GUNS N’ ROSES’ performance at Britain’s Reading Festival on Friday night (27Aug10) ended in chaos after the band took to the stage an hour late an d organisers were forced to cut the sound to stop them playing.
The tardy rockers didn’t begin their set until more than an hour after their scheduled start time, infuriating festival bosses who were given st rict instructions from police and local officials to ensure the band didn ‘t break its 11.30pm (local time) curfew.
The band played the majority of their set but they were forced off duri ng their rendition of Paradise City when they began to play and then real ised all their instruments had been switched off.
Frontman Axl Rose attempted to carry on by singing through a megaphone, but eventually gave up and walked off stage with his bandmates.
Festival boss Melvin Benn spoke out earlier this week (beg23Aug10) to a ssure fans Guns N’ Roses would take to the stage on time, insisting he wa s under a lot of pressure to make sure the band stuck to the rules.
The Mr. Brownstone hitmakers will play again at the Leeds leg of the do uble-festival on Sunday night (29Aug10).
