CRAWFORD SLIMMED DOWN FOR TWELVE

CHACE CRAWFORD embarked on a gruelling diet for his new movie TWELVE - be cause he was determined to look totally different to his hunky GOSSIP GIR L character.
The 25-year-old actor has gained a massive female following since findi ng fame on the hit teen TV show, but Crawford wanted to put his pin-up st atus behind him for his edgy new film, which sees him play a privileged t eenager-turned-drug dealer.
He tells ETOnline, "I dropped some weight for the character. I just wan ted to look unlike I do on the show." But Crawford admits his efforts to change his image paled in comparison to his Twelve co-star 50 Cent, who recently lost 54 pounds (24 kilograms ) for a role.
He adds, "He’s a true professional".

RADCLIFFE HAPPY TO HELP HAMMER

DANIEL RADCLIFFE jumped at the chance to star in an upcoming movie versio n of THE WOMAN IN BLACK because the film will be one of the first new Ham mer horror pictures since the 1970s.
The legendary British company, Hammer Film Productions, was well-known for its classic movies including The Curse of Frankenstein and Dracula, b ut it went 30 years without producing a picture after a downturn in the f irm’s fortunes and various ownership changes.
But Hammer is heading back to the big screen this year (10) with a seri es of high profile projects in the works, including an English-language r emake of Swedish vampire thriller Let the Right One In.
And Radcliffe is delighted to be a part of the Hammer revival with the new adaptation of Susan Hill’s creepy book.
He tells the Los Angeles Times, "It does bring a smile to my face, and it’s an absolutely genuine smile. Hammer is the company that everybody wa nts to see succeed. It’s such a part of our film heritage. It was a massi ve producer of films in its heyday - they were really prolific, there wer e tons of them - and with actors like Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. JACKSON’S GUILT OVER SUCCESS

THE A-TEAM star QUINTON ‘RAMPAGE’ JACKSON often "feels guilty" about his success because he’s plagued by memories of his troubled youth.
The street fighter-turned-actor, who grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, adm its many of his childhood pals have fallen victim to drugs and crime whil e he has since found fame in the blockbuster hit, replacing Mr. T in the role of B. A. Baracus.
And Jackson can’t understand why he didn’t share the same fate as his f riends.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "I came from the streets. A lot of people I grew up with died or were on drugs or are in prison.
"All my close friends, apart from one or two, are like that. Sometimes I feel guilty or I feel like, ‘God, why did you spare me?’ I now make a g ood living and travel the world."

LUCCI WRITING MEMOIRS

Veteran actress SUSAN LUCCI is preparing to tell all about her life in TV - she’s signed a deal to write her memoirs.
The 62 year old has played seductress Erica Kane in U.S. soap opera All My Children for nearly 40 years and is now planning to document her expe riences in a new book.
The Emmy Award-winning actress has signed a deal with It Books, a subsi diary of publishing giant HarperCollins, and the tome will be released ne xt year (11), according to the Associated Press.

RADCLIFFE: ‘SPOOKY NEW ROLE WILL VANQUISH POTTER’

DANIEL RADCLIFFE is looking forward to filming his upcoming role in THE W OMAN IN BLACK because he’s convinced the spooky film will free him from t he shadow of HARRY POTTER.
The 21 year old has played the character for more than a decade and he recently completed filming on the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.
He’s lined up numerous new projects including a leading role in a frigh tening new adaptation of Susan Hill’s classic novel.
And Radcliffe hopes the spooky part will finally free him of his connec tion to the Harry Potter franchise.
He tells the Los Angeles Times, "It worries me (that fans will still se e me as Harry Potter), but the challenge is to look like a dad and a youn g father. If I get that right, that is something that immediately separat es me from Harry." The film’s screenwriter, Jane Goldman, adds, "I think there’s a clear-c ut demarcation. He was playing a boy in the Potter films or perhaps a you ng adult. Here, he’s playing a man. Also I think in general today audienc es know actors much more as individuals, there’s an awareness of them apa rt from their roles. Dan is a brilliant actor, and he’s much more than th e person who played Harry Potter."

JACKSON’S COMIC-CON STUNT EXPLAINED

JOSHUA JACKSON’s bizarre behaviour at this year’s (10) Comic-Con conventi on has been explained - the actor’s attempts to revive his DAWSON’S CREEK character for a fan festival were part of a comedy sketch.
The actor baffled attendees at the annual gathering in San Diego, Calif ornia at the weekend (24-25Jul10) by pitching up outside the venue with a megaphone and a banner, which read, ‘Pacey-Con 2010 Capeside to San Dieg o’ in reference to his character in the teen show, Pacey Witter.
Jackson was seen blasting the show’s theme tune on a stereo and shoutin g out to the crowds, "Welcome to the Pacey-Con! All the great unanswered questions of Dawson’s Creek will finally be answered!" He was even seen being removed by security guards as he attempted to ge t in to the Comic-Con event to promote his fake festival.
Jackson has now revealed the stunt was filmed as part of a sketch for c omedy website FunnyOrDie.com and the video has been posted online. (LR/WN

RAPACE: ‘I’M DONE WITH MILLENNIUM TRILOGY’

