STARR SUED BY CREDIT CARD BOSSES

Celebrity investment advisor KENNETH STARR’s legal woes are mounting behi nd bars - he’s been sued by credit card bosses at American Express amid a llegations he failed to pay over $350,000 (GBP233,330) in charges.
According to a lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Starr and his accounting firm ran up $343,430.87 (GBP228,950) on a Platinum card and $7 ,365.23 (GBP4,910) on a Gold card.
The suit reads: "Despite due demand, Starr has failed and refused to pa y Centurion Bank any portion of the amount due." Starr is accused of masterminding a $59 million (GBP39.3 million) Ponzi -like scheme and has been behind bars since his May (10) arrest.
He is accused of defrauding celebrity clients including heiress Rachel ‘Bunny’ Mellon, and has also represented Uma Thurman, Wesley Snipes, Mart in Scorsese and Sylvester Stallone, although there is no indication they were victims.
Starr pleaded not guilty to 20 counts of wire fraud and one count each of securities fraud, money laundering and fraud by an investment adviser and is scheduled for trial on 1 November (10).
He faces up to 45 years in federal prison if convicted of the alleged s cheme, reports the New York Daily News. (JMA/NYDN/IG) ————————————————————————-
