There are a lot of p eople out there as talented as we (Fleetwood Mac) were, but they can’t su stain being in a rock ‘n’ roll band for long without success. We were abl e to, but we’re going to die out."

RATNER BACKS NEW YORK AFTER ALLEN SNUB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

Movie director BRETT RATNER has voiced his support for New York City afte r WOODY ALLEN sensationally snubbed his hometown by declaring it too expe nsive to film in.
Allen, who was born and raised in New York City, spent much of his earl y career making movies in the Big Apple, but in recent years has turned h is attentions to Europe, filming in Spain, France and Britain.
And at a press conference in Spain on Monday (22Aug10), Allen riled his fellow New Yorkers by insisting he won’t make any more movies in Manhatt an as he can’t afford to shoot there.
But X-Men: The Last Stand director Ratner is adamant Allen is wrong abo ut New York, insisting he has chosen to film upcoming Ben Stiller caper T ower Heist in the city this November (10) because he found it cheaper tha n shooting on location in Canada.
He tells Deadline.com, "When you have a big budget film, you’re getting a huge tax rebate and that made it more affordable compared to Toronto. The bigger the film, the more you’re going to save. The New York crews ar e in my opinion some of the best, because they grew up working for Woody, Joel and Ethan Coen, Marty Scorsese and Spike Lee. New York becomes a ch aracter in any movie and the rebate made it so reasonable that we’re shoo ting 100 per cent of the film here and doing all of the post-production i n New York."
