LOHAN URGES FATHER TO STAY AWAY

LINDSAY LOHAN has issued an emotional plea to her father to stay away fro m her as she battles her demons in rehab - insisting she is in a "great p lace" and doesn’t want her dad to hamper her progress.
The Mean Girls star checked into a sober living facility in Los Angeles last week (beg12Jul10) ahead of her upcoming 90 day jail sentence, which she is due to start on Tuesday (20Jul10).
The actress was handed the stint behind bars for violating her parole r elating to a 2007 DUI arrest and her lawyer Robert Shapiro has confirmed she is determined to put her addictions behind her.
Shapiro has come under fire from Lohan’s father Michael, who has accuse d him of not doing enough to keep his daughter out of prison and in rehab - but the star, who has endured a turbulent relationship with her dad in recent years, has warned him not to meddle in her affairs.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "I don’t want my ex-father anywhere near me no matter where I am. He is crazy and scar es me.
"I don’t want Michael Lohan Sr. anywhere near me… I am in a great pla ce and he only brings negativity in my world."

50 CENT TO DITCH NEW DANCE ALBUM?

50 CENT is considering scrapping his upcoming album because he has grown tired of his new dance sound.
The rapper embraced a new musical direction for Black Magic, due for re lease later this year (10), with many tracks inspired by the upbeat Europ ean nightclub hits which he discovered during a recent promotional tour o f the continent.
But 50 Cent has grown less fond of his work since returning to his nati ve U.S. and is now considering ditching his dance album in favour of a mo re traditional rap record.
He tells Rolling Stone Brazil, "I’ve written an album that’s called Bla ck Magic, but I am not sure it will be my next album. Since I’ve made it back to America after recording in the U.K. and different territories sin ce I was on the road, I started writing different material that don’t (si c) quite fit that concept.
"Black Magic had a different style to it, a different vibe. I was playi ng with different song structures, music from different genres… I did s ome things that were a little dance inspired, the tempo was higher. Just playing with a lot of things. Since I got back, I’ve been writing things that don’t fit that (concept)."

OKEREKE GIG MARRED BY TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

BLOC PARTY star KELE OKEREKE was plagued by technical problems at a solo gig in London on Saturday night (17Jul10) - a glitch forced the star offs tage to boos from the disgruntled crowd.
The singer, who is focusing on his solo career while the band is on hia tus, played at a gig for Vice magazine’s Creators Project alongside Mark Ronson, but the show ended abruptly when Okereke was hit with sound probl ems.
The star faced heckling from the crowd as he walked off stage before th e end of his set, as crewmembers rushed to fix the glitch. After a short break he was able to return to finish his performance, according to NME.c om.

GALLAGHER TAKES AIM AT OASIS

LIAM GALLAGHER has re-ignited his war of words with his brother NOEL - in sisting his new band will be "bigger" than OASIS.
The singer formed Beady Eye after the Wonderwall hitmakers split last A ugust (09) following a bust-up between the two siblings backstage at a gi g in France.
Frontman Liam is still not on speaking terms with guitarist Noel - and he has risked another fight with the rocker after taking a swipe at their former band.
Asked about his new group, Gallagher tells Britain’s The Sun, "It’ll be bigger. It’s proper rock ‘n’ roll. Oasis was a pop band compared to what we’re doing." But despite their year-long feud, Gallagher is adamant he and Noel will make up eventually: "That kid will come crawling back very soon, man." (

LYDON: ‘MCLAREN’S FUNERAL WAS A LET DOWN’

