WILLIAMS’ WEDDING WAS NOT BOOZE-FREE
ROBBIE WILLIAMS’ father has laughed off reports his teetotal son banned b ooze at his wedding earlier this month (Aug10) - insisting all the guests enjoyed "alcohol and lots of it".
The British pop star wed Ayda Field at their Beverly Hills home with a small number of close friends and family in attendance.
It was rumoured the special day was alcohol-free because of the Angels hitmaker’s past struggles with drink and drugs, but the singer’s dad Pete Conway insists the speculation is nonsense.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "There was alcohol and lots of it. I did ha ve a drink. We certainly toasted the bride and groom. You can’t make ever yone give up. We drank and had a party. It’s great and it was a wonderful day." And Conway reveals the ceremony was enjoyed by all - even though the nu ptials came as a "surprise".
He adds, "It was lovely, she was lovely and he was in good shape and ev erything was perfect. She’s very pretty and she looked a dream.
"It wasn’t fraught. It was very relaxed and lovely. Robbie was emotiona l. It was a big day. I didn’t make a speech… it wasn’t very conventiona l. We just had a lovely time.
"It was organised quite quickly. It was a total surprise to everyone - even me - but it was a nice surprise."