Swedish actress NOOMI RAPACE has ruled herself out of the race to land th e female lead in the big budget remake of STIEG LARSSON’s MILLENNIUM TRIL OGY - insisting she’s "done" with her character.
Larsson’s bestselling novels have already been adapted into films in th e late journalist’s native Sweden, but acclaimed filmmaker David Fincher is preparing to start work on an American version of the franchise, with Daniel Craig in the lead role.
Rumours are rife over who will play the female lead, Lisbeth Salander, in the first installment, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but Rapace, wh o played the role in all three of the Swedish adaptations, is adamant she won’t accept the job.
She tells Britain’s Total Film magazine, "With the remake I’ve been ver y clear on that point from the beginning: it doesn’t matter who is going to play Mikael Blomkvist, I’m finished.
"I love Fight Club and I think Seven is an amazing film. I think Finche r is one of the few directors in the world that can do something really g ood with it. But I’m done with her.
"I don’t have this dream about Hollywood. I know that many actors, they want to go to Hollywood and they will do anything to get there. But for me it’s more important to work with people and do projects that I deeply believe in and feel like I really have to do. If it ends up in Hollywood, that’s fine."

KLEIN EXTENDS REHAB STAY

Actor CHRIS KLEIN has extended his stay in rehab as he battles alcohol ad diction in the wake of his recent DUI arrest.
The American Pie star was driving through Los Angeles when his car was pulled over by police last month (Jun10).
He was arrested after failing a sobriety test and was later charged wit h two misdemeanours which could land him a stint in jail.
Klein checked into the Cirque Lodge rehab facility in Utah, which previ ously housed Lindsay Lohan, to seek professional help for his problems. H e signed up for a 30-day program and his rep, Jaime Primak, has now confi rmed he will be staying a while longer.
Primak tells People.com, "Chris, along with his support team, has decid ed to extend his treatment. He is doing fantastic and is optimistic about his future. He thanks everyone for their continued support." (LR/WNWCPL/

MADONNA took a hands-on approach to the first photoshoot for her MATERIAL GIRL range, stepping behind the camera to snap TAYLOR MOMSEN in her desi gns.
The pop superstar and her daughter Lourdes are preparing to release a j uniors line together and have picked the Gossip Girl star as their first spokesmodel.
Both mum and daughter were calling the shots on the Manhattan set on Tu esday (27Jul10), dressing Momsen in their collaborative designs.
The singer took charge to make sure the shoot turned out just as she en visioned - by picking up the camera and snapping Momsen in a variety of p oses.
And the actress admits she was "shocked" by how involved Madonna was in the behind-the-scenes work.
She tells Women’s Wear Daily, "It’s Madonna. I was kind of shocked. She ’s amazing. She was very down to earth. It was nice to see after all her success, she’s still very grounded.
"She definitely has a vision and was very hands-on. It was really easy working with her. She’s very comfortable to be around - very professional but a lot of fun."

BIEBER’S SEGWAY ESCAPE

JUSTIN BIEBER has found a crafty way to escape his hordes of female fans - the teen pop star uses an electric Segway to ride away from trouble.
The 16 year old found himself surrounded by devotees in an Arizona park ing lot on Sunday (25Jul10) ahead of his show in Glendale that night.
And in bid to avoid getting mobbed, the star took off on the two-wheele d contraption to speed away from the crowds.
Video footage taken at the scene shows dozens of young girls chasing af ter the singer as he rides away, before he’s eventually cornered in a sid e street and surrounded.
Bieber has previously been forced to cancel concerts and public appeara nces because of his unruly devotees - overcrowding and safety fears have forced police to step in on several occasions and disperse the crowds. (L

CAMPBELL BREAKS NECK BONES

Scottish singer DARIUS CAMPBELL is "lucky to be alive" after breaking his neck in a "terrifying" high speed car crash.
The pop star, previously known as Darius Danesh, cracked several verteb rae in his neck in a road accident on 19 July (10) while on vacation in M arbella, Spain.
The 29 year old and his two friends all survived the crash, but he admi ts the incident left him fearing for his life.
He tells Scotland’s Glasgow Evening Times, "It was absolutely terrifyin g. I thought that was going to be it. My life flashed before my eyes and I thought I was going to die.
"I don’t remember the impact - it all happened so fast and I felt very dazed afterwards. The last thing I remember was being thrown forwards. Be fore I knew it, I had got out of the car, but I hit the ground and I coul dn’t feel my arms and my legs." He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and doctors suggested an operation to repair the damage, but Campbell opted instead to wear a nec k brace while he recovers, fearing surgery could harm his vocal cords.
He adds, "I’m lucky to be alive. I’m feeling much better but I still ha ve a neck brace. I hope the vertebrae heal on their own. But if that does n’t happen, they would have to operate. I want to put the op off for a fe w weeks and hope the damage heals."