SEX PISTOLS star JOHN LYDON has branded the funeral of his former manager MALCOLM MCLAREN a "let down" - insisting the service "sounded dreadful" and "not dignified".
The music mogul passed away in April (10) after losing his battle with cancer and he was laid to rest with a church service in north London, whe re friends, colleagues, and stars including Bob Geldof and 1980s singer A dam Ant turned out to pay their respects.
The memorial saw McLaren’s coffin pass through the streets of the Briti sh capital in a horse-drawn carriage, and an imitation of the Sex Pistols ‘ tour bus was parked outside the venue.
But Lydon, who was unable to attend the funeral, is adamant the report he received from Geldof after the service was not good.
He tells Britain’s Guardian newspaper, "Bob Geldof came to see (Lydon’s band) PiL in Canada and he told me. He said he attended the funeral and the wake was full of wannabes, and I bet he was one of them himself! It s ounded dreadful: Bernie Rhodes and Vivienne Westwood fighting. A real let down. Not dignified.
"Malcolm McClaren didn’t inspire. He took credit for things he didn’t d o. So f**k him. I’m not great at dealing with death, I have to say." (LR/

WET WET WET STAR QUITS

WET WET WET star GRAEME CLARK has quit the band after 28 years.
The bass player informed fans of the news in a post on his Twitter.com page on Saturday (17Jul10), revealing he has decided to leave the Scottis h pop group to focus on other projects.
Clark, who has battled depression and drug problems in recent years, fo unded the band in 1982 with Marti Pellow, Tommy Cunningham and Neil Mitch ell and helped write some of their biggest hits.
In a post on his Twitter.com, page, he writes, "After a lot of soul sea rching (I) have decided to leave Wet Wet Wet. It has been an amazing jour ney - but it’s time to turn the corner into another road."

CRYSTAL CASTLES IN NEW GROPING SCANDAL

CRYSTAL CASTLES frontwoman ALICE GLASS stormed off stage at a festival in Britain on Saturday night (17Jul10) after accusing an audience member of grabbing her breasts during a stage dive.
The Canadian rockers were performing at the Latitude Music Festival in Suffolk, England when the singer hurled herself into the crowd, only to e merge swearing furiously after a reveller allegedly touched her chest.
She angrily told the offender, "You touch my t**s, I kick you in the f* *king head. B**ch!" Glass continued the set but barely sang and after a few songs she threw down her microphone and walked off stage 20 minutes early to a chorus of boos from the disgruntled audience, according to Britain’s Daily Star.
The news comes just months after keyboard player Ethan Kath revealed th e band faced a legal tussle with a fan after the man allegedly grabbed Gl ass during a gig and she batted him away with her microphone.

KEYS SPLITS FROM LONGTIME MANAGER

ALICIA KEYS has parted ways with her manager of more than a decade in ord er to take more control of her own career.
The R&B singer has worked with Jeff Robinson since her early days in th e music industry, but the pair has now ended their professional relations hip by "mutual agreement".
Keys will still consult Robinson on her future albums, but will now per sonally handle more important decisions on touring, music licensing, and film amd TV deals.
A statement released to Billboard.com reads, "This decision will allow Alicia more control over all aspects of her career from singing and songw riting, to leading many business ventures and social causes. (The decisio n was) mutually agreed upon and amicable."

DEVITO’S FACE EATEN IN HORROR SKIT

Hollywood legend DANNY DEVITO has shown he is good enough to eat - he app ears as the main course at a banquet in a grisly new horror skit.
The Twins star is indulging his love of terrifying movies by launching a new website, TheBloodFactory.com, to showcase short slasher films.
And to promote the project, he has shot a spoof horror movie scene - sh owing workers at a studio eating him alive.
DeVito’s head and torso are served up on a platter as part of a buffet, and as he addresses the camera to discuss his website, a man rips the sk in off the actor’s face and puts it in a sandwich.
As other guests prepare to tuck in, DeVito yells: "There’s plenty for e verybody. Bon appetit. Save me a bite!" The film has been posted online ahead of DeVito’s appearance at the Com ic-Con convention in San Diego, California, which begins on Thursday (22J ul10).

