ANISTON SPEAKS OUT ABOUT CREDIT SCAM SCANDAL
JENNIFER ANISTON wasn’t surprised when her former beautician was arrested for federal fraud charges on Wednesday (18Aug10) - she severed links wit h her five years ago when she sensed something was wrong.
U.S. Secret Service agents arrested Maria Gabriela Perez for stealing A -list clients’ credit card information and making fraudulent charges on t heir behalf.
Her famous clients, named in an affidavit obtained by TMZ.com, included Aniston, Anne Hathaway, Liv Tyler, Cher and Melanie Griffith, among othe rs.
According the the documents, the accused swindled $214,000 (GBP142,600) from Tyler alone.
But the former Friends star, who stopped visiting Perez five years ago, admits she always knew something wasn’t quite right about the beauty bos s.
In an interview on U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America on Thursday (19Aug10), the actress said, "We had a situation that was not cool so I just stopped going to her." The actress insists her loss "wasn’t to the extent of some of the other s named", but added, "I knew something like this would eventually happen because there’s no way you can get away with that. It’s terrible." Perez faces up to 25 years behind bars if she’s convicted.