SOUL SINGER NORMAN DENIES ASSAULT

American soul singer MARIO NORMAN has pleaded not guilty to an assault ch arge after he was accused of punching an Australian politician in Sydney.
The 24 year old was arrested following claims he hit Member of Parliame nt (MP) Paul Gibson during an altercation, which is said to have taken pl ace in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in June (10).
Norman appeared at the city’s Manly Local Court on Thursday (29Jul10) w here he pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The star alleges Gibson sparked the dispute by running over his foot wi th his car, telling reporters outside the court, "He ran over my shoes. I love my shoes and he hurt my foot. If someone ran over your foot what wo uld you do? You would want an apology, that’s how we do it in America, we apologise." Norman’s case was adjourned until 9 September (10).

THE VERONICAS SUE OVER MERCHANDISE

Australian pop stars THE VERONICAS are taking legal action against a clot hing company over allegations they are owed money from merchandise sales.
The singing twins - Jessica and Lisa Origliasso - have filed a lawsuit at the Supreme Court of Victoria claiming they have not been paid by exec utives at the Designworks Clothing Company, which formerly held an exclus ive licence to sell the band’s merchandise in Australia and New Zealand.
The lawsuit claims a 2007 contract states the duo must be paid 12 per c ent of royalties on all wholesale deals within 30 days and alleges they h ave yet to receive any money from sales dating back to December (09).
The Veronicas’ agreement with the firm came to an end in April (10) and the merchandising licence was handed to another company.
The lawsuit is seeking payment for sales, as well as damages, interest and legal costs, according to the AAP.

DICKINSON SLAMS SKY-HIGH TICKET PRICES

IRON MAIDEN frontman BRUCE DICKINSON has blasted rock bands who charge ex tortionate prices for concert tickets - insisting they only have themselv es to blame for half-empty arenas.
The Number of the Beast hitmakers refuse to hike the face value of seat s at their shows, despite pressure from record industry bosses to recoup lost cash from album sales through increased tour revenues.
He blames the practice for falling ticket sales for live gigs - and is adamant bands should keep prices low to encourage more fans to attend the ir concerts.

HILTON DENIES SHE’S PAID TO PARTY WITH BILLIONAIRE

A representative for PARIS HILTON has denied the socialite has been paid $1 million (=C2=A3666,667) to party with a Malaysian billionaire - insist ing they are "friends".
The hotel heiress has hit headlines in recent weeks as she soaks up the sun in St. Tropez, France with Jho Low and a group of pals.
Hilton has been seen swigging from bottles of champagne and partying on a yacht with the tycoon as she spends her summer relaxing in Europe, spa rking speculation she’s receiving a hefty pay cheque to liven up Jho Low’ s holiday.

MORAN PUTS OUT FIRE ON RITCHIE’S STREET

Actor NICK MORAN showed his heroic side by rushing to put out a blaze nea r GUY RITCHIE’s home on Tuesday (27Jul10).
The British star took on the role of fireman while attending a party in London’s Fitzrovia area after he noticed flames shooting out of a nearby property, close to where the filmmaker lives.
And Moran, who was directed by Ritchie in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking B arrels, wasted no time in coming to the rescue.
A source tells Britain’s The Sun, "Nick was chatting to other celebs wh en he noticed flames coming from a nearby property.
"He dashed to his car and came back with a fire extinguisher before rus hing over to tackle the blaze.
"He emerged covered in dirt and dust but seemed quite modest about it."

JACKSON DOUBTFUL OVER ACTING FUTURE

THE A-TEAM star QUINTON ‘RAMPAGE’ JACKSON doubts he will take on any more movie roles - because he makes more money as a mixed martial artist than as an actor.
The muscle man began his career fighting in Japan’s combat sports scene before joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship in the U.S.
He stepped out of the ring after landing a high-profile role in the blo ckbuster, replacing Mr. T in the big-screen reboot of the 1980s series, b ut Jackson has no desire to further pursue acting - unless he’s offered a bumper pay cheque for his next role.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "For what I get paid for doing movies now I would end up in the poor house. I have a lot of bills. I make more money fighting. I don’t know if it’s politically incorrect to talk about money , but I didn’t start fighting to be famous. I started fighting to put foo d on the table - I got kids, you know? My family in Memphis are quite poo r, so I have to take care of them."

HAMM WILL NEVER MARRY

MAD MEN heart-throb JON HAMM is adamant he will never wed his girlfriend of 13 years JENNIFER WESTFELDT - because he just doesn’t "have the marria ge chip".
The 39-year-old actor has been dating the Kissing Jessica Stein star si nce 1997, and although he calls her the "love of his life" he has no plan s to exchange vows with the actress.
Hamm, whose divorced parents both died before he reached the age of 20, admits his troubled family life has played some part in his decision not to marry, but he’s also convinced he’s just not the ‘marrying kind’.
He tells Parade magazine, "Losing both parents at a young age gave me a sense that you can’t really control life - so you’d better live it while it’s here. I stopped believing in a storybook existence a long time ago.
All you can do is push in a direction and see what comes of it.
"I don’t have the marriage chip, and neither of us have the greatest ex amples of marriages in our families. But Jen is the love of my life. We’v e been together four times longer than my parents were married (13 years) .." And Hamm reveals the couple isn’t planning to start a family either, ad ding, "I like kids, but I also like the option to close the door. Becomin g a parent is a whole other life, and it doesn’t stop."