BARTHA SLAMS ‘DISGUSTING’ CELEBRITY CULTURE

JUSTIN BARTHA has vowed never to publicise his romance with ASHLEY OLSEN - because he is "disgusted" by celebrities who sell the intimate details of their private life in lucrative magazine deals.
The Hangover actor has been dating the former child star since 2008, bu t they are rarely photographed together.
Bartha admits they go to extra effort to keep their relationship low-ke y because he never wants to fall into the trap of sharing the secrets of their romance with the world.
He tells Britain’s Evening Standard newspaper, "It is not something tha t you keep under wraps. It is just the natural thing to have your private life be private. It is not natural to put a relationship out in the publ ic eye so if that is not an inclination then you just keep a lower profil e.
"I don’t understand it when celebrity couples pose for pictures and inv ite people into their home. But it is a very unfortunate part of the cult ure that has entered into our society which personally I find fairly disg usting."

FORMER CHILD STAR ROE DIES

Former child star RAYMOND ROE has died at the age of 84.
The actor, who shot to fame as a youngster on Broadway, passed away on 2 July (10) in San Leandro, California after suffering complications foll owing surgery.
Roe began his career as a child star on the New York stage and enjoyed roles in productions such as Our Town and Life With Father before moving to California to kickstart his film career.
His big screen debut came in 1939’s Back Door to Heaven and he went on to star in films including The Major and the Minor with Ginger Rogers, Ju ne Bride with Bette Davis, and The West Point Story alongside James Cagne y.
Roe retired from Hollywood in his later years and served as a Los Angel es County deputy sheriff, according to Variety.com.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, two sons and a daughter. (LR/WNW

RADCLIFFE TO BRING WOMAN IN BLACK TO THE BIG SCREEN

DANIEL RADCLIFFE is preparing to give fans a fright with a spooky new fil m role - the actor has reportedly signed up to star in a big screen adapt ation of SUSAN HILL’s scary novel THE WOMAN IN BLACK.
The Harry Potter star is currently lining up work after finishing filmi ng on the wizard movies this summer (10) and he has already signed up for a remake of All Quiet on the Western Front and a Broadway production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Now Radcliffe is set to star in a new film adaptation of the creepy boo k, which has been running as a West End play since the late 1980s.
The supernatural thriller was previously adapted into a TV movie in 198 9 starring Adrian Rawlins, who plays Radcliffe’s onscreen father in the H arry Potter films.
The new movie will be directed by James Watkins, with a script by Kick- Ass screenwriter Jane Goldman.

FREEMAN LEADS MANDELA TRIBUTES WITH BIKE RIDE

MORGAN FREEMAN led tributes to former South African president NELSON MAND ELA on his 92nd birthday by joining a group of bikers for a charity road trip across the country.
The ex-leader reached the milestone on Sunday (18Jul10) and admirers ac ross the world devoted 67 minutes of their time to good causes to mark th e 67 years Mandela spent in politics.
Freeman, who played Mandela on the big screen in Invictus, joined a gro up of 20 bikers for a road trip from Johannesburg to Cape Town, stopping to take part in community projects along the way including building a fen ce at an AIDS centre.
And the Hollywood actor vowed to continue his good deeds as a tribute t o his hero. He says, "I take it as my connection to Madiba (Mandela). We should do it everyday… We’re trying to head for a world where there’s p eace and where we can teach our children about integrity of this vision."

ROBBINS WRITES ‘MID-LIFE CRISIS’ ALBUM

TIM ROBBINS turned to music to help him heal following his split from SUS AN SARANDON - he has written a "mid-life crisis" album.
The Hollywood couple parted ways in 2009 after 23 years together, and R obbins admits he has been battling feelings of disillusionment.
To help him find focus in his life, Robbins began writing music and is set to release his first record later this year (10) - and the actor reve als working on songs helped him deal with his problems.
He tells BBC radio show Desert Island Discs, "I asked myself the questi on, ‘What is it that will make you happy? What is it you have not done th at you will regret not doing?’ "A mid-life crisis - I think we all go through something, it’s inevitab le, it’s unavoidable. You’re staring some kind of frightening thing down.
It’s when you pass 40, inherently we double our age when we think about life. At 40 you can imagine 80. You start thinking about how many years y ou’ve got left, and you start thinking, ‘What the hell am I doing here?’ "I was thinking about calling it The Mid-Life Crisis Album, but then I thought that’s not going to sell any copies. Then I thought, How about So ngs of Love and Misery?" And when the programme’s host Kirsty Young asked if he still hopes to f ind love "post mid-life crisis", Robbins replied, "Let’s hope it’s out th ere".

