LIBERTINES EYEING PERMANENT REUNION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

Rockers THE LIBERTINES might be back for good - the cult band is consider ing making its reunion permanent.
The British group split in 2004 after a series of bust-ups between fron tmen Pete Doherty and Carl Barat over Doherty’s spiralling drug addiction s.
They announced earlier this year (10) that they would reform for two fe stival gigs in England this month (Aug10) but ruled out a long-term reuni on.
But intense rehearsals for their comeback shows have brought the previo usly warring band close together again - and a permanent return to perfor ming and recording is now "definitely possible".
Drummer Gary Powell tells British rock magazine NME, "I think that deci sion will actually come (after the reunion shows). (We) would all love to continue doing this." Bassist John Hassall adds, "I think it’s very important how these gigs go. Not for everyone else but for ourselves. The focus is on these gigs, and then we’ll see what happens. Really, you couldn’t say at the moment ( if we’ll reform permanently). But yeah, it’s definitely possible." The band is due to play at the Reading and Leeds festivals in the U.K. this weekend (27-29Aug10).
