug1 0) to fill out the necessary paperwork to get back on the road, according to OKmagazine.com.
A source tells the website, "Lindsay went to the DMV in Santa Monica to day. You’re not allowed to drive if you are on probation for DUI, but she went to jail for ignoring her rules of probation on DUI, and she’s serve d her time so she can re-apply.
"She stopped at the DMV in Santa Monica wearing the same outfit from th is morning. I imagine that she’s filling out paperwork to get her licence back."

Academy Awards bosses are frantically trying to contact director JEAN-LUC GODARD to hand him an honorary Oscar - but they can’t track him down.
Officials from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences want to honour the 79-year-old filmmaker for his illustrious career at a glitzy c eremony in November (10).