MCCARTNEY’S GUILT OVER SENDING CHILDREN TO PRIVATE SCHOOL

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s daughter STELLA feels guilty about sending her child ren to a "posh" private school - because she’s convinced her dad’s decisi on to enrol her in a "normal" facility was "the best thing" he could have done for her.
The Beatles legend sent the fashion designer to a local government-run institute because he wanted to make sure she remained grounded despite hi s superstar status.
Stella previously dubbed her father a "tight b**tard" for the decision, but now credits the musician for making the right choice.
The designer, who is currently expecting her fourth child, has decided to send her kids to an expensive private school, but she fears it will ha ve a negative impact on them.
She tells Britain’s Daily Mail, "If at any stage it looks like they’re becoming total jerks and saying ‘hello mummy’ in posh voices, instead of running in and just being their awful selves, then you have to knock it o n the head (stop it). It’s one of my biggest internal struggles - the who le schooling system in London and the fact that my kids are going to a po sh school. It freaks me out…

PARAMORE’S WILLIAMS SCORES FIRST U.K. NUMBER ONE SINGLE

PARAMORE frontwoman HAYLEY WILLIAMS has claimed her first U.K. number one single - her collaboration with rapper B.O.B. has climbed to the top spo t in the rundown.
Airplanes entered the chart at number 23 seven weeks ago but has slowly been moving up the list, reaching third place last week (11Jul10).
The track has now topped the chart, while Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP’s We N o Speak Americano moved up to second position and Eminem’s track with Rih anna, Love The Way You Lie, dropped from number one to the third slot.
Katy Perry’s collaboration with Snoop Dogg, California Gurls, took four th place, while Professor Green rounded out the top five with his Lily Al len duet Just Be Good To Green.
In the British album chart Eminem returned to the top with Recovery, af ter Kylie Minogue’s Aphrodite pushed the rapper from the number one spot last week.
The Australian pop star is now in second place, while Eliza Doolittle s cored the highest debut with her self-titled record.

N-DUBZ STAR’S HOUSE TARGETED BY THIEVES

N-DUBZ star TULISA CONTOSTAVLOS is fuming with TV bosses following a burg lary at her home just days after the property was featured in a documenta ry about the band.
The British hip-hop star has been left devastated after criminals broke into the house in the early hours of Saturday morning (17Jul10) - the sa me night she was out celebrating her 22nd birthday.
The property in Hertfordshire, England was featured on the band’s show Being… N-Dubz last Monday (12Jul10), revealing the drive and front door of the building.
Contostavlos and cops are said to be convinced the thieves recognised t he house from the TV clip.
Britain’s The Sun quotes the singer as telling a friend, "It’s heartbre aking. I asked them not to show the street because I was worried about se curity. I don’t know if I can live there any longer." But a spokesperson for the U.K.’s Channel 4 TV network has defended the decision to air the footage, saying, "It was a brief shot of the exterio r, approved by N-Dubz management."

LABELLE AND VON TEESE AUSTRIAN SHOW HALTED OVER THUNDERSTORM

An open air AIDS charity concert in Austria, which was set to include per formances from R&B star PATTI LABELLE and burlesque dancer DITA VON TEESE , was cut short on Saturday (17Jul10) after a thunderstorm ripped through the area.
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton and actress Whoopi Goldberg were als o due to take to the stage for the Austrian Life Ball outside the Vienna city hall to help raise funds for victims of the disease.
But appearances by the stars had to be skipped after officials issued a weather warning and forced organisers to clear the square where the show was taking place.
